Episode 162 - My Stepmother Is An Alien: LIVE!
Ofcoursemyhorse replied to JulyDiaz's topic in How Did This Get Made?
In the first ten minutes when Kim is flying through space, she goes "oooh there's Saturn!" Why the hell would she call it by the name that Earthlings call it rather than whatever random name her planet chose for Saturn? -
Not only does he not learn any lesson, but he actually acts cocky towards his dad afterwards. You'd think he be able to spot his father noticeably slowing down right before the finish line. Its also infuriating because the mother, who works in the E.R. is constantly trying to get her son to stop racing because of how potentially deadly it is. The ending also comes after a scene at a racetrack that apparently is going to get shutdown because of all the accidents occuring during legal races. The entire movie sets up that this guy is going to learn his lesson about street racing, only for the ending to say "fuck you" and do the exact opposite.

Is that song in the movie? Because that is God awful.

Well thats just silly, you were right. If Postman were at all the superior movie there would be a live action show of it instead of Waterworld at Universal Studios.

Tales from the Hood (1995)

I'm a huge fan of this movie, it is pretty insane though. This was the first time I saw David Allen Grier play a villian and it was really jarring. -
Geoffrey Rush was also a pretty hard act to follow in that movie. Rufus Sewell is fucking awesome though. I wish he'd gotten more roles because he really is a great character actor.

Really think this would make a great episode. Its such a delightfully weird movie that poses the question "What if you and the person you hate from work were both Werewolves?"

So what do you think can Jeff Goldblum save the sequel?

The Hand That Rocks The Cradle (1992)

"When your baby feeds, its from my breasts" as delivered by Rebecca DeMornay will always be one of the creepiest lines in cinematic history. -
I'd never even considered that he was a career net mender before he was blinded. The way William talked about him as a giant always made me think he was a woodsman or a blackmith or something. I just assumed he took up net mending afterwards. But that does make significantly more sense than him randomly deciding that net mending was a solid way to go after losing his eyesight. The first time I saw the movie I thought there was going to be a twist or flashback where it turned out that it was Adhemar who blinded Williams father.

Trying to fix nets while blind always seemed like the hardest thing in the world to me. I really felt like Williams father should have considered other career options.

Even the T.V. show was amazing to me. To be fair, it is a fucking crazy movie.
-
It also sets up the premise that electrocuting your baby will give it magical powers and a really good memory, which is troubling to say the least.

Episode 160 - The Lake House: LIVE!

Don't forget Just Visiting. Christina Applegate plays not only his love interest but also his last living relative hundreds of years later. -

The most annoying part about this movie is that they easily could have come up with a different device for the time travel communications that would have explained the conversational style of their correspondence. Like a typewriter or a journal they both find that relays whatever they're writing in realtime. It still would have made sense and been different enough from the premise of (the far better movie) Frequency. -
I remembered seeing this when I was younger so I gave it a watch the other day when I saw it was on netflix. Couldn't believe that throughout the course of the movie, the protagonist of the movie annoyed me to such a degree I was rooting for the shadowy government agency trying to arrest him. The basic plot of this movie is a kid steals plutonium, makes a nuclear bomb to impress his girlfriend and spends the rest of the movie being surprised that apparently that shit was a bad idea.

Yea the fact that this movie leaves you thinking "Maybe these two are going to end up together" is extremely unsettling.

Hollywood Homicide (2003)

Bump for this crazy movie. -
To me it'll will always be the song that a furry Jason Bateman used to sing his way into popularity in Teen Wolf 2. I know Paul loves the original Teen Wolf, but I think this one is pretty fair game and they've already broached the teenage shift-shaping genre with Sleepwalkers. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JNKeFqMLWRs

Can it be a coincidence that Brian Krause went from playing a cat person to his next big role which was a character named Leo? Also easily my favorite part of the movie was the mother arriving at Tanya's house. Her assault on the parents and the lazy way she shoved that cop unconscious was fucking hilarious.

June not being able to accept the fact that they were mother and son made me think of Bernard not being able to see the door in Westworld.

I still cannot fucking believe his career survived after he told that woman he wanted to use a falafel on her. -

Whoops ,wishful thinking I guess. Julian McMahon would have also made for a delightful villain in this movie.
