By the time I came around drive in theaters were a bit of a thing of the past. I asked my dad about them once. Not knowing how they worked I asked "Why couldn't you just sit across the street and watch the movie for free?" to which he said "Why do you think they all went out of business." I believed I genuinely hit upon the answer for longer in life than I should have.

HDTGM Classics Vol 9 The Tourist May 11th 9PM EST

Works for me! -
Sorry, as I said it was kinda of the moment though. I was thinking non diegetic song. Like in Twilight and Beautiful Creatures were are not suppose to assume the song being sung is by the character even though it is the actor or actress singing that song. It just so happens that the actor dabbles in music and they used one of their songs i.e. Agent J is not singing "Men in Black" Will Smith is and the song happens to be in the movie that Will Smith is in.

This is my bad. When Cameron was writing about it earlier I remembered how Russel Crow's band had a song in Virtuosity and Will Smith had a song for a lot of his movies and thought it was more common than maybe it is.

Considering That Thing You Do was part of Musical Mondays I'm going to have to say they don't count. I'm talking on the soundtrack, played in the movie but not sung by the character like the RPat or Lena song. That said Sing Street and Once are beautiful and great movies and everybody should see them and buy the soundtracks.

What is the best original song (musicals don't count) in a movie to be sung by one of the stars of the movie?
-
I had to look this up and this is from his wiki They just can't stop putting his music in his movies!

Let's talk alligators y'all. When Ridley and Link are making out on the Tom Sawyer raft in the swamp lands of South Carolina we see they are surrounded by alligators. Whoa, bad ass right? Wrong! See this scene is in late December, and even though alligators are cold blooded they still do not like winter time. In fact in the winter time they enter a state of brumation. What's brumation? It's basically hibernation but for reptiles. When does this occur? When the temperature starts to dip below 70 degrees (21 Celsius). While Gatlin is made up know it is the low country or the coastal area because of the alligators and in these areas of South Caroline the mean December temperature is around the 48 to 50 degree mark (9 to 10 Celsius)! So those alligators in Beautiful Creatures would be sleeping and not swimming around. Unless of course Ridley's powers extend to alligators in which case she probably killed them.

Musical Mondays Week 38 Preview (Tomspanks' 3rd Pick)

I mean RDJ is always charming so I am looking forward to this. Plus I have heard that he's not a bad singer. Maybe I'm think of Harry Connick Jr. -
We get a bit of that with her sister. Apparently she was an innocent and nice girl like Lena but when the dark hits her she just kills that drunk guy for fun, and she also murders that cop. So clearly has no regards for human life and it is something for her to play with. So much like Star Wars, you go to the dark side and get a better ascetic and kill people willy-nilly.

So where in the rules does it say a dog can't play basketball?

Yes! I kid you not that is one of my favourite go to youtube clips to watch when I'm down. It is one of the most adorable things ever and if it doesn't bring a smile to your face you must be dead inside. For those that don't know. -
Musical Mondays Week 37 Blue Hawaii

I wanted to get to this earlier but my mother has been busy I guess. Hopefully I'm not to late for the Ted Neeley Handsome Report: Me: Mom, so last week we watched a movie I don't know if you've seen. Mom: That's a lot. Me: We watched the Elvis movie Blue Hawaii Mom: Nope. Me: No? Any reason why? Mom: I don't think I've seen any of his movies. Me: So you weren't an Elvis fan? Mom: Not in the least. I guess he's okay. Not for me. Me: Bit before your time? Mom: I guess so. Me: Plus you were more into the Beatles. Mom: Not really. Me: What?!? When (my sister) and I found your old record collection there was a ton of Beatles! Mom: I like their music but I wasn't into them. Me: Really? Who were you into? Mom: The Monkees and The Beach Boys Me: All of them? Mom: Davy Jones. I don't think I knew any of the Beach Boys or I don't recall. Me: Brian Wilson. Mom: Yes. Mom: He had troubles later. Mom: Couldn't pick out of a line up. None of them. Me: So Elvis vs Davy Jones, Davy Jones is the more handsome? Mom: I was a pre teen so yes. Me: Then in those teen years it was all Ted Neeley Mom: I don't know why you like to bring that up. -
I also want to know how movie theaters in small towns work. So when Han Solo is explain how small Gatlin is he says "by the time we get a movie it's already on TV and our theater always gets the title wrong." Which is fine but the movie showing as he runs by is Inception which came out in in July of 2010. Then a month or so later he and Lena are at the theater and are watching Final Destination 5 which came out in August of 2011. Let's give them the benefit of the doubt and say it was two months later. In two months they jump a year in movies? Is the population so small that they change the movie weekly because by then everybody who wants to see it has seen it? Between Inception and Final Destination 5 there were a lot of big movies released. Thor, Captain America the First Avengers, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows Part 1 and 2, Fast Five, Transformers Dark of the Moon, Piranha 3D (Hi, Paul!) all come out between these movies. If for some unknown reason this theater only plays Warner Bros. movies 22 of them came out between Inception and Final Destination 5. How does this theater make its choices and why Final Destination 5?

Now I kinda want to see all the scenes of Macon home schooling her all these years. He must have done a good job if she got to skip a few grades.

Also on a side note, I kept getting this movie mixed up with Nocturnal Animals all week. I can't explain it. The titles aren't that similar but for whatever reason that's the movie I kept looking for.

Here's something I missed and I am hoping one of you all could fill me in on a line or explanation I might have missed. So Lena has a magic tattoo on her hand that is counting down the days until she turns 16. I get that, but why? I must have missed the line if this was explained or not but I don't get why the tattoo is even there in the first place. First, she knows when her birthday is. Second that's not going to help her blend in at school. It's big and right on her hand, so it's only a matter of time before someone says "didn't that say 83 the other day?" Also when did it get there? Was she born with it? Does it appear at puberty? Do all casters have magic count down clocks?

There is nothing in the rule book about dogs giving high fives. Fun fact: I tried for a long time to get my school to add the Air Bud and Buddies movies in addition to M.V.P (Most Valuable Primate and Most Vertical Primate) to our DVD library to play for the kids. Mainly because I want to watch time but not so much so I want to use my free time to do so. -

I wish I could be more interesting or unique but as I said earlier I only really know the hits. Favourite is "Suspicious Minds" but I do also kinda have a soft spot for "In the Ghetto" as well. As far as covers go I am more familiar with the UB40 version of "Can't Help Falling in Love" than the Elvis one. -

That's who he is! I just keep thinking of him as a discount Peter Sellers.
