    40 Days and 40 Nights (2002)

Watched this somewhat recently after remembering that it was essentially a movie length knock off of the episode of Seinfeld "The Contest". Was not prepared for both how terrible it is, and that fucking doozy of an ending.

    40 Days and 40 Nights (2002)

I just really wasnt expecting it. Because I remember seeing ads for this movie all over the place, I think there was a movie I had on dvd that had the trailer on it so I of course saw it multiple times. I was expecting a dumb romantic comedy which this is, and then that shit at the end happens and my mouth just dropped. Its fucking amazing how tone deaf some people can be.

    High Spirits (1988)

So I think i've just now had an epiphany as to why I love this movie so much. My favorite ride at Disneyland when I was a kid was The Haunted Mansion and this movie especially in terms of the set, overwhelmingly remind me of it. It's just amazing to me that a random unconnected movie can somehow better capture the vibe of the ride as opposed to the licensed movie from Disney.

    Spawn (1997)

I watched this within the last few months as well, and I was about to come on here and post a minor defense that this movie was released in 1997 so it stands to reason that some of the CGI is of course going to look a bit dated. Then I saw what also came out that year, and that defense went right out the window. Movies that also came out the same year as this hunk of garbage include: Titanic, Jurassic Park 2, Fifth Element, Men in Black etc. It's insane how terrible some of the CGI is in this, I can understand having issues with the cape because of how it was animated in the comics and whatnot. But the scenes in hell are fucking next level terrible. Like so bad that when I was playing Phantasmagoria recently, I couldn't believe how similar in quality the CGI was between the two. DB Sweeney's character in this almost seems like he wandered in from a different movie. He just seems like such a normal person in a movie otherwise filled with broad caricatures of people.

    187 (1997)

All around insane film written by former teacher, who claimed that 90% of it was based on reality. To that I say, I really hope that he didnt base the below scene on personal experiences because I feel like those are questionable teaching methods to say the least.

    187 (1997)

I was going to say that this movie was a hybrid of Dangerous Minds and The Substitute, but with a healthy dose of Rambo: First Blood for good measure. It really is a bummer of an ending especially when you consider that this was written by a teacher and this movie is his pent up frustration being acted out on film.

    Darkman (1990)

Seeing Liam Neeson in roles like this and High Spirits makes me bummed that most of his career has been significantly more dramatic roles. Because he's amazing in both of those movies and really show how much range he has an actor.

    Venom (2018)

I'm going to see it this weekend too, I've heard it compared to Ghost Rider in terms of what kind of expectations you should have going into it. Which I think is a positive, because as silly as Ghost Rider was it certainly wasnt boring or not entertaining in any regards.

    Venom (2018)

It's a shame, I know the logistics of including Spiderman in the movie even in a cameo capacity could be a pain in the ass to arrange but I think it really would have helped this movie. Tom Hardy has also said that they cut significant portions out of the movie, and the material removed were some of his favorite scenes he shot. I can only imagine that they more than likely lost some fun scenes of Hardy interacting with the venom symbiote.

Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves (1991)

No you're right the one pictured is definitely Endor, I forgot that the Dagobah Playset was just a hollowed tree stump.

    Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead (1991)

Recently watched the 1989 academy awards skits that destroyed Allan Carr's career. And was pleasantly surprised to see the older brother included in a pretty cringeworthy routine.

Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves (1991)

They have to do this movie. Kevin Costner is such an overwhelming goober in this, like I love the guy as an actor but good lord he was fucking terrible. Him acting like he's a little forest sprite will never not be entertaining to me. I also recently learned that the Sherwood Forest playset I owned as kid was actually a re-purposed Star Wars Dagobah Swamp toy. Which was irrelevant to the four fireman who had to cut it open in order to free my finger which I had gotten stuck in it.

Episode 198 - Look Who’s Talking Too: LIVE!

It's a bummer, I remember a story from a few years back where local pilots from my area were selling Monavie on the side in order to make a living. Which was of course a pyramid scheme operation centered around smoothies, juices and nutritional powders. Elias Koteas was easily the biggest casting mistake of the entire movie. He's a great actor, but he's just so intense for a dumb movie like this. The only way his character makes sense to me is if he's actually the one who robbed Kirstie Alley's friend, and the robber at the end is just some random burglar that Koteas realizes he can pin his crimes on. Like i'd be shocked if at some point in the script he wasn't involved with the robbery subplot.

    Cool World (1992)

I feel like they should have just reached a point where they just gave up and decided to make this into a FMV game instead.

