The most disturbing part about this is that somebody saw a chicken and thought "hey, that looks a lot like a pussy"

Also, the "I need to win the battle of the bands or my dad is sending me to military school" plot point is ripped off from Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure.

Heads up: LOL is only on Netflix Instant until 9/15/14
Lando posted a topic in How Did This Get Made?
Since Paul announced on the mini-ep that they are doing LOL on a live show, I thought that I would bring it to everyone's attention that it is only on Netflix Instant until 9/15. If you have Netflix and want to have a chance to watch it before they release the episode then you have less than two weeks. -
Which Christopher Lambert movie should we pick for HDTGM?
Lando replied to jimkiler's topic in Bad Movie Recommendations
I just want to say that it has barely been mentioned that there is a futuristic version of Beowulf staring Mr. Lambert. -
I think that Travolta may have played the ultimate douchebag in this film. Having this image on your screen causes it to radiate Axe body spray.

Damn PlanB, you are in tune with Rotten Tomatoes. At 4% they sum it up as:
-
To be fair, the list of movies that would be worth doing has got to be at least 2x as long as the list of movies that they shouldn't do.
-
Adaptation is a masterpiece Lord of War, the Weather Man and Matchstick Men are not crazy Making fun of Bad Lieutenant and Wild at Heart would run you the risk of being accused of "not getting it" Windtalkers and World Trade Center are too delicate subjects to mock

Wow, I am shocked that there isn't already a thread for this. I remember when this came out and someone did the math: I think even in costume for this movie I find Christine Lakin more attractive than Paris Hilton.

I have a theory that this movie was written on a bet; the bet that someone couldn't make a movie were the script was written entirely of zingers.

At first glance I thought that was a pic of Travolta in Grease. Maybe it actually is Travolta with Cage's face on him...

If you want insight into the mind of the Juggalo, this is WELL worth the 23 minutes that it takes to watch:

I don't think Vampire's Kiss is made to be bad, so much as his performance is intended to be over the top. Like I've said before, if they had made the idea that he had contracted rabies more explicit I think the movie would have been better received. I think as a "descent into madness" film it works.

My problem is that I think that the general political discourse in this country is awful. I think that when it comes to politics people tend to talk past each other and attempt to shout the other side down with their group rhetoric without ever trying to put themselves in the shoes of the other side and understand where they are coming from. This movie is 100% an example of that awful political dialog, and the response is almost always also awful rhetoric of the other side. I don't want to subject myself to the "War on Christmas" bullshit, but I also don't want to subject myself to mockery of the other side that does nothing to try to understand it. I've said something similar of Tyler Perry movies in that I don't think it would be too interesting listening to 4 white people make fun of a movie that is directed at an African American audience (and I say this as a pretty white guy). However, the difference between this and Tyler Perry movies is that you could easily find a good African American comedian to discuss the movie with, I doubt that you could find a good Christian comedian period. Also, you do not want to watch Big Money Rustlas. It's just awful in every way possible, there is nothing fun in it, nothing worth making fun of it's just a tedious experience.

This movie takes place in the grim future of 2009. I have a weird fascination with movies that try to predict the future and how they match up when that time comes (hint: they're almost always way off).
-
I think that this movie is like that Tom Cruise scientology video that leaked a few years ago or Big Money Rustlaz/Hustlaz in that it's meant for a very specific sub-culture. I think it's easy to stand outside of these subcultures and mock it, but doing so is unfulfilling and advances nothing of substance.

There was also a "Blown Away" from around the same time that had the two Coreys and Nicole Eggert. That one would also be good for HDTGM
-
10 of these have already been done by HDTGM, I imagine a lot of the rest are on the list to do in the future: http://www.rottentomatoes.com/guides/worst_summer_movies/

Man, I think there are laserdisc purists who would insist to this day that this movie looks better on ld than blu-ray.

Episode 91 — The 1st Annual Howdies Pt. 1
Lando replied to JulyDiaz's topic in How Did This Get Made?
Did anyone think when Paul was "playing them off" it sounded like he was doing "Not A Girl, Not Yet a Woman" from Crossroads? -
Did you hug a kitten as you teared up? I did.

To be fair to the monster part of Sunshine it's far from the craziest part of the movie, they're supposed to fly a ship into the sun to explode a nuke near the surface to restart it. They may as well have said that they have to sprinkle magic fairy dust on the surface. The sun makes up something like 98% of the matter in the solar system and would liquefy even our best insulating technology somewhere around Mercury even if it cooled down a few percent. Sharknado essentially has a more credible premise than Sunshine. That said, I really enjoy Sunshine, I think they basically tell you to not worry about the science early and to sit back and enjoy the ride. Boyle does a great job with putting together visual experiences and that's essentially what Trance is.
