  1. I love Easy Rider. I was not aware of this movie, until I saw it pop up here, but I have to say, after watching it, this is the most egregious example of an unwarranted or unnecessary sequel, ever. The idea of delving into Captain America's family history undermines everything about the first movie. He was a man with no past and no future, certainly no family -- a blank canvas, eventually covered with the brush strokes of America at the end of the 1960s, through encountering the disparate cultures and counter-cultures that were fighting for their own views, the result of which is one of the most important dissections of American society of that decade. It's really disappointing that this movie was even made, to begin with.

So glad to hear I'm not alone. That was my favorite episode from last year (oddly it didn't get that many votes for the best of list).

    Β

I also have yet to make it through Tiny telling the cheeseburger story without breaking into laughter. Unbelievably good!

It was after the cutoff for Best Ofs last year. I'm really hoping people remember it, when the 2014 voting comes around, because it was so amazing.

  3. I went to the show in Detroit this last tour, and you're in for a treat, Daveyman. When I saw CBB Live, the Birthday Boys opened with a show, then Kurt Braunholer came out and did some standup, then Hot Saucerman did some warmup, and the shot started. The live shows are more character-focused than even a regular podcast is, and I feel like all the performers get that extra jolt from getting up in front of an actual crowd. After my experience at a live CBB, I'm going to make sure I'm at any live show they do in my area -- it's an amazing night. You're going to have a blast!

  4. I tried to email you, but it wouldn't go through. So I'm just going to post this here and hope you see it:

    Β

Two years ago, I came across your podcast on the Earwolf network. I had never been exposed to improv comedy, other than Who's Line Is It Anyway, but I gave it a try, and I was hooked from the first episode I listened to.

    Β

This year, I finally took the plunge and did something I have wanted to since I started listening to your show: I signed up for an Improv class at a theater called Planet Ant in Detroit. I bought your book - The UCB Comedy Improv Manual - and went to class with an open mind.

    Β

I don't have any theater or performance background, but I've always been a storyteller. I'm a sportswriter by trade, but recently, I've grown weary of that as a creative outlet. Thanks to you, I found improv, and it has been the been thing that has happened to me in a long time.

    Β

I love it, and I love having an outlet to pretend and play and create. My intro class is about to end, but I am definitely going to continue with the program. I have met some great people, and I have had an incredible time.

    Β

So, thank you. If you have any tips for an upstart imrpover - especially about starting a team after my classes end - I would be so grateful to hear them.

My email address is andy.a.reid@gmail.com. I'd be happy to talk about Improv with anyone else on the message board that wants to get into it.

  5. This has to be the greatest day in earwolf history. A Nick Thune ep. of CBB (I'm seeing him in Grand Rapids next month, really excited!), an awesome i4h and the return of Chop Gardner with his very own podcast pilot.

    Β

Oh... and Never Not Funny, no big deal. This podcast network is, if I may steal a phrase from HDTGM, bonkers.

  6. I'm not sure what's so perplexing about the Avicii "wake me up" video. It's clearly about hot chicks finding their way to a rave.

    Β

You'd have to be really Doug not to get that.

    Β

I just watched it, after listening to the podcast. Here's what's perplexing: a girl riding a horse through the streets of Miami would get MUCH weirder looks than she and her sister got from the townspeople haha
