  1. hell yes Dan. FOTN was one of those movies I saw at my aunts house and was confused even as a child.

It also introduced me to the word "bastard", which did not amuse my parents nearly as much as it did eight-year-old me.

  2. Actually three other roommates! Post-grads tend to be poor and huddle together.

While cute, your response doesn't actually address the question of why there are four accounts originating from your IP.

But I'm sure you could also be right, and I'm a sociopath who made a fake account just for two posts, with a master plan to cover my tracks by starting this account a year ago and posting over 500 times as a rabid fan to throw you off my scent, all while being Manti Teo's girlfriend.

Or, less deliberately obtuse, you didn't want to risk the possibility that throwing shade at Besser would affect your reputation as a self-proclaimed "rabid fan", and created a convenient anonymous account from behind which to snipe.

Which would be extra ironic, given the fact that this Case Closed imbroglio began with Besser's reaction to people hiding behind online anonymity to broadcast hate about Jason Collins.

Now reply that I'm lying or just delete my account... either way I'm good with it.

Protip: Playing both the "I am a rabid fan" and "ban me I don't care" cards in the same post diminishes the credibility of either position.

The bottom line is that the forums have recently experienced an influx of people registering accounts for the express purpose of shitting on a particular host or guest. Under Shannon's benevolent guidance, we take a very light touch toward moderation, and you'll note that few (if any) of them are banned for their efforts. The last thing we need are "fans" pulling the same shit. If you are, knock it off.

  3. Now that the napalm has somewhat evaporated, I'll say that Astartes' post really doesn't read that offensively to me. I read it as "unsolicited opinions aren't hard to find in today's divided world, but great improv comedy podcasts are, and that's what he listens to I4H for". I can understand that angle...

RIP Spirit Bear, I find it totally unsurprising that you support Astartes' earlier comments, because both you and Astartes have been posting from the same IP address, in some cases only minutes apart. Would you care to explain this?

  4. I'm sure most people who listen to a lot of podcasts are getting tired of Maron making the rounds, but I still really enjoy his appearances.
I am, but I liked it a lot too. I thought there was plenty of room for Maron to be himself, but it didn't mess with the usual feel of the show like his appearance on CBB did.

And DC Pierson before him, and Jen Kirkman before him. This is the Sacred Unwritten Contract of Podcasting; comedians give us so many hours of enjoyment for free, with the understanding that they will periodically carpetbomb us when they have product to move.

Counting down from 1, Rule #-3 of podcasts is "It's okay to turn it off if you're not feeling it."

  5. The object of a comedy podcast like this is to say as many laugh lines in an hour as possible. It's a riff-fest. If she isn't saying to get a laugh, she shouldn't say it.

This statement has all the advantages of being insulting, deliberately obtuse, and wrong. Congratulations!

HTDGM is not a "comedy podcast"; it is a movie discussion podcast hosted by comedians. Given their preparation beforehand, their critical analysis, and their attempts to divine the intent of those responsible for insane artistic choices, it's more or less the opposite of a "riff-fest".

Boys, boys, boys! Please let the lovely June finish her sentences without constantly cutting her off.

NachoMother, to your point, there was a recent (and lengthy) discussion of June getting cut off in the comments for the Spice World episode. Rest assured, plenty of other listeners agree with you.

  6. My guess is it's a combination of trolling and people adding movies they just don't like because they want to add one that hasn't been added yet, regardless of whether it's worthy of an episode or not.

Both on FYI and the Bad Movie Recommendations forum, it's starting to seem like people are racing to see who can be the most hipster-blasé, with recommendations like The Avengers, or Iron Man 3, or R.I.P.D. two months before its release.

If there were a proper emoticon for "wanking motion", I would be using it so hard right now.

  7. First and foremost, I don't work for Earwolf, so none of my statements should be construed as such, and none of the things you attribute to "me" apply.

Second, given the monumental effort involved in migrating their entire audio catalog from LibSyn to SoundCloud, Earwolf no doubt had compelling reasons for doing so (be it cost savings, technological capability, integration with their home-grown ad network, etc.) and did not proceed lightly.

Third, given your sample size of (what, three?) people in this thread, compared to the hundreds of thousands of subscribers Earwolf shows boast, I'd wager you are grossly overestimating the percentage of listeners affected by the switchover to SoundCloud.

Fourth, even for the tiny fraction of affected users, there are a variety of means available to those who are (again) actively seeking to violate their companies' IT policies. Download a podcast app to your phone. Subscribe via iTunes and sync before heading to work. Stream over your 3G/4G connection. Set up a VPN and tunnel your browser connection through it. Whatever.

None of the above warrant showing up in the forums to puke a snide, self-entitled demand for ANSWERS at the people kind enough to provide you with hundreds of hours of free entertainment every year.

  8. it has been a month since last i listened to an earwolf podcast at work. Can you please tell my why you use soundcloud? I would say MOST employers block that site. and many block redirecting.

It's now Earwolf's responsibility to figure out a way to circumvent your employer's explicit desire that you not listen to podcasts during the hours they pay you to perform work? Really?
