    Episode 175 — Mop Water

Did he mention not wanting one to make it to the top ten? That would be crazy if he didn't want this one, it was a pure joy and a totally brilliant idea. Justin Kirk had a total blast from the sound of it. This is one of my favourite episodes of anything, including TV of all time!

    Reality Bites (1994)

Clearly written by rich, middle aged marketing psychologists to capitalize on the grunge movement by manipulating the pituatary glands of pubescent upper middle class girls who don't yet realize that going out with a greasy, smelly (I swear I could smell him), whiny, narcissistic, abusive wifebeater is only exciting for about 2 days until he hits you in the face because you gagged when he peeled off his fermented sweat and uriny underwear. Worst (best?) scene ever is when Ben Stiller shows Wynona Rider his commercialized sellout version of her video - given that Reality bites is already the epitome of commercial insincere selloutdom, the director's attempt at creating what he thinks a commercialized video looks like is so insane that if it doesn't give you brain damage, it will make you laugh your ass off as you're upchucking... I remember watching it as a kid and every guy I knew was like "why did she go out with that selfish guy who hit her in the face instead of nice, supportive Ben Stiller" and all the girls were like "he's so dreamy!" about Johnny Greaseballs!

    Reality Bites (1994)

Never saw Cable Guy cause I was always allergic to Jim Carrey, but I should check it out cause I always love or at least like Apatow movies, and there are some things with Carey I really like now. I eventually came to like Carey when I saw Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Also liked Earth Girls are Easy which I saw a couple of years ago and I think Carey has no lines... It's his hyper Robin Williams on even more coke style that I don't like. And I couldn't watch more than 10 minutes of Dumb and Dumber. Since then I've seen most of In Living Colour (we didn't have that in Canada when it came out - It was all about Kids in the Hall in those days!) and he was really really good in that, so I'm more open to watching movies with him in it now than in his heyday.

    Reality Bites (1994)

Oh wow, I didn't realize Stiller directed Reality Bites! I assumed it was a cyborg marketing psychologist owned by warner bros studios... I love Ben Stiller, he's smart and funny, I loved his sketch comedy show, and most of his movies, his curb your enthusiasm and Tim and Eric appearances, etc. - very surprised that he directed such an obnoxious stinker as Reality Bites. I assumed all the actors were just doing it because they needed the money. Sorry Ben! But what do I know, it was a huge smash hit, contributing to my misanthropy. That's what you get when you assume! Thanks for letting me know...

    Episode 41 — Spider-Man 3

I realize I'm reviving an ancient thread about an old episode but WTF? I just listened to this, and read through these posts, and despite being a huge Paul Scheer and Jason Mantzoukas fan, I can't disagree with everyone more! I really feel like everyone missed the point of this movie. Sure Spiderman III was long, and had too much going on, and sure there was plenty of superfluous and ridiculous nonsese as described on the HDTGM episode, but superhero movies are supposed to be dumb, and Spiderman III was by far the best of the Spiderman movies, and one of the best superhero movies made yet. Unless they're Alan Moore adaptations, big hollywood superhero movies are generally kind of stupid. They're written by 14 year olds for 14 year olds. Mass audience, LCD. Spideman III wasn't genius, but it was fun and it was a bit different. It had a sense of humour about itself. It was charming, just like marvel comics are at their best. That scene with funky Peter pimpin his new duds down the street, being derided by babes was hilarious and one of my favourite scenes of any film ever. I liked that Sandman was just tryiing to help his daughter, you could actually relate to him, and I was in fact rooting for him. FU US health care system! Anyways, long dead thread and no one cares, but if you watch this movie without expecting the depth of ancient greek epics, nor to be blown away by teenage testosterone, it's a fun 2.5 hrs. I do have to say I feel pretty dumb agreeing with the obviously retarded amazon.com reviewers quoted on the show, but hey, so be it!

    Snubs and Flubs!

As the quality of the show is generally so high (with some exceptions of course, it is improv after all!) there were lots of great episodes that didn't make it to the top ten, but the only one whose abscense (including from the bonus highlights) really shocke me was MOP WATER aka MIKE THE JANITOR - to me this was one of the best episodes of the whole series ever. Like september 11 2001, I can totally remember what I was doing when I listened to it (that's actually true for several of my fav episodes!) and I was rapt with delight the whole time, it was just so thoroughly entertaining. Seriously, I wasn't sitting but I was like on the edge of my proverbial seat the whole time waitng to see how ALW would slowly put the pieces together as to his true identity. Meanwhile, his enduring class consciousness which even the bounds of amnesia could not shackle was just fucking hilarious! Really suprised that even paul f thompkins was hyping the orphan episode (which was great too) instead of Mike the Janitor. Oh well!

    Episode BO2012.2 — Best of 2012 Pt 2

There are a few weakish episodes here and there, but maybe it's just me, but for me, I'm amazed that a totally unscripted free show is one of the most entertaining hours of anything in any medium. I can listen to hours and hours of it and it's generally a pure delight. I'm of course talking about WTF with Marc Maron... haha, kidding, Comedy Bang Bang all the way - if I had to play "would you rather" and the choices were give up ever watching any TV or movies or podcasts for the rest of my life except for CBB, or else give up CBB, I'd give up everything else. Oh shit, I decided before the question floor was closed, I'll probably end up being raped by ants every time I sneeze with that choice...

    Episode BO2012.2 — Best of 2012 Pt 2

I'm really shocked at the results! Most of what was on the top ten were among my favourites (especially Adomian as Tom "porking buttholes" Leikus) and it was a delight to listen to both episodes) but am I the only person who thought that the Mike the Janitor episode (mop water #175) was one most entertaining hours of any podcast, ever? I can't believe it didn't even make the top ten! I was sure it was going to be #1! Even Paul F Thomkins seems to like Time Bobby better - which is great, but it didn't make me laugh half as hard... Is there a page up with the results and the vote counts?

    Episode 193 — Best of 2012 Pt 2

WTF (as in the expression not Marc Maron)??? Most of my favourites were represented, and it was a delight to listen to the best of episodes, but how on earth did the Mike the Janitor episode not even make it into the top ten?? That was one of my favourite hours of entertainment of any form, nevermind just my favourite comedy bang bang episdode! Glad Tom Leykis made it, that one was also amazing, but something's wrong in America when the riveting Mike the Janitor/ALW episode is neglected by not only all the fans, but by Paul F Tompkins himself who pushed for the orphan episode (which was pretty funny too). If I didn't already live in Canada, I would move here in protest.
