  1. The past 4 Sunday's suddenly my old dungeons and dragons group became inspired to start up again. The difference from before is they're clearing content fast, also I'm already a crap dm and now I'm rusty too. What kinds of events happened in your campaigns? Maybe I can get ideas from them.

Here's the event I was truly unprepared for, when they got a map from the antagonists castle they decided to check out marked positions on it. Along the way an orc encampment. Rather than avoid a hundred orcs they decide to check it out. The Mildred of our group, apparently not paying attention goes along with it. Maybe even not a problem since orcs are lawful evil typically in 2nd ed ad&d. Except the party has a low intelligence, 3 charisma orc hating elf ranger. My players are the best and they will play based on their character. He pulls out his vorpal arrow, rolls a natural 20 and now there is about 99 angry orcs left. This did not turn out well, rather than saying we're dead they roll out their fleeing and fighting. Surpassing my expectations of rolling against almost a triple digit group they survive a volley of arrows from the orcs with ranged weapons and they kill a couple more.

Now they've rolled New characters and I need to catch up on a main story and side stories. Old characters had survived just long enough to unveil the beginning of each of their special side arcs so it would be obvious if I try to reuse them.

  2. Hyuk! Uhhh...

    Hyerk! Ahhh...

    Hyuk! Uhhh...

Tears. Real tears. Why was that so funny?

This got me too, I had to explain to a co-worker that the funny man on the podcast was making puke noises. They did not find it amusing and I continued to laugh even when the podcast was over. I think I'm going to laugh next time I puke.

  3. You blink your eyes, and when you open them again, you find yourself standing in a dark void. You wheel about in search of a light source or landmark, but are greeted only with unrelenting blackness in every direction.

You open your mouth to scream for help, but are terrified to discover that your voice produces no sound. After several minutes of fruitless effort, you collapse to the ground, gasping for breath.

You wrack your brain for some reason — any reason — why you ended up in this abyss. Surely, it couldn't have been—

As soon as the thought crosses your mind, a blazing white spotlight envelops you. As your eyes slowly adjust to the searing light, you notice a book laying at your feet, a leather-bound tome embossed with the title "My Posting History".

You get the feeling you'll have plenty of time to read.

What days do you upload your campaigns?

  4. The moment that made me laugh at work was when the cheese was getting heated and all the rats that were once people lost their minds. Something about that made it harder to hold in. Thanks to this podcast most Wednesdays I suddenly seem insane to my co-workers.

  5. not smug at all, Uncle D.

love every second of this podcast.

    Sark is a great DM.

maybe I'm mistaken about where he's going with this, but if not then he did plenty of foreshadowing(and more than enough misdirection).

I have a notion that next episode Brian's deep sadness will be inverted to a wailing 5hourenergy fueled high.

well played Mr Sark. well played.

I'm glad I misunderstood, probably just seeing "tons of damage" makes me expect negativity. I do agree this episode has made some "explosive" reactions.

  6. Sark-"It's a group of dwarves and a strange dwarf/wolf hybrid"

Trondor-"we walled it off, because of an... infestation"

Trondor-"strange, this city populated by ratmen wasnt here when we walled off this section of mine"

Trondor-"strange, these tunnels werent here before. the ratmen must know how to make tunnels"

Trondor-"More of an infection, or a disease than an infestation"

Sark-"on the back of the tapestry a message is scrawled "dont get bitten"heeeehehehe"

Sarah-"did any of us get bitten?"

    Sark-"heheheheheheheheh..."

Ken-"well we were swimming in a swarm of rats"

Sark-hehehehehehe... youre all scared. i love to make my friends scared"

Sark-"there's a big explosion. heheh take tons of damage. heheheh"

    Jerry-"shitty DM"

Sark-"there's a bigger explosion. heheh take tons of damage. heheheh. i love making my friends sad."

    Ken-"shitty DM"

Sark-"there's another huge explosion. heheh take tons of damage. heheheh"

    Brian-"shitty DM"

Sark-"there's explosion that's a thousand times bigger than the last one. heheh take tons of damage. heheheh... you're all dead! hehehe"

    Everyone -"shitty DM!"

Brian- cries. sobbing, calls wife from car.

Sark-"go home. don't throw away your character sheets!" See you next week listeners!

Forum- "SHITTY DM" "SHITTY PLAYERS" "WE LOVE THIS PODCAST!"

I'm not 100% on where you're trying to go with this, but to me you're coming off as a smug league of legends player that is either missing background of the podcast or listened to 50+ hours of something you don't enjoy.

