Also, please don't blame Pixar for Planes. That's Disney animation. And unless you want to be haunted by it for the rest of your life, *do not* watch The Peanut Butter Solution.

"She's like a walking, talking piece of poopy art and I like that!" I am definitely Team Jenny.

True, but Whedon isn't really that guy, ya know? If we were talking Nolan or JJ Abrams, I'd say yeah, who knows. But Whedon doesn't tend to do that kind of thing. I just have a sneaking suspicion that Tony's self-controlled suits from IM3 will somehow come into play and then we'll have a good reason why he doesn't just pull that same trick in the future. I think they'll just do the origin that works for this version of the characters, which is what they've done before.
-
I think Whedon directly said Pym would not be involved in Ultron's creation. I'll have to look up the quote. But I still think they'll make Ultron connected to Tony, because that would give it more personal stakes than assigning it to a random character we've never seen or heard before.

It is so. Good ensemble movie. And Riddick isn't really the main character. In fact, the lead is a woman who is apparently far better written than the female character from this movie.

This movie has neither plot nor characters; it's just a series of random CGI events strung together.

Already a couple of topics on this one http://forum.earwolf.com/topic/5901-the-horror-of-congo/page__hl__congo__fromsearch__1 http://forum.earwolf.com/topic/9664-congo-1995/page__hl__congo__fromsearch__1 http://forum.earwolf.com/topic/12481-congo/page__hl__congo__fromsearch__1

They should have just called it Assholes: The Movie.

Maria's laughter is the best. The best Jerry!

The Ultron thing should be interesting because they are apparently ditching the Pym origins of the character all together. The going idea was it was going to be a corrupted JARVIS, but now that Spader has been cast I don't think anyone knows what's going on.

Great Howardisms in this one. 'Did she chase any down some man?'

I'll be interested in seeing how Ant-Man and Guardians does. They seem like the riskier choices for Marvel.
-
Every trailer for this just screamed 'Pitch Black Redux'. Like they really wrote themselves in a corner with the Conan ending of Chronicles, so they just decided they'd make the first movie again.

He was probably going to yell at the thought that someone would seriously suggest The World's End as a bad movie.

"Because You Watched..." Netflix suggestions that miss the mark
seanotron replied to PlanBFromOuterSpace's topic in How Did This Get Made?
I do feel like Netflix at times has strangely specific genre recommendations and then at other times very generic ones. Like right now I have 'Dysfunctional Family TV Shows' and 'Witty TV Comedies from the 1990s', then on the other side of the coin I have 'Critically Acclaimed Movies' and 'Showbiz Documentaries'. It also keeps recommending American Dad, even though I kind of hate MacFarlane Animation. -

Phew. Otherwise, I was going to have to activate my nerd powers and go all Carrie up in here. -
It's still 90 degrees 'round these parts, so as far as I'm concerned, it's still Summah.

Have you tried Elementary? I didn't have high hopes for it, but it actually does some things better than Sherlock. Female characters, for instance. Lucy Liu is really great as Joan Watson. And Natalie Dormer as Irene Adler. -

Are you bad-mouthing TNG? -
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VlGNm7_dvz4 Of course my first question is how many people Laruen is fixing dinner for, because that's like 5 pounds of turkey.

Oh yeah, dude was high pretty much 99% of the time. Some of my enthusiasm for him is tempered by all the domestic violence stuff, but he was definitely a fascinating guy. The doc I watched featured a lot of his friends, and one of them talked about how he was basically two different people - nice Richard and mean Richard. He said you never knew which one you were going to get but you hoped for nice Richard. Gene Wilder has told some great stories about his experiences making movies with him. You'd think with the chemistry those two had they would be friends or at least reasonably friendly, but they both seemed to dislike each other. I know Pryor made fun of Wilder in his standup, accused him of being gay, etc.

I remember talking about this in another thread, but the ending to this where Buscemi the serial killer escaping is played for laughs is super nuts.
-
IIRC, this was a time period where Pryor had a contract with one of these studios and was basically just fulfilling it. I just watched a documentary on him on Showtime or one of those channels, and they briefly touched on it. Basically, he hated almost every movie he ever made. I think his attitude was that if he couldn't make the movies he wanted, he might as well take the money and run.

Oh, it wasn't even that. I was just thinking it was a bummer if she was that rude IRL.
