Like Father, Like Son (1987)
Ofcoursemyhorse replied to Ribelin2000's topic in Bad Movie Recommendations
If theyre going to do any Dudley Moore movie theyre doing Best Defense or that one wheres he in an insane asylum with Daryl Hannah. -
Also this movie shouldnt be done, its fucking weird to be sure. But its a legitimately interesting and well shot and well acted movie. The Hmong actors did (it being their first acting job for alot of them) great with apparently minimal direction from Clint. Although after seeing him yell at an empty chair that was supposed to be Obama, I wonder how autobiographical this movie actually is.

Thats because ratings do not equal a good movie, just as bad ratings dont necessarily denote a bad one. We're also all guilty of assuming the gangs judgement will follow our own on every recommendation we make. But the gang has shown that you can't really guess whether or not they will enjoy a movie. June loved Daredevil, Jason genuinely enjoyed the Odd life of Timothy Green, despite the overwhelming majority of reviews that disliked it. To prove a point, watch Down and Out in Beverly Hills. It got good reviews and was well received financially. Its a fucking terrible movie.

This movie is so fucking weird. I cant believe it was made recently. If I found out they filmed it 10 years ago and then buried it until now I wouldnt question it for a second. The studios clearly knew it was a dud they spent zero dollars on advertising this thing.

EPISODE 110 — The Island of Dr. Moreau
Ofcoursemyhorse replied to JulyDiaz's topic in How Did This Get Made?
My biggest problem of the documentary is that its largely sets up the premise that if Richard Stanley had just gotten to film the film he wanted to make it would have been an amazing movie. I completely disagree with that premise. His original ideas for the movie were even more fucking insane than this movie turned out to be. The movie should have never been greenlit with Stanley as director. He just should have written the screenplay. He had no experience working a production that large before and was far too eccentric and frankly way up his own ass. -
Also this is another movie featuring Jonathan Brandis having full blown hallucinations in the middle of the movie.

Also, Jean Claude is offended that any of us dare suggest this movie.

Hot to Trot (1988)
Ofcoursemyhorse replied to John John The Bastard's topic in Bad Movie Recommendations
I feel like a podcast one this movie would revolve around them saying the same thing over and over............ "This movie is fucking dumb." -
I really hope that Paul and June arent avoiding Sandler movies on the off chance he invites them to join his next vacation film in Greenland where he'll be playing the long lost nephew of Krampus.

Yea its pretty crazy that people were jumping over themselves to give this guy money, in his interview he sounds like a bit of a shithead. And his movie is downright irresponsible to get all old man on it for a bit. I mean a movie that imparts the advice that if you're being abused by a parent, the best thing to do isnt to tell a police officer or another adult, its to craft an insanely janky and dangerous looking vehicle so you can fly away by yourself to be homeless at age six.

Oh god I can just imagine the executives from the company that makes radio flyers greenlighting their participation in the movie after hearing Richard Donner and Tom Hanks were attached. And then watching the movie in horror at the premiere as they ask themselves "Did they just use one of our wagons to kill a six year old boy?"

I'm glad he chose to do a bunch of more diverse projects his darker movies are great. Insomnia is one of my favorite things he's been in. Culkin on the other hand, chose the wrong role to diversify with and ended up just creeping everyone out.

I loved Robin Williams darker movies, One Hour Photo was fantastic. The Good Son is just genuinely upsetting. I dont know how the fuck his agent talked him into or let him do this role. Right after establishing himself as a lovable scamp in Home Alone, he decides to play an unrepentant creepy child murderer. I imagine on paper they felt they were a shoo in for an oscar or something. -Edit- I just realize I made it sound as if I was asking why Robin Williams would do One Hour Photo, I actually meant it in pertaining to Culkin.

Well this makes more sense, all their decisions seem insane until you realize "Oh her parents are fucking monsters." "In 2013 her younger sister Mariel revealed in the documentary Running from Crazy that both Margaux and their older sister Muffet had been sexually abused by their father."
