Weekend at Bernie's 2 (1993)
Ofcoursemyhorse replied to doubleginntonic's topic in Bad Movie Recommendations
I have to say that having magic/voodoo involved goes a long way in making two guys hanging out with a corpse seem alot more normal. -
Just an all around strange movie with wildly contrasting tone throughout. Jason Lee inventing a sex robot in his underground skate park/ laboratory is just one of many scenes that will have you scratching your head as to what the fuck exactly is going on this movie.
-
i havea soft spot for it too. It was actually partially filmed in my hometown, I got to watch them film a few scenes.
-
Its amazing how many terrible Schneider movies were greenlit in the hopes of siphoning off some of that sweet Sandler money.
-
She chose the David Caruso approach to her career.
-
I was blown away that there is an apparently strong contingent of people who back the mom in that movie.
-
I'm pretty emotionally devastated right now. I saw the title topic and got very excited that they were finally covering that fucking bananas Ray Liotta movie where he injects his dead wifes brain juice into his own brain in order to see her memories. I'll have to watch this one but man I feel like they chose the lesser of the two movies titled Unforgettable.
-
Yea his current run of paycheck movies is a bummer, I recently re-watched american crime story and I still love his insane performance as Robert Shapiro.
-
I was fascinated that they opted to delve as deeply into Cannon Film's backlog of terrible movies but havent covered any of Full Moon Entertainments. Theres so many worthwhile movies for them to do between this, the Puppet Master franchise, Dollman, Oblivion, Shrunken Heads etc....
-
This movie is a pretty fascinating example of how two people can have wildly different takes on source material. The book that Goodfellas was adapted from was written by Nicolas Pileggi. His wife Nora Ephron based on the same recorded conversations with Henry Hill made this movie.
-
Had no idea the director also did Roxanne, thats an absolute trip. I have to wonder, did he feel he didn't do a good enough job adapting the material the first time around and thought this was a better fit?
-
This was a weird one, even as a kid this just felt like a very strange movie. Its essentially the Avengers for classic american folklore, and the casting is more than a bit questionable for some of the roles. Patrick Swayze as Pecos Bill is something I can get behind, Oliver fucking Platt as Paul Bunyan is about as miscast as a role can be.
-
Yea theres a bunch of 90's westerns that are all solid picks. This, The Quick and the Dead, Last Man Standing, Tall Tales etc.. Even Wagons East could be an interesting episode.
-
Walter Matthau is far more delightful in this movie than it deserves. It's a strange premise executed even more strangely. The basic plot of this movie is that between discovering the theory of relativity, Einstein was not only trying to introduce his niece to some random dude but also actively sabotaging her engagement to Stephen Fry. It also basically becomes a weird version of cyrano de bergerac, with Einstein trying to trick his niece into loving a dummy.

My Super Ex-Girlfriend (2006)

Such a weird era for Superhero movies. Nobody wanted to pay licensing rights so we ended up with stuff like this, Hancock, Mystery Men, Zoom etc. Sky High was pretty good though. -
This movie is an absolute trip when closely scrutinized. So Angel's arrive to help out a losing team, but in a rather vain move they only help out the losing team that has Angels for their team name. And then proceed to help a team essentially cheat their way to the championships. Where not only do the Angels not show up to help but tell a justifiably confused Joseph Gordon-Levitt they're willing to help a team cheat but only to a certain extent, they also inform the boy that his baseball hero is going to die from lung cancer in the very near future. Which seems like a fucked up thing to tell the kid.

Angels in the Outfield (1994)

Only way the rules of this movie are fair is if all failing teams get their own magical avatars of their teams mascot to help them win. Like if the Cubs showed up on field with the assistance of magical bears i'd have alot less of an issue. -

I love both movies. They are fucking dumb, but Silverman and Mccarthy were a solid pairing. I almost enjoy the second one a bit more because of how amazing Terry Kiser was with his physical comedy and timing. Also the underwater sequence was actually pretty impressive and i'm sure a fucking nightmare to pull off. -
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0093543/ Golden Apples, children being whisked away on a giant flying heads beard. Christopher Lee turning kids into crows. Timothy Bottoms from Thats My Bush inexplicably being in this movie. This movie is pretty fucking weird. This reminds me of Return to Oz in its dramatic shifts in tone especially in a movie meant for children.

Episode 220.5 - Minisode 220.5
Ofcoursemyhorse replied to JulyDiaz's topic in How Did This Get Made?
Yea I feel like the Switch and Xbox might make the jump to streaming only. Ps5 thankfully will have a physical media drive and be backwards compatible with the Ps4 -
So this one is kind of a trip. I'm not certain on the exact timeline, bu this game was originally to be released on the Sega Saturn during the heyday of FMV games. The Saturn bombed in terms of sales so this movie was actually re-cut into a made for tv movie under the same name. It was then released on both PC and Ps1 as a full game with Dragons Lair-esque gameplay. And like many FMV games of its time, actually featured a fairly impressive ensemble of actors. Andrew Bowen I think was still part of the main cast of MadTv. Timothy Bottoms and George Lazenby make an appearance and even features a pretty delightful cameo from Rob Lowe as well.
