To be fair Hotel Transylvania worked because it was an animated movie featuring cute versions of movie monsters. Plus it wasn't a Happy Madison production, so he couldn't bog it down with his usual group of friends and costars.

I'll admit that the first one was terrible because it was PG-13, but the sequel was a guilty pleasure because of how over the top it was with violence and the idea that pregnant women fired off more chestbursters since the babies could be infected. And Predator 2 had a great thing with the toy guns that the cops used to fight off drug dealers and an alien hunter.

That is sound logic. Maybe that's why it's developed a cult following after it came out on video.

I too liked the movie, especially David Hyde Pierce as this was so different than from what we've seen him do but he played it really well. Yet it was crazy watching him have air sex with his imaginary party guest or that for some reason he had a closet full of Halloween masks on the off chance his crazy neighbor heard his victims scream.

This movie would be perfect for HDTGM as it's pretty crazy. A bank robber on the run hides out in a house owned by a guy played by David Hyde Pierce of Frasier fame. While he thinks he has the house owner figured out, he soon realizes that the man is utterly insane. It's part police procedural and part suspense thriller and the whole time you never really know what to make of Pierce's character. To me it's one of the few sequels that holds up to the original. Plus it gave us nerds hope for the Aliens vs. Predator movie that we all wanted to see.

Not 200 psychopaths, 666 psychopaths, a fact made to make him seem more menacing but was just glossed over in the movie.

Yeah I remember there being some outrage over Sandler making light of pedophilia, incest, and child abuse. What's funny about this movie was that it got the best reviews out of any of his more recent movies, but it tanked at the box office showing that his drawing power is finally starting to suffer after crappy movie after crappy movie is released.

They really tried to get movie within a movie on this one. It's a movie about "real people" who watched a "movie about real people" and it never looked back. It's like Inception for goth retards. -
This is a part of my guilty pleasure DVD collection along with Judge Dredd and the Aliens vs. Predator movies. I do love that it makes fun of the action movie genre in general, but it messes up by being too on the nose about it, though it is nice to see Arnold acknowledge how insane his style of movies are. It was also great to see how odd the cameos were: you had Robert Patrick and Sharon Stone playing their characters from Terminator 2 and Basic Instinct, Danny Devito as the aforementioned animated cat, MC Hammer, Little Richard, James Belushi, Timothy Dalton, Ian McKellan, and Tina Turner. Plus, you can see the always great Charles Dance play a pretty decent villain with a straight face in this crazy movie.

I just rewatched this last night and LL was friendly with Cusack since she was his cousin, but he was in a relationship with Debbie Mazar who was his grandfather's nurse, but he got upset with her when he found out she was also banging Michael Gambon.

After earth looks decent but they gave away what could have been a decent twist within the title and trailer. They could have done a pretty good Planet of the Apes style reveal, but like most trailers today blew it. Also, I may skip this as I can't stand the Smith kids as one is a horrible actor and the other one is a spoiled brat who tries to sing. -

The only thing missing from 10000 B.C. was that Roland wasn't able to destroy the White House like he tries to do in every single one of his movies. -
Yeah I own this movie and still don't know if this is meant to be a full on action/comedy or a spoof of action movies. It has over the top movie store employees, a giant gold movie display, and the trace buster buster which make it seem like a spoof, but then there are heavy action scenes. Either way, it's definitely made for this podcast.

And let's not forget the dead father's creepy bubble machine tombstone with the laughing toy that you can hear from 6 feet under. I also liked how insane the movie was with puzzle walls where rooms can shrink and that it was looked upon as an art film that families could watch by critics. Also, I remember the Sea Swine scaring the crap out of me as it looked to be a giant loch ness monster.

I think the 5 star reviews will be like a game of telephone. After a while it will go from Depp being partially Native American to finally "Hey did you hear that Johnny Depp is the Chief of the Cherokee Indians?"

I still remember that for some reason in the 90s telling a guy that he had a "skinny wiener" was an insult. Plus, the orgy of junkfood after the kids take over the camp was almost horrifying. Can we do this as a double feature with Camp Nowhere?
