Wow. I really feel honoured that Paul liked my post about the breakdown of Reindeer Games's stupid, illogical plot enough to give it an extended shout out on the mini episode. Just watched Anaconda and Devil's Advocate over the holiday to get myself ready for the next two full episodes. These movies+live How Did This Get Made live episode energy is going to equal awesomeness. A large number of my favourite episodes of this podcast have been live episodes (Cobra, Superman 3, Birdemic, Road House). There's not much I can bank on in 2013, but I'm pretty sure it's going to be another fantastic year for HDTGM.

Got to 0:27 "Epic fail bro", and I knew I was 100% in at this point. -
This movie is one of the worst examples of "makes zero sense in hindsight" plots I've ever seen, as June sort of alludes to. If OG Nick planned Affleck and Sinise to act as patsies to rob the casino all along (so he could steal the money after), why didn't he give Affleck correct information on the layout or the location of the PowWow safe in prison? For his plan to work, he stills needs the robbery to occur, and he still needs it to be a success. But instead, he basically throws a car thief with no background in robbery, no good intel and no loyalty to the heist into the pot and expects it to work. Oh, and to do this, he has to sacrifice his girlfriend to a trip to the bone zone with Ben Affleck, and run the risk that Affleck at some point escapes and tells the police.

Gerard Butler looks borderline homeless in a lot of the promotional material for this. Unfortunately, I don't think this one will be as outrageous as All About Steve, which will likely keep the crown for worst rom-com of all time.

This was utterly, utterly baffling to me. So the impression I got was the same one Paul, Jason, June and Drew had; that those all in black confessionals were supposed to be Taylor and Burton reflecting on their life, love and careers from the afterlife. At one point I toyed with the idea that it was all some cosmic version of the Office, which was only strengthened when Creed Bratton showed up. But then, Taylor started talking present tense about how she missed Richard. Wait, aren't you both dead and giving an interview together? Wasn't he just sitting besides you for the past 40 minutes? What the fuck is happening here? It really feels like Lifetime cast Lohan in this because of some cynical belief that one actress struggling with alcoholism and substance abuse should be able to method act her way into portraying another actress struggling with alcoholism and substance abuse, kind of like a shitty Daniel Day Lewis. The results were hilariously bad, even by Lifetime standards.

You're right, it should be $700, 000, 000. I blame this error on my subconscious attempting to protect me from how successful these films were so I don't go insane. -

I feel really sorry for the screenwriter/s that were told by Lionsgate they had to come up with two movies worth of material for a book that really has less going on plotwise than even the first Harry Potter. No wonder they had to have a ridiculously long closing credits sequence, and create an extended battle scene that wasn't in the books. Seems like a pretty transparent attempt by the studio to simply bilk another $700,000 out of their audience. But hey, silver lining, we got another excellent episode of HDTGM.
