Don't forget to include Ella in that group of evil females! And yeah their over-the-top awfulness was ridiculous. I recognize that it was necessary for these ladies to wrong Alan in some way so as to further the stupid tapping-into-Alan's-rage element of the plot, but why make them into these hateful cartoons of a human? The nurse in particular was out of control. I was getting flashbacks to the unjustified anger of every character in Sleepaway Camp.

But isn't that exactly Shariq's point? If a person of color isn't already famous (although calling Da Brat famous is being rather generous on my part), we don't bother to identify them in a meaningful way. I should acknowledge that Casey Wilson's decision to refer to the friend as "the other one" is most likely the consequence of a terrible storyline and absent character development, rather than any underlying prejudice (much in the same way that all the dudes in LOL are known as Shit Dick. Not because we are biased against young white males, but because those characters are interchangeable and worthless -- please refer to the massive LOL thread for more on this essential matter). Nonetheless I still felt icky when I heard "the other one" over and over. And I know I'm going to get reamed for making a fuss about this. I'm well aware that an online forum for a podcast about bad films isn't the ideal place for a discussion about language and race. And I know everybody's got social justice fatigue. HDTGM isn't YITR (though Andrew Ti would be such an awesome guest!). But similar issues do come up on this show (for example, think about all the times that the gang or a guest has pointed out the problematic portrayals of minorities in so many of the films they cover). And thus I think it's reasonable to discuss such issues on the forums.

I know we've seemingly analyzed just about every awful detail of this POS, but there was another ridiculous moment that I don't think has been mentioned yet on this thread - Demi Moore's character's choice to blindly trust hotcop and hop on his motorcycle immediately after meeting him. Instead of reacting like a sane human adult (which is to say, being creeped out and telling him to fuck off), she just accepts that he's a cop and goes for the joy ride home. And even if she did have some objective evidence that he truly was a police officer, that still doesn't make it acceptable to get on his motorcycle. He's a complete stranger and a creeper. She's extremely fortunate that she didn't end up face down in a ditch out by some Chicagoland access road.

Are there any listeners with a better memory than me who have kept track of which films the gang was most enthusiastic about in their recommendations at the end of the episodes? I know Fast 5 and 6 would definitely be on that HDTGM Mount Rushmore, what others? -
I've been making a solid effort to watch the HDTGM choices before listening to the corresponding episodes, but I think I'm going to have to sit this one out. Most everyone's experience of watching Temptation just seems like such an unpleasant combination of boredom and outrage.

Not quite the most posted anymore. There was a recent flurry of fantastic posts on the LOL recommendation thread, putting it comfortably ahead of The Happening. It is now a juggernaut and may become self-aware if the gang doesn't release the live ep reasonably soon. EDIT: I'm a total dumdum, I now realize you were talking about the forum as a whole, not individual sub-threads. Please forgive my ignorance. -

I mentioned this in the original thread for Monkey Shines in the "bad movie recommendations" sub-forum, but it bears repeating: please read the plot synopsis in Monkey Shine's wikipedia page (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monkey_Shines#Plot_summary). One of many highlights: "The film contains a rare example of an intimate love scene with a severely handicapped protagonist." -
FUHHHHHHH. I just rented this on amazon, should've known better and checked here first for a free stream. Other than Max Beesley as a ridiculous junior varsity Mark Wahlberg, I don't think there's too much here that's worth dissecting. LOL is a goldmine of awfulness, but Glitter is just a long bore.

Is there an equivalent of the "post-it" character in the French version? Cuz this stupid fucking movie takes every possible opportunity to remind the viewer that Ashley's Greene's character is the known as the "post-it." As if that's the funniest, most clever nickname for a clingy high school girl. Whereas (as many have already pointed out), the titular character NEVER gets called her nickname.

I was more distracted by Miley's voice, specifically during all the awful voiceover audio. I know she's got a nasal sounding voice at baseline, but this was next level nasal. It was like the one day that was all recorded just so happened to be the same day she came down with an awful cold. Apparently that $11 million budget didn't include any money for sudafed.
