I found the whole thing a little low-energy this week, to be honest, but I think that's more me than the show – my personal tastes run towards the manic Andy Daly/PFT/Adomian-type characters than the slow-burn characters. Lizzy's a champ, though. I love it when guests start the show a little bit behind the eight-ball and then catch up fast.

I actually kinda wanted to see Premium Rush -- it looked like good dumb fun, the reviews are great, I'm an avid cyclist -- but now I feel a bit shitty about it. Behold the power of Scheer.

Any time Scott starts singing and the guest just leaves him hanging for an incredibly long time is pure gold.

This hit a sweet spot for me, as I love PFT, love Cake Boss, and love it when guests are obviously having a good time. Jay seemed kind of baffled and overwhelmed on occasion, but was totally game. A weird lack of composure on PFT's part, though -- he usually doesn't crack up so easily. All that being said, I think the Cake Boss revelation was awesome and kind of sets up a good long break for the character. It's always gold when PFT does it, but I think it could do with a bit of a rest.

Not easy to get Comedy Central material here in Canada, so I was wondering – since they’re advertising on the show and all – if Bunk was, well, good. Given that this is the Internet's premier improv podcast, it seems to be a good place to ask if an improv-driven show is working out well.

Hey! I've been negative on these forums for ages. More seriously, if all you ever want to read in these forums is "ha ha ha this episode is the best ever no seriously” over and over and over again, you can just print that out on an index card, look at it from time to time and hug yourself. I like stopping in here to talk about what I love when I love an episode, and what didn't work for me when I didn't like an episode. I also love hearing what people actually liked about an episode more when an episode falls flat for me -- sometimes the perspective of somebody who really gets a character will actually flip a little switch, and I'll re-listen and something I didn't enjoy before will take on a new aspect. So I'll stand up for the negative nancys: they're the ones that start interesting conversations on this board, and as long as they have something of substance to say about why they didn't like something, I'd much rather read those posts. Give me a well-founded negative opinion over a chucklehead who automatically thumbs-up everything he hears any day of the week.

I love me some Besser, and love me some I4H, but for some reason, my boat wasn't floated so much this week. Bob O. seemed to only really have one foot in, and the Pope kind of hit all the low-hanging fruit, but it all felt a little easy.

Bright side: this ep sold me on Ben Schwartz as one of my favourite CBB guests for "as-himself" appearances. He was stellar for the entire front half.

Does he choose roles based on playing to type, or is he at a point how where he's looking more for opportunities to play against type? Post-Machete, what are his feelings on the representation of Mexicans/Hispanics/Latinos in big media?

My only hope is for an hours-long, in-depth, amazingly detailed interview with Patton Oswalt. One that really digs down deep and deals with what really makes him tick. His inner thoughts and feelings. A personal, penetrating look behind what one might call "the tears of the clown."

I can't decide if a full episode called "Finger Guns" without any mention of the fact that finger guns naturally result in finger banging is a case of tasteful restraint or a tragically missed opportunity.

When Saucerman says "go show up to Jessica's house to record the shows" at 13:31, he is of course referring to Jessica Fletcher: since Marissa disappears so abruptly and completely from her intern duties, it will require the wit and wisdom of the Western world's greatest detective to find out where she is. Then, in a dizzying series of events, Saucerman and Fletcher must spring Wompler from detention, get her to Fletcher's home studio (Jessica Fletcher also records award-winning audio books), and of course explore and explain the mysterious death of Engineer Dustin (Harris Wittels did it). Do I get a No-Prize?

As a Canuck, I'd love to support the show – but obviously, LegalZoom.com doesn't exactly meet my needs. There's an affiliated legalzoom.ca (and I may need some legal help soon!), but will working with them show LegalZoom that their CBB sponsorship is working out even in the windy, wintry North?

Holy jeez, re-reading that, it sounds a lot more cranky than I intended it to sound. I'm not the founder and CEO of the He-Man Tim-And-Eric-Haters Club or anything, I just find they're kind of oil and water with the show in general... especially at about the one-third mark, where they always seem to get exasperated and disengage.

Tim actually had a lot of fun, and was wrestling shirtless with James the very next night. It's just schtick. Which is great, but as a listener and long-time fan, I think the way his schtick mingles with the show's theme, drive and energy, well, sucks. A few recent shows just knocked it out of the park -- largely due to regulars like Daly and Tompkins, but Proops, Moynihan, Offerman and Odenkirk are a few recent "non-family" guests that still just killed in this environment. Compare Proops' enthusiasm and contributions to the shows he's been on to Tim and Eric's showings, and maybe you can see where I'm coming from. When a show's premise is fun, freewheeling improv, having guests whose entire thesis is anti-comedy is never going to give you a good blend. When guests are game, the show is gold. Tim and Eric are anti-game. "We're too good for your silly games" is cute for a couple of minutes, but it gets really tired, really fast. YMMV, obviously. I'm not saying Tim and Eric aren't good at what they do – but in one listener's opinion, what they do sucks all the air out of the room and kills the CBB style of comedy dead.

I have often lain awake in bed at night, staring at the ceiling, wondering "What if Snoop from The Wire met the greatest theatre impresario of all time?" I may now, at last, sleep soundly. Two of these last three have been all-time greats. I don't know if everyone's riding a high from excitement over the TV show or something, but the Daly episode and this one have been pure gold.
