Love this movie, especially the bullshit science that lets sid heal himself using glass.

The only good thing about this movie was Will Pattons speech about how he was a copy machine salesman before he became some crazed warlord. I really can't believe Costner got away with a three hour runtime. This was a movie begging for edits, it easily could have been two hours long and been a much better movie because of it.

Executive Decision (1996)

Bump for Kurt Russell getting his foot stuck in a fridge in the climax of this movie. -
Very bizarre movie starring Richard Dreyfuss in his prime. Worth a watch for Raul Julia's performance alone, he's absolutely amazing in this.

Bump for this terrible movie.

Episode 172 - The Last Dragon: LIVE!
Ofcoursemyhorse replied to JulyDiaz's topic in How Did This Get Made?
I wish that were true, but Kung Lao is actually based on another famed hat thrower by the name of Oddjob. And I just want to reiterate how fantastic this movie is, especially its inclusion of one of Bruce Lee's most iconic moments in film history with that running side kick into Robert Wall. I love that they noticed William H. Macy but can't believe they didnt mention that he was wearing possibly the most 80's jacket to ever come into existence. Was a bit surprised they didnt also notice Chazz Palminteri as one of Arkadian's thugs. He was the limo driver who tried to kidnap Laura. -
Don't worry, this isnt an earnest suggestion as much as it is a plea for anyone who hasnt watched this to give it a shot sometime. Its a great low budget movie from the guy who did Kung Pow: Enter the Fist. Also stars Biff from Back to the Future and an early role from Jim Carrey. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3iCPXho7Lnk

Just realized I had merged this movie with Untraceable in my head.

I'll have to read that sometime it really is crazy to think about how many of his books have been adapted and the vast chasm of quality they span. And the only problem is that while I can always find a spare piece of paper to rip, there are only so many blind telepathic teenagers you can find on any given day to stab.

Even if this movie is too obscure for them to ever cover I still highly recommend it for your next movie night. Kim Coates and Kyle Mclachlan are two actors that are delightful in everything they do. And the premise is interesting as well, even more so when you consider that Lyft and Airbnb both came into existence after this came out. I've seen countless movies that have people sending their consciousness into androids or clones but Xchange does a nice twist to the genre with it being high level executives swapping bodies to save time on travel.

Even as a kid I knew that a movie with a laundry press as its villain is pretty goddamn stupid. And this is to someone who got scared by the talking toilet scene in Look Whos Talking too.

Aronofsky was clearly successful in that his film is obviously getting very strong reactions from people both negative and positive. And honestly the movie itself very well done. My main issue with mother! actually has less to do with the actual film and more with both how it was marketed towards the public, and people falling over themselves to call Paramount brave for releasing this. Which is horseshit. If Paramount wants to do an arthouse film filled with biblical allegories thats just fine and dandy, if they actually stood behind the movie. But to then actively market the movie as being more in the mainstream paranormal horror genre is not only dishonest to potential theater goers but also to the movie itself. Paramount thought that Aronofsky might give them something that might end up as successful as Black Swan. Its also clear that when this was screened for the executives they lost their minds and forced their marketing team to come up with trailers and ads that were meant to trick people into seeing it. What makes it hilarious is that this movie must have made the studio so happy in the beginning in terms of the clout of the director and the very high profile cast, the end result probably sent a significant amount of people at Paramount into hysterics. Below is a trailer for Holy Motors, and that movie is as strange as advertised. They didnt edit a bunch of scenes to make it seem like a rom-com or thriller.

Miguel Ferrera turned in a better performance for Night Fliers than it deserved. Ever since I saw Langoliers I've slowly torn paper with a dopey look on my face in front of probably close to 200 friends and coworkers and not a single one got the reference.

Seriously, even Sling Blade (which I think is actually the best movie when lumped in with the group above) is fairly questionable. Watching Nell makes me feel bad for Liam Neeson. Jodie Foster at least got to make a choice for her performance. The scenes where Neeson had to try and replicate speaking her language are super cringe worthy.

Just watched the Last Dragon with my wife last night, its been a while since I sat down and watched the entire thing. Entertaining on so many levels. The dude playing Eddie Arcadian King of Video Games was an absolute dynamo. Stole every scene he was in and that includes his scenes with Sho'nuff. Sho'nuff and his entire crew were amazing, The Beast of course deserves special recognition. He was so great it breaks my heart they didn't make a sequel where he takes over the gang after Sho'nuffs defeat. Can't wait for this friday!! -
I like most of his film adaptations even the worse ones like Night Flier or Langoliers. But this was just thoroughly joyless and not much fun. At least Langoliers had Bronson Pinchot to keep it interesting.

Hot to Trot (1988)
Ofcoursemyhorse replied to John John The Bastard's topic in Bad Movie Recommendations
This would be fun, but if they're going to cover anything from Bobcats earlier film career I think that One Crazy Summer would also be a solid choice. -
Thank God. I had alot of fun with Miami Connection, but it's really mind blowing how much more competently made The Last Dragon is compared to Miami Connection or Ninja Terminator.

So I love this movie despite its many problems. Brendan Fraser is essentially the human form of a golden retriever both in this movie and in life. He does a commentary for the first Mummy movie and its pretty obvious that he did very little acting in this. Christopher Walken and Sissy Spacek are both delightfully unhinged in this. Alicia Silverstone has never been the best actress but she does just fine and the supporting cast are all great including Dave Foley, and Nathan Fillion in an early role. I've recommended they do this movie in other threads before, but I have to say that I think Inkheart would be a better Fraser pick. The only thing that bothers me about movies like this, is that they glorify the 50's as the apex of civilization while ignoring the fact that was only true if you were a white dude.
-
Oh please let them do this movie at some point.
-
Still think this would be a great pick.

Movie built around a single shot of Zeta-jones booty evading lasers. Need I mention that Sean Connery is her love interest in this movie. (though I suppose her marrying Michael Douglas made this pairing a bit more realistic.)
