Also +1 for 12 Rounds, Littlefinger makes for a hilarious villian in that movie.
-
Although Robert Patrick is solid fucking gold in whatever role he takes on. I would have taken an enormous amount of pleasure if Al Pacino had accepted the role instead.
-
Episode should have been way longer for how disturbing this movie is.
-
Well its better than Pluto Nash at least.

Are those Pussy Willows Dottie? Only way I can get on board is if they get John Waters to discuss the making of it, he's widely known as a gem of a man who genuinely has a fucking blast filming his movies. It'd a be a definitive bummer to me if this podcast did one of his movies in a spirit other than "this is fucking awesome."

EPISODE 110.5 — Minisode 110.5

I honestly think that Island of Dr. Moreau would have been a better movie if John Frankenheimer and Nicolas Cage had gone out into the jungles and had Cage perform every role separately and then cut them together Nutty Professor style. -
I think every movie made should feature a scene of Terry Crews dancing. He's amazing.
-
And thats a great point about old school kids movies making them earn their endings. Secrets of NIMH is another darker toned kids movie that was wonderful. Or Dark Crystal which still freaks my wife out.
-
Just watched this last night, the actor they got for the nome king is fucking brilliant. This movie really is disconcerting on several levels, but goddamn if it isnt wonderful.

EPISODE 110 — The Island of Dr. Moreau
Ofcoursemyhorse replied to JulyDiaz's topic in How Did This Get Made?
Correction, at one point Paul says that Richard Lester not Richard Stanley was fired from Island of Dr. Moreau. Its hard to know which director would be more offended to be confused for the other. Omission: So Val Kilmer kills a bunny and tells Thewlis to keep it to himself, he wants to eat some meat and it'll be their little secret. Only for that rabbit to served for dinner in front of Moreau who immediately orders it to be thrown out. What exactly was the point of Thewlis not telling anybody that Kilmer didnt kill the rabbit considering Moreau's son then tells him that it was Kilmer who gave it to him to be served? -
Tim's death is less of a tragedy given the way he lived his life. He constantly put himself at risk and later his girlfriend. And for a cause that existed only in his own mind. What makes this movie so overwhelmingly depressing is a poor woman got roped into his fantasy and died trying to save him. Or that a starving bear got shot for acting like a starving bear in a place where it totally should have been cool. In no way would with this be a fun episode. You want a fun Herzog episode than try recommending Bad Lieutenant.

EPISODE 110 — The Island of Dr. Moreau
Ofcoursemyhorse replied to JulyDiaz's topic in How Did This Get Made?
Then theres seeing the documentary and realizing those poor pig women had to sit around for hours straight barechested with an additional four prosthetic breasts plastered on them for hours on end not knowing if they were even going to shoot that day. -
EPISODE 110 — The Island of Dr. Moreau

Omission: Thewlis flailing his arms above his head like a fucking weirdo after he ran out of the room with the "pregnant goat?" thing. Also what was up with that scene where the evil dog son (jesus christ what the fuck am I typing here) shoots Lomai in the head with the bolt gun and then says he got the bolt gun from Thewlis and everyone just sort of looks over at him. Am I missing something when did all this happen. Then theres when Kilmer is shot he falls straight back in his chair all comically in the middle of what is already a fucking mindbending scene. -
For how fucking weird this movie is, i'm surprised there wasnt a Battletoads cameo.
-
Hard to know if joking or if you're just straight up nutter butters. I was almost ready to defend your choice of this movie because hearing june, paul and jason discussing a man whose idea of bears apparently never matured past winnie the pooh would be fascinating. But to insinuate that anything in this movie is anything other than its stated to be is insulting, both to Herzog, and more importantly to Tim and Amie who both actually got eaten by a fucking bear.

Beverly Hills Cop III (1994)
Ofcoursemyhorse replied to Andrew1326657706's topic in Bad Movie Recommendations
The reason this movie really failed though is because the first two movies were funny because Eddie Murphy was funny in them. 3 tries so goddamn hard to be funny through its setting and set pieces but Eddie is given very little in terms of dialogue that actually made the first two movies as successful as they were. -

2 was pretty good and was similar to 1 in terms of action and pacing. 3 is weird and I can understand why Murphy was overwhelmingly depressed to be working on the project. -
I like this movie, but to say it isnt batshit insane with a host of issues to discuss is just silly. Famke Jannsen surviving a decapitation so that she can date her high school student is just one of many things wrong with this movie.
-
I do love how the end of the movie has Charles Grodin taking over the equivalent of Disneyland and using it as a torture device.

Weird but fun movie. Dabney Coleman in drag is a particular highlight. -

Sean William Scott would be a fucking amazing guest. -
The gimp suit is amazing in how unnecessary it is. But it just fits into the movie so well, I couldnt even imagine it without it. Also, I can only imagine the self confidence boost a gimp suit would give him.

This is one of those movies that bums me out more people havent seen it. It's a fantastic movie and 100% perfect for this podcast.

EPISODE 108.5 — Minisode 108.5
Ofcoursemyhorse replied to JulyDiaz's topic in How Did This Get Made?
Another movie that hilariously does this is Collateral Damage. Schwarzenegger loses his kid in the beginning of the movie, and by the end after throwing the childs mother into an electrical junction box and throwing an ax into the childs father, he gets to take home the newly orphaned child as a replacement. -
