Is Anyone Else Annoyed by Scott Recently?

Not at all, and I have been listening since episode 50 or so. I really enjoy his interview style when it's someone new, and I think he does a good job of knowing when someone can handle his bit parade (Alex Bournstein, Ana Gastayer, TFF) and when someone might benefit from a more straight forward interview (Dane Cook). I'm also not sure that things have changed all that much in terms of his hosting style. CDR/CBB has been bit heavy since the start. Obviously, Scott has improved a lot as a host over the years, and the show's format has become more defined. As far as his interactions with the characters, one of the things that made me such a huge fan of the show is how much he tries to throw off master improvisers like Andy Daly, Seth Morris, Nick Kroll, PFT, etc. It's lead to some of the funniest moments in the show's history. Perhaps you're a bit more used to his style now and you're seeing it more? He has a habit of keeping running jokes going for months at a time, and the only annoying thing for me is when one of those bits don't land. The only time I can think of that happening though was the joke where he couldn't say the name of the podcast. So, that's one joke that I really didn't like out of, I dunno, a million? that I either liked or were neutral about. That's a solid C+ in my book.

Episode 323 β€” Pie Quiz with Tears for Fears

haven't made it through most of the episode yet, but what's up with the sound quality? everything sounds overdriven. both on my phone and on the soundcloud feed
  3. Carmen is funny and it's cool that she's gay and it's cool that she talks about it.
  4. I'm young, I'm dumb, I'm full of chum.

    Episode 256 β€” Raw Copera

Best episode of 2013? Brendon Small and Cameron Esposito were great -- always a nice suprise when a new guest fits right into the podcast. And there are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe just how great James Adomian is.

    Episode 131 β€” Animal IQ

Agreed with everyone, this was the best PBO in recent memory. I was getting a litle burned out during the live shows -- a lot were great and I bet they were a blast to attend, but it got very repative towards the end. Glad to hear them firing on all cylinders again.

    Episode 130 β€” Sex Work

So I love this podcast, and I think David is often hilarious and also seems like a genuinely nice guy, but I have a hard time listening to him debate with someone like Sascha who is an expert on the topic. It's extremely frustrating when someone who really knows their shit is constantly cut off by someone who not only lacks understanding but also seems to demonstrate a certain amount of willful ignorance. I don't mean to put the guy down; I think he's great when the topic is more science-oriented ... but parts of this episode triggered a response that I usually associate with watching Bill O'Riley argue with a token liberal. How the hell is it hard to believe that some women in less-developed nations need to do sex work just to eat?

    Episode 210 β€” A Spiritual Journey

Yeah, he's definitely naturally funny too - I just get the sense that he doesn't know too much about what's going on these days. Which is cool as he fit into the show perfectly. I also got the sense that he doesn't have so much going on these days, just based on what he said about his career, so I hope he keeps turning up in small comedy things. They're very different actors, but Ray Wise comes to mind - he's been everywhere lately and is so hilarious it's like he came out of nowhere.

Episode 193 β€” What Else? What Else?

This is a good point (as were the other points you made). Personally, I like this character and I didn't find anything grating about it. I woud like to mention that I remember a lot of people really disliking Lil' Gary in the early days (I always loved him) for his voice. And Merril Schindler makes me sick to my stomach, but I know that's the point. I always appreciate when a comedian is doing something risky, like intentionally having an obnoxious/grating/disgusting voice on a podcast. I mean, Andy Daly makes jokes about beating women and getting them hooked on heroin. That may not trigger the visceral disgust of Schindler's gulps and lick smacks, but there's a different kind of disgust I get from it, and that's a big part of the joke. I do think that there is still quite a bit of sexism among comedy fans. I don't think anyone here intends to be sexist, but I have definitely noticed more disapproval of the newer female characters than newer male characters. What I don't understand are reactions like "please never have this character on the show again." This is a free podcast, it comes out up to two times per week, and it's ephemeral by nature. If a bit falls flat, there's going to be a new episode next week. That's not say there's anything wrong with criticism ... but as far as free podcasts go, I'm more likely to talk about stuff I love and just stop listening to something I'm not enjoying.
  13. I just wanted to say that when Hoffman scrapes the dried cum off of Giamatti's back and makes him eat it I ACTUALLY gagged. Never happened from listening to a podcast before. This is not a complaint -- I think it just shows how fucking amazing Adomian is.

    Episode 210 β€” A Spiritual Journey

I cannot disagree more. She was fantastic in this episode. And yeah, Adam Brody was great. I get the sense that he's not into the comedy world at all, but somehow he knew exactly how gel with everyone in the room. Hope he comes back for more. And finally, I ALSO agree with everyone on Shelby! The fucking pop culture references were so funny to me delivered in that voice with that air of seriousness. So great. One of my favorites of the year so far.

    Episode 192 β€” GoodFelines

At first I was excited at the prospect of being famous for a week, but 3 days in and I'm really starting to feel like I've been cursed. I enjoyed the attention of the paparazzi at first; mugging for the cameras, shooting the shit with the photogs. I skipped to the front of the line of club after club. I slept with more women than I could count. The drugs were everywhere. But these days, I feel empty. My friends stopped coming around when the handouts ran dry. My family stopped speaking to me. I spend my days in a mostly-unfurnished Italian-style villa, with only the landscapers and housekeepers as my company. I remember the day I submitted my plugs theme with wide eyed innocence. "Maybe one day, Scott will play it, and I'll be famous for a week," I thought to myself. Be careful what you wish for.

    Episode BO2012.2 β€” Best of 2012 Pt 2

The clip chosen for Farts and Procreation made the most sense, but for some reason Adam Scott saying "you know how to make a baby show him your dick" and Scott and Harris closely analyzing that statement is the moment from that episode that made me drive off the road from laughing too hard.

84- Live in New York (w Ira Glass)

Did anyone else feel like everyone (particularly Ira) was piling on poor Aaron with the Mormonism thing? I enjoy a good wrangle as much as the next guy, but this seemed just on the line of good natured ribbing/mean spiritedness. A great episode though!
