    Episode 157.5 - Minisode 157.5

When I read it I thought "Hmmm, a tad too close to Guinness maybe for Cameron's liking"

Episode 158 - Body Parts: LIVE!

I thought that is a very good pick. I am one of those fools who watched all of True Blood, and Ryan Kwanten quickly became the only light in that miserable tunnel. He looks much more the part, and has more charisma and presence too. Feel free to post more pictures though.

Spot on! What do you think Tom, should I watch it when I have time or like Cameron said just watch that one fight scene and move on?

Episode 158 - Body Parts: LIVE!

I hope not. Even on Game of Thrones he was kinda whiffing it. I think he was cast because he was blond first, in good shape second, on a hit show third, and let's say acting was... eighth? Also Finn Jones nowhere near my dream casting.

Episode 158 - Body Parts: LIVE!

Okay, even though Cameron basically told me not to, after reading everything everybody has to say about Iron Fist my interest in seeing how bad it really is peaked. So with that in mind here my two cents of the issues raised. I have been an Iron Fist fan from way back and it still annoys me that him and Misty broke up and she's dating Falcon now. This show may push me over the edge. In regards to his casting, it doesn't matter to me if he is white or not. What matters more is that he is the character rather than what the character looks like. Considering Marvel has been okay with playing fast and loose with character appearances and costuming already why should they try to stick so strongly to Danny Rand's look? Based on what I've seen they didn't even do that either. Danny Rand was always kinda preppy hot in the comics, but in the show he looks like some curly haired bearded weirdo. My only real casting wish was that they got a true martial artist to play the part. Someone who acting was maybe second to their skills. Clearly they did not go this route. I can only hope that by them not casting him as Asian this leaves the door open for Shang Chi. Though I don't think I want to see him fight Finn Jones. As far as what I would have wanted to have seen? My thoughts are basically the same as Cameron H's. Seeing as how Danny needs Luke, and those character should be together, if you're going to do a solo Iron Fist series the story should be something that Luke would not be involved with. Fighting triads in New York sounds more like a Heroes for Hire story than a solo Iron Fist story. Therefore I would have wanted something along the lines of The Immortal Weapons, or even that recent Kaare Andrew series. Make it an homage to classic martial arts movies and go for that rival schools type story. Or a grand tournament type story.
  8. Tom Collins... My non-talking about the movie thoughts about him were much like EllenMc I grew up with him on Law and Order was taken aback a bit about how him and Jerry Orbach were both musical stars and partners on Law and Order. Also every time they said his name I thought of the cocktail which in turn made me think about Frisky Dingo. Boosh!
  9. I'm the commuter who has his hat used as prop by some weirdos on the train and thinks "Oh, how I wish I could drive in this city."
  10. So I had one night free this week until Sunday rolls around so decided to get this in. I wish I had waited because I just want to talk about it so much!!

Episode 158 - Body Parts: LIVE!

Back when Marvel was announcing their films I thought Iron First, while not fitting in with the Avengers, would be perfect because you're right. His origin story is simple enough to make a tight movie with an open ending to see where it goes. Also you're right he would have been perfect to slot into Luke Cage or The Defenders a la The Punisher. Like Luke just sees this weird homeless looking guy roaming the neighbourhood. He stops him and asks him what's going on, and finds out that he's been away for twenty years or so and is just out there. He agrees to help him track down these people. Soon he finds out he's got abilities of his own. This builds the foundation for that friendship which is key to these two characters!

Episode 158 - Body Parts: LIVE!

Sorry for the double post but a brief note about Body Parts. Brad Dourif must have filmed all his scenes in one day. How do I know this? Well his outfit is virtually the same in every scene. When Jeff Fahey first meets him he's wearing tan slacks, blue button up shirt, with greyish black jacket underneath his undone smock. Oh he's also wearing an undone bow tie to match. Next time we see him is in the bar and he actually removed the bow tie and thrown on a tweed overcoat. The rest of the outfit unchanged. Then when he's back in his studio it's the same outfit as the first scene minus the bow tie. This time his has red paint all over him yet his smock is still undone! This raises a few questions like why does he paint in a suit and why leave the bow tie dangling there? Was it done up at some point or was it just for show? Is this guy like Sam Raimi in that he wears a suit at all times while working? For that matter why does he even bother to put a smock on if he's not going to do it up. What's the point! You're getting paint all over your shirt and if you don't want to get your jacket dirty why did you put it on in the first place?
  13. Oooo... I wonder how many of us will feel the same as Jimmy Pardo

Episode 158 - Body Parts: LIVE!

I have a very busy work week this week so can't be on here as much as I'd like. I won't be getting a chance to start watching Iron Fist until next week most liklely but based on what I read and what you guys have been saying I'm hesitant. Much like my fellow Cameron, Iron Fist was always a favourite of mine and from everything from what I've seen and read just seems to me like they don't get the character. From the casting, to what I've read of the plot it just seems like this was tossed off because they needed to use the character opposed to wanting to use him. I could be wrong. I hope I am but according to you all I'm not. I have a question, I'll post in a spoiler because I'm not sure but.. That might make me more eager to watch it.

Oh no you weren't blunt at all. It very well could be that my Mom knew of the movie and I didn't and I was perhaps a bit dismissive of her when we talked. No need to apologize.

Maybe I'm alone on this but every time they said the name Charlie Fletcher I thought to myself "Isn't that the guy that played Roger Rabbit?"

Haha! Maybe for everyone's second pick we should all defer to suggestions from our mothers.

Me too. When I told her that the people online(you all) liked her thoughts on Ted Neeley her basic reply was "I'm too old for people to listen to my thoughts on men." I actually believe she referred to herself as a fuddy-duddy rather than old. Oh, and because I told her we talk about musicals she asked when were we going to talk about Showboat. I told her when it gets made into a movie and she was shocked it was never made into one.

    Musical Mondays-Week 7-Cabaret!

Just talked to my mother for her Ted Neeley Handsome Thoughtsâ„¢ specifically on the issue of of Max and his milk mustache. She has never seen Cabaret or saw it but couldn't remember it. So I had to find a picture of Max to show her. Her overall thoughts, (This is the picture I showed her) "No, you're right about it being weird. If it was a proper mustache and not that Clark Gable style it would look better." "So grow a big mustache or go home?" "Well he needs it. He'd look 19 if you shaved it off him. Like Leonardo DiCaprio." "Yea Leo is kinda permanent baby face. Some people like that." "True. He's very popular with the ladies." "So a young face makes you handsome?" "No I wouldn't say handsome. Cute or charming I suppose." TL;DR: Blonde mustaches are okay if they're big and you aren't handsome if you have a baby face.
