Looking at the Trailer, I'm already tired of Jane Fonda trying to make "Georgia Rule" a thing.

The Scarlet Letter (1995)
inactiveuser501 replied to inactiveuser501's topic in Bad Movie Recommendations
The Siskel & Ebert Review online is what really sold me on checking this out. http://siskelandebert.org/video/GBO1X82O6U3U/The-Scarlet-Letter--Blue-in-the-Face--Jade-1995 By the way, does anyone else notice that score for this movie is basically the same 5 minute track on repeat? There is literally just one chorus used for every scene! (and Apparently Demi Moore was responsible for rejecting two other scores and wanting this one) -
That's what I'm saying! Guys, it's almost been 20 years since Showgirls has come out. That is insane, and to think that there may be people who listen to the show and have never seen it warrants a one last hoorah for the most spectacular failure in movie history! And if you could get Kyle MacLachlan or Gina Gershon to come on, I will just explode into anticipation.
-
Disagree. If they can do the thoroughly discussed "Batman and Robin" and "The Room", then Showgirls can be on this list too. The reason that Indy 4 and Star Wars get a pass is because, in my view, a lot of the hatred came from fan-based reactions from expectations not being met. Showgirls is just straight-up crazo from minute 1. But I feel like if they do it, it would be on a 100th episode type deal. And I don't know why, but something in my gut says June hasn't seen it, so I want a reaction!

Faye Dunaway as the Hotel's Boss. FAYE DUNAWAY AS THE HOTEL'S BOSS. HOW HAS THIS NOT BEEN DISCUSSED?!?
-
...And Now I can't stop thinking of the 2009 Classic the guys should do next as "Street Fighter III: The Legend of Chun-Li"
-
I just want reaction shots from inside the studio, just to see John's reaction to the "Shoehorned In" quote and Jason's reaction to the love for Van Damme's speech. Also, did anyone else notice and love that during Jason's laugh at "What exactly is a Street Fighter?", June quietly said twice "I don't know..." is the most amazing way?
-
But anyways, I would just like to say THANK YOU PAUL!!! I knew I wasn't the only one who saw that there was a sexual tension to Ken and Ryu's relationship! I don't know why, but when they said 'I only saw the left side' 'Good I saw the right', it just felt dirty. Also, June was amazing, Jason's high-pitched laugh at June was the highlight of my week, and after the disaster of the Spice World forum, the last thing we need is the 'Black Wedding/Regular Wedding' controversy. Overall Amazing episode.

I'm guessing now isn't a good time to recommend 'The Birth of a Nation' on the forums...

I don't mean to extend this debate on the racial implications of Scary Spice, but the reason that I didn't think it was racist for Mel B to be in the loincloth was because I honestly thought she was doing a Raquel Welch/One Million Years BC impression during the Saturday Night Divas photo costume montage

Oh my god, after watching this last night for the first time, this was unpleasant. This is just so hateful a movie, and the antagonist (Baby Larry King) is just so cold hearted that I couldn't even stomach it. And when you take everything that happened in the movie in the context of the ending, it's clear that North is an insane person. Do this movie, avenge Roger Ebert!

Bad Movie Recommendations Tournament of Gold
inactiveuser501 replied to therealjayknox's topic in Bad Movie Recommendations
I think a theme for each week could work. Tie it with certain stars, genres, or to Razzie Nomination (Example: Megan Fox poll that would decide between Transformers Movies, Jennifer's Body and Jonah Hex) -
Bad Movie Recommendations Tournament of Gold
inactiveuser501 replied to therealjayknox's topic in Bad Movie Recommendations
I hope the polling idea gets put in place, because I'm pretty sure that'd be the only way to get these guys to see The Happening. -
This is, quite possibly, the worst movie that no one can remember. There is so much insanity that you would think this would become a cult classic, but it just isn't on the radar. And yet, it opened at #1 and made over $100 million. Anyway, Julianne Moore plays a woman whose child is missing, but is being told by her therapist (Gary Sinese) and husband that her son never existed in the first place. These plot points, by the way, are given within the first 2 minutes, the exposition is horrible. This film mainly is tied to the twist ending, which I'll hide below, so SPOILERS. THIS IS PRETTY BIG, SO ONLY LOOK IF YOU'VE SEEN IT OR WON'T SEE IT Guys, do this movie just for the twist of Shyamalan proportions.

There is just so much insanity going on all over. There are, apparently, gay sex scenes subliminally cut into the murder scenes. So many times I wanted to say that there something going on, but it wasn't. And I'm being serious when I say that there is a straight up ghost in this movie that is responsible for the identity of the killer. This is bananas.

Guys, Dan Akroyd plays a Cowboy and Kathy Bates plays an Eskimo in full red-face. I don't care if it's a kids movie, it is worthy of a review/

And was never mentioned again? I found that very weird. Although, it did add fuel to my latest insane conspiracy theory. A Hard Day's Night was released in 1964, and Spice World was released in 1998. A 34 year difference between British Band phenomenon in America resulting in films. Since then, it has been growing more rapidly, so I divided the 34 in half to get 17. 17 years after Spice World is 2015. What I'm trying to say is that I fully expect One Direction to release a ripoff of A Hard Days Night (or better yet, a ripoff of Spice World) in 2 years

I actually disagree, it is June's breaking through the shows rhythm that gets the most enjoyable episodes. Until I heard her take, I never took Barb Wire in the context of trying to be sexy feminism. It also does provide Paul and Zouks good material to mock how the films just failed at that. They could have done that here, it's just that June almost couldn't get a word in, and when you consider the Legacy of the Spice Girls and Feminism, it'd be like doing Barb Wire without mentioning that Pam Anderson has large boobs. Also, this is (as of 4/4) the Second Most Responded forum topic based on a full episode, coming behind Sleepaway Camp. So kudos, and Paul should probably bring this entire discussion up on the minisode.

I guarantee that if you got every film lover in the world and showed them this movie, there would be a battle to the death on whether scenes like this are stupid or wonderful. And I don't wanna brag, but we do have Girl Power
-
I'm pretty sure I've been listening to it 4 times a day every day since I first saw the movie...3 months ago. But the best is the extended version made for the movie, just because I love imagining the girls slow dancing before they begin.
-
I don't mean to switch topics, but did anyone else find it weird that no soundclips were pulled for this episode? I mean, even June was complaining and Paul seemed to try and casually ignore it.
-
It's almost like they all were treating the Spice Girls like every other female singer in America, with June casually reminding them that Feminism played a huge role in not just Ginger's, but the band's image as a whole. They spent too much time on the lack of story and not enough on what they were trying to do with it, which is, in fact, upsetting.
-
I did genuinely love that moment, and to me, that is what our fucking Spice World Podcast should be. The Spice Girls are all about Girl Power (which I love from a band standpoint) and this movie, for better or worse, wanted to get that across. THAT should have been the discussion. If ever there was an episode that deserved a second try, it's this one.
-
Also, maybe I'm the only one, but did anyone else think it was crazy that they spent more time discussing the Racial implications of Scary Spice over the Feminist nature of Spice World in General? I literally wondered what is happening!?!

The Garbage Pail Kids Movie (1987)
inactiveuser501 replied to Deacon's topic in Bad Movie Recommendations
Does that mean that, in effect, this is basically "Nothing But Trouble" for kids? This probably could create the first HDTGM episode where June becomes legitimately ill during the viewing and just refuses to go on air.
