Speaking of the poster, this is the only good thing to come out of that movie: http://www.vulture.com/2013/04/youre-next-posters-temptation-big-wedding-peeples.html

I'd only seen the pommel horse clip before today, didn't know anything else about the film, and had no idea the plot was this bonkers. I'm a total sucker for anything based around a deadly survival of the fittest game. I can only hope that this is the start of a trend and eventually they'll also choose gems like The Running Man, Surviving The Game, Death Race (the Jason Statham remake, of course), Gamer, and Hard Target.

The intentionally bad dubbing in Mr. Show's "Pallies" sketch is always worth revisiting.

Top 5 movies for you personnally that they have not done yet
Bob Drillboids replied to Snake's topic in How Did This Get Made?
Although I am also desperate for The Garbage Pail Kids Movie to be chosen soon, which is most certainly an overwhelmingly insane and terrible film. -

This hits at the core of what I feel is a major difference of opinion as to what makes a great HDTGM film. For me, it's the films that are both genuinely enjoyable and simultaneously quite shitty/crazy that deserve the most attention on the show. Stuff like Fast 5 and 6, The Devil's Advocate, and Prometheus. Whereas the movies that are just overwhelmingly stupid and insane in all facets, like Sharknado and The Butterfly Effect sequels, don't really do it for me. -
Holy shit that clip from Summer Rental is unreal. Here's my contribution: http://youtu.be/hroUeu4IvpE

1) Prometheus 2) The Garbage Pail Kids Movie 3) Clifford 4) The Butterfly Effect 5) The Wizard And thanks, Snake Lee, this thread is a lot of fun. -
Awesome suggestion. Despite loving this movie when I was in fifth grade and seeing it twice in the theaters, I had completely forgotten about it. I also think it's amazing that in the UK they changed the name to "California Man."

Episode 69 — Crocodile Dundee In Los Angeles
Bob Drillboids replied to JulyDiaz's topic in How Did This Get Made?
Did I hear Paul give a shout-out to some dude with a nightmare twitter handle of "snap the jap"?? Yet another reason why I'm glad to have taken the Mantzoukas approach to twitter. -
Ugh. I once complained on the forums about someone's suggestion of Bill Simmons as a guest, but Matthew Berry is an even bigger dingus.

HDTGM Voting Site is HERE - For Your Inconsideration
Bob Drillboids replied to Shannon's topic in How Did This Get Made?
Yes, please keep it updated, the site is amazing. But it is a little frustrating to be on the fourth poll now and see that only one film has actually been discussed on the show (Howard The Duck, 3rd place in the first poll). I would guess that time constraints are probably the biggest reason for this neglect (new full episodes are every other week and it seems like a new poll pops up after about a month, so it would be really hard for the gang to keep up unless they're choosing exclusively from the polls). -
And I know I'm taking this matter far too seriously, but as a huge fan of horror, I've been so upset by the ascendence of torture porn and the subsequent dearth of actual creepy movies. I don't know why rapey and gross seem to have become the standard in modern horror, but tripe like "Human Centipede" and "A Serbian Film" are exhibit A in this upsetting trend. I'm totally okay with graphic violence (the original "Dawn of the Dead" is one of my favorite films of all time), but it needs to be part of an interesting and scary narrative. Not just a laundry list of excess and discomfort for its own sake. It reminds me of when Paul compares "In The Name of The King" to a movie adaptation of "Drunk History," in that these dumdums are rambling on with meaningless and outrageous plot elements.
-
And also, "A Serbian Film" makes "Sleepaway Camp" look like "Citizen Kane," so GTFO with that worthless comparison.
-
FUCK THAT GARBAGE. It has no redeeming value, it's not bad in a funny or subversive or crazy way, it's just utter shit that doesn't deserve any more attention than it's already gotten.

Anything worse than "The Butterfly Effect" seems like an excellent film for HDTMG. Speaking of which, how has "The Butterfly Effect" not been suggested in the forums yet??

Oh brother, I just read the wikipedia synopsis on this and the overt misogyny is out of control. I'd love to hear June tear this apart.

I guess it's time for me to eat crow. I really thought "The Room" and "Birdemic" were special cases and that similar over-the-top garbage would be avoided. But now that "Sharknado" has been featured, it appears that anything is fair game. I, for one, find the episodes involving mainstream films with big budgets and proper stars to be far more enjoyable ("The Devil's Advocate" being the best example of this and my personal favorite ep of all time) than the ones with low-hanging fruit like "Sharknado" and "A Talking Cat!?!", but to each his own I guess.

Bob Drillboids replied to temjeito's topic in Bad Movie Recommendations
I was just wondering the same thing. In addition to the lower numbers, this poll has also been up for much longer than the first one, right? Can someone please photoshop the gang into some classic P. Diddy "Rock The Vote" photo ops ASAP?? -
The Garbage Pail Kids Movie (1987)
Bob Drillboids replied to Deacon's topic in Bad Movie Recommendations
Oof, I spoke too soon, "It's Pat" is back to a commanding lead. But maybe that's not such a bad thing, as "Howard The Duck" was the previous third place finisher. -

This will never get done. It's absolutely one of those D-level, "Gary Busey-as-a-killer-snowman" films that the crew avoids.

Episode 85.5 — Bonus Cut: Yo, Is "Yo, Is This Racist?" Racist?
Bob Drillboids replied to JulyDiaz's topic in improv4humans with Matt Besser
While I totally agree that Andrew Ti/Joselyn Hughes were out of line in their generalizations about the midwest, the level of vitriol directed toward Andrew and his show is upsetting. The vast majority of what's said on "Yo, Is This Racist?" is both accurate and hilarious. I'm sure that Ti and Besser have a lot of mutual friends (eg Jon Daly) and it would be awesome if the two of them could get together for some kind of follow-up discussion. I know that Besser has nixed the idea of a "Case Closed," but maybe he'd be willing to go on YITR? at some point.
