Carrie Brownstein mentioned this in her NPR/Phish thing but one of the reasons Phish isn't aggressive is that they come from mostly stable and/or wealthy homes. It's really 4 music nerds doing exactly what they want to do. I mean, the keyboard player's father was on the team that invented Tylenol. -

Fogelnest and the Sklars (more than once) have been on CBB, Fogelnest and the Sklars have been on Har Mar, Aukerman has been on Sklar a couple times, Howard has been on the Sklars more than once, Har Mar has been on the Sklars more than once and was one of their first guests, Blaine and Brian have been on the Sklars. I follow this shit too much.

tim heidecker's call promoting the comedy is a really epic 45 minute romp. i also like the john hodgman, john oliver, philly boy roy call from 3 years ago. also, the thing to keep in mind about scharpling and wurster is that they are punks in the nicest way possible. -

won't listen until monday at work but i was disappointed it was gary and not tom proper. this thread changed my expectations. for best show newbs, i would listen to the best show gems podcast, not the full show because the full show is kind of time sensitive and best show gems is just the best stuff. -
The structure of all the F and Ps are the same, which naturally means they will get less funny. They are friends. Friends talk like they do. I just hate this Hollywood mentality of running a concept into the ground. It's like they don't even realize they can have a different structure.

The object of a comedy podcast like this is to say as many laugh lines in an hour as possible. It's a riff-fest. If she isn't saying to get a laugh, she shouldn't say it.
