I remember seeing like the first 30 minutes of this when my parents rented it from Blockbuster. I had no idea what was going on and we all found it kinda boring. Also, how the fuck did this movie have a 50 million dollar budget?! The biggest name in the movie at that time was Dennis Farina and I don't remember there being a lot of big explosions or other action tropes.

That's Hollywood for you. Or I should say low budget Hollywood. -

So let me see if I can figure out the pitch for this movie. "Let's mix scenes from Gladiator and 300, then throw in a bit of Braveheart, and finally barely address the mythology of the character by having some supernatural stuff." Wow Renny Harlin has gone downhill. -

No I have no intention of seeing Gravity, it just isn't appealing to me for whatever reason. Though I do think it can be considered as Speed 3 in space as it has Sandra Bullock freaking out trying to survive while being guided by a male veteran in a specialized field, in this case an astronaut. Visually it looks good, but I just wasn't interested in sitting through it.

Having that mindset would be the only reason I would see that fucking movie. Just throw in a quick scene of Linney aiming the diamond laser and then boom, death in space.

There was a bit of talk about her tickling and how it was kinda molesty for Peter to do that to an ape.

No problem. But Return to Sleepaway Camp can be found on RT, but I don't know if you need it to have a non-user rating. If not the first sequel would be a great addition.

10 MOVIES!!! Nightmare on Elm St. 2 Halloween 3 Friday the 13th Jason Takes Manhattan Troll 2 Return to Sleepaway Camp actually is on RT, it just has an audience rating. If not that Sleepaway Camp II: Unhappy Campers Chopping Mall Jack Frost Maximum Overdrive Dreamcatcher Killer Klowns from Outer Space Hope this helps.

Shannon, is there anyway to replace V/H/S or Cannibal Holocaust with any of the Sleepaway Camp sequels, especially Return to Sleepaway Camp? I feel that while V/H/S is a hit or miss movie for people, and June would be too disturbed by Cannibal Holocaust to want to do an episode on it, but the Sleepaway Camp films are that special next level bonkers that are what make this show incredible.

You could still sorta hear the fappin'.

Holy shit. I just read the Wiki to see how big a difference the movie was from the book and its insane. Munro really was white in the book, hence the joke by Ernie Hudson saying he was the great white African hunter but he was black. Also Dr. Peter and Amy were treated almost as an afterthought and were used more as a possible safe gaurd against any gorillas that they may come across in the jungle. The diamonds were meant to be used for new computer processors rather than lasers, and a lot more of the team survived. Also, Tim Curry's character wasn't even in the book, so his character was created SOLELY for audiences to watch a douchey European guy get killed by a gorilla. The one thing I glad wasn't transferred over to the movie was the idea that the gorilla's may have been gorilla/human hybrids. Also the volcano only exploded in the book because the Laura Linney character was setting off explosives to do geological surveys of the area, rather than just because. What's weird is that the screenwriter basically decided to give Crichton the finger when he wrote the script, especially after how well Jurassic Park did. While he did have some elements of Crichton's style in the book with the tech talk and some corporate espionage, it was all so rushed and came off has unnecessary. And instead of a post-credit scene of just the balloon not taking them to a safe place, I want it to be that along with Peter saying something like "I know Amy is now happy and safe" and then cut to the Silverbacks just viciously killing Amy since she's not part of their herdand came off as trying to take over as the alpha.

I really need to see that Die Hard in a Die Hard movie movie.
-
You're welcome. What's great about that movie was it was described as "Die Hard on a train" which I felt was sort of the fad at the time to describe whatever movie as "Die Hard in or on a blank."

Chronicles seemed almost completely like Vin project to create this epic yarn for his character. It's sort of like how the recent Fast & Furious movies went from a group of street racers to guys being called upon by the government to stop international terrorists, except they REALLY rushed it here with Riddick. He went from being a awesome prisoner to all of a sudden he's fighting immeasurable alien forces for the fate of the universe, it was incredibly unrealistic even by sci-fi standards. I liked that Riddick went back to basics and made a simpler movie, but the problems in the first and third act completely ruin what could have been a great movie, if it was just about Riddick fighting these different groups of bounty hunters who have come to collect his head.

Having just seen this on Friday, this is perfect for HDTGM. Now it's not as bad as Chronicles was, but this is leaps and bounds behind Pitch Black. There was a really great story in this movie, that was unfortunately sandwiched between two sub par ones. The first third of the movie is basically a sci-fi version of Cast Away with a space dog/wolf/thing and Vin Diesel, while the last part of the movie, which is what is promoted in all of the trailers, is just a not as exciting rehash of Pitch Black minus all the tension. The middle section of this movie is fantastic though with it concerning Riddick fighting bounty hunters. There was tension and great action, which made me want to see so much more of it, especially compared to the rest of the movie. The first part alone would make Jason go bananas, but June would lose her mind when it comes to Katee Sackhoff's boobs. For some reason, the makers of the movie couldn't decide on whether or not she was going to wear a pushup bra or just go natural. So for much of the movie, her chest changes size and not just a little bit, at certain points in the movie it looks like they did computer animation to give her porn star size breasts. That along with the fact that women are treated as holes to hold a cock in this movie, June would have a lot to go off on while Jason screamed at the top of his lungs about the insanity of this movie.

Which is the most bizarre thing since both movies were written by the same guy. The only difference is David Twohy didn't have the other two guys helping in writing the movie and you can definitely see the difference in quality and character development.

They did Over the Top and Demolition Man back to back and Season of the Witch was three episodes before Drive Angry, so why not do this soon after Glimmer man?
-
I had the board game for this movie. It was weird in that they made it sort of like a video game in that your character had so many life points before they were killed and you never knew when you were going to be attacked by an ape since the tiles you landed on were flipped over.
-
Yeah Butler kills at least 5 or 6 guys using the move, some of which are mercy killings.

Yeah I saw it when I was pretty young so it's very vague to me, I just remember it was a slasher set in a mall. But then again there were LITERALLY hundreds of horror movies released in the 80s, so it's hard to trim down.

Could the theme song of the movie be "Kung Fu Fighting" by Carl Douglas just for the line everybody was kung fu fighting? Also can there be a fight scene where the different body parts are fighting one another a la the Ed Norton Fight Club self fighting scene?
-
This was a great purchase as I love the horror movies that were spawned in the 80s in the wake of successes like Friday the 13th and Nightmare on Elm Street. The fact that these robots are the clunkiest looking robots ever made but they are able to traverse a multi-level shopping mall with ease is astounding. Plus the Scanners-esque head explosion of the slutty blonde made me and my friends all gasp as we were A) not expecting it and b, not expecting it to be so well done in comparison to the rest of the movie. Though my next favorite death is where one girl rams a security golf cart into one of the shorting out robots, gets electrocuted and just tips over dead. Also, wasn't there another slasher set in a shopping mall after hours?

I was waiting to see if Underworlders were somehow involved in this and my thoughts were confirmed by that line right there. It would have been a very interesting movie to see Frankenstein's monster surviving through the years after his creator's death and how he learned to evolve, but the "sexy monster" that they are making him out to be and his involvement in what appears to be a fight against Greek mythology creatures (which would fit since Frankenstein is also called the modern Prometheus), doesn't come off as eye catching.

Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan
RyanSz replied to RyanSz's topic in Bad Movie Recommendations
What was funny was that Paramount wanted a new setting for the series to see if it would breathe new life into the series, and liked the idea of Manhattan, but they didn't want to foot the bill for it.