I could be wrong but it just seems bitter, but I am certainly guilty of saying the wrong stuff especially on forums.

I do enjoy the podcast for two major reasons, the cast is entertaining/amiable, and they play dungeons and dragons exactly like a group of my friends.

    "We love this podcast"

Sark gets caught up in exciting situations, seeming malicious. Leaves the characters lives to chance rather than running the show.

    "Shitty dm"

I think he leaves it to chance because he doesn't either have the heart or confidence to sentence his friends to certain death. Which is why he gives them ways out. As for poor foreshadowing I have a feeling the story changes and develops in his mind as it goes to make it more thrilling unfortunately developing some plot holes.

Players get caught up in trying to act their part rather than be a munchkin.

    "Shitty players"

I believe Gerry with his silence before the rat ogre was trying to think on two levels, should I just survive? How would sir Richard try to survive? He took the harder choice once he figured out how his character would respond. What he was thinking sir Richard was thinking, I don't know.

As for Sark being sadistic and leaving Brian in the dark I think dm mode gets stuck on and he wants Brian to live the story. Awesome in some ways Sark is fucked up in some ways.

These guys all have things going on outside of this as well. I appreciate the players not playing munchkins and Ss Sark not giving players infinite plot armor.

  7. Hey Sark and guys, check this http://m.dictionary.com/definition/guy my memory serves me correctly this time! Guys can be used to address both sexes. Also can be used to describe a grotesquely dressed person which I have never heard used before.

Also Dave the torch guy just came across some cool information, I think it was intended just to share. Remember how some of us nerds speak irl, that might have just happened in text. He's a backward nerd. Bio luminescent moss is a cool idea keep that in your dm arsenal.

I wanted to calculate how much radiation or heat the cast members received from being in open space 2 hours from the sun but I couldn't with what I know. Anyone got tumors yet Sark?

  8. Ha-ha! If the unclaimed love of your life wins a battle in an arena, stand in the same vicinity as her it might confuse the competition into thinking she is already taken.

... also don't scream in pain when something tries to eat you after.

  9. Outdated but I wanted to post anyways hopefully you guys enjoy it.

This is what I expect from a necromancer

And this is what I now expect from a mechromancer

Sorry first pic turned out to be crap, penciled too light.

  10.

I was reading that as he's made a public commitment to evil, so he's pinging evil, but he's really just a sad poseur looking for attention. In other words, a typical goth.

At some point his brother will show up… "Todd, c'mon, it's time to take grandma to Olive Garden!"

"Goths" get way too much crap, I know from experience. However if Damien starts claiming to be a vampire when he is not, I really hope this happens.

Named after a time period when you have to be tough as nails while loafing around smoking bullshit...

  11. I personally feel terror for the show every time one is dying or dead. Instantly no matter who is in trouble my brain goes "no! That's the best one!" So I can't really say who I think is best.

I think I agree with el Ryan dying at his prime of awesomeness, but I can't help but wonder what background Gerry had made for him, which would explain why Gerry takes his characters deaths hard (he puts a lot more into them than we see or ever get to know).

Damien is a fun character, and I think:

    - this amarth guy sounds swell

    and

    - if only someone were here to break this kids neck

helps keep that extra flavor in our memories so Damien is a bonus rather than much of a loss.

This discussion makes me excited for what they will come up with next.

  12. A lot seemed to happen. I even almost forgot by the end to mention that Sark is making up for a perverted map he couldn't draw with a kid named porn and a village full of women named lick tuck.

I'm glad I checked this forum to help catch some jokes I've missed but I still feel there should have been more on the village name. I'm going to have to re listen to the chaotic everyone talks at the same time moment.

I really want this Kim Jung lifeboat dead, but I also want to see his character develop a bit, right now I expect when they finally meet he will shock or stun the entire party only to nefariously laugh and run to the rooftop for their final battle.

  13. This was a very fun episode. October is a very busy month so I finally got to listen to 4 to 5 hours of bp&f. I miss the flashbacks but maybe it's too much of a hassle to set one up every hour of playing. This episodes start helped make up for the waiting/hoping.

I was pretty concerned when Brian got to taste his toes with the help of landing on some railing. But Damien really brings a different but fun new aspect. Dave was messing with Brian's kool-aid, it was fun but I hope Brian gets role-playing in full gear again. I would like to see him live long enough to get familiar with spells.

  14. If anyone starts something up it would be sweet if it were observable by others. Like a twitch tv thing or something. (Also would be fun to watch bp & f but unlikely since they do a few at a time)

I've been falling to get a local group together but I might be interested in trying something out. I usually got weekends and live US est time.