    Blow Dry (2001)

Bumping this, because it has to be done. I unabashedly love the whole contest sequence at the end of the movie. Plus you get to hear Josh Hartnett do some super questionable accent work. Rachel Griffiths hair and costume for that were out of this fucking world. Whoever the hair and makeup team for that movie was i'm sure they had the times of their lives coming up with and executing all of those amazing designs.

Episode 198 - Look Who’s Talking Too: LIVE!

I have to touch on a couple of things that Jason brought up, first up the notion that Travolta as a pilot isn't making enough and has to drive a taxi as a second job is firmly rooted in reality. Most starting pilots make less than $20,000 a year, so thats perfectly believable to me. The other is him noticing how macabre the cartoon that Mikey is watching and being confused as to how a parent could let a kid watch that. Growing up, one of my parents bought a Tex Avery collection of cartoons on VHS that I watched endlessly. You want to talk about some questionable shit, you should try watching Screwball Classics sometime and see how not well thats aged. The cartoon in question is actually an old school Betty Boop from the 30's. And the art style of the cartoon should be familiar to anyone who's played the absurdly difficult Cuphead. They were directly inspired by the old cartoons from Max Fleischer. The full cartoon is below, which is actually really interesting, especially how well they animated Cab Calloways dance moves.

    South Central (1992)

This did well critically when it was released but, good lord it has not aged well. The acting and writing in this is........questionable to say the least. There are times when this movie almost feels like its parodying Don't Be a Menace, rather than the opposite way around. Its like watching a cutscene from Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas stretched to feature length.

    Mandy (2018)

My biggest fucking gripe with them cancelling the original Law and Order is how fantastic Linus Roache was taking over for Sam Waterston. He was an absolutely perfect fit for the show, and Sam Waterston being promoted to D.A. just seemed like a brilliant way of keeping him on as they introduced Linus into the role.

Episode 198 - Look Who’s Talking Too: LIVE!

Yea the apartment in the first two movies actually looks like a legit, lived in apartment from people with kids. The third one they're living in a massive brownstone that theres not a chance in hell they could afford.

Episode 198 - Look Who’s Talking Too: LIVE!

So i've watched all the movies in this series multiple times. I think I can pretty comfortably say that this one is the fucking worst. It's boring and a little depressing that the couple we watched fall in love in the previous movie are almost immediately at odds with one another in this. And Roseanne's voice acting is just grating. Elias Koteas is also a really strange casting choice for this movie as well. He just brings a super weird energy to the role. Like if his story arc had ended up with him being the robber, it wouldnt have surprised me at all. The third while being garbage does have some weird but funny moments. The fact that Julie walks around with a Charles Barkely doll the entirety of the third movie always stood out as being hilarious, especially when they reveal later that she likes basketball players because she thinks they can fly. I also liked that in the third one, Travolta's character never for a moment entertained the notion of cheating on Kirstie Alley with his boss. The confusion and embarrassment he has for his boss when she reveals her feelings for him was always fucking hilarious to me. Also this came out somewhere around the same time as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, so when I saw this movie as a kid I actually thought that Casey Jones was also in this movie when Elias Koteas showed up. Am I crazy or did they not talk about Gilbert Gottfried's wildly inappropriate cameo as a daycare operator. I think he tells a toddler he'll smack them if they dont start dancing with John Travolta. Speaking of, I know its in Travolta's contract that he has to have a moment where he dances, but this one in particular feels incredibly tacked on.

Short Circuit 1 or 2...or both!

Short Circuit 2 has the rare distinction of both being better and worse than the original movie simultaneously. It's terribly written, but alot more fun in general. It also has the benefit of having Lea Thompson in it who is wonderful in everything she's in.

    The Evil Within (2017)

I'll have to watch this sometime, I will agree with a sentiment an earlier poster made in that Frederick Koehler really isn't my favorite actor. He's consistently played roles like this throughout his whole career, and he doesnt do it all convincingly.

    Wolf (1994)

They fucking have to do this movie. The werewolf fight scene between Jack Nicholson and James Spader is pretty goddamn spectacular.

    The River Wild (1994)

Watched this movie again last night and its just so fucking dumb. Kevin Bacon is like the weirdest fucking villain imaginable in this. It's also unfortunately from a time where no one in Hollywood knew how much of a national treasure John C. Reilly is and cast him in throwaway roles like the one he plays in this.

    Shrunken Heads (1994)

Such a fucking bizarre movie. Considering its about three murdered children who corpses are subsequently decapitated for voodoo rituals, it really tries to have a lighthearted fun tone to it. Which oddly enough doesnt quite work.
