Episode 93 β€” Staying Alive: LIVE!

You can watch the entire thing on Youtube. It's not very good, but 90s nostalgia is finally a thing, so you might enjoy it for that.
  2. So the Scotts are saying this new album is a concept album about what the lovable lads were going through when they were young. *ahem* http://forum.earwolf.com/topic/16542-u2s-new-album/page__fromsearch__1 Do I get partial credit for calling that?

Episode 93 β€” Staying Alive: LIVE!

Yeah! That bugged me when I listened to the show, but forgot to mention it here on the forums. Fun Fact: I only know Finola Hughes from the "Generation X" made-for-TV movie. She played Emma Frost. I like comic books.

    Episode 309 β€” Tony Macaroni

If John comes on the program again, I want him to bring along his "Mulaney" co-star NASIM PEDRAD!

Episode 93 β€” Staying Alive: LIVE!

Here's a couple of things that came into my mind as I thought about the movie: 1.) Going off the idea that Jackie is the protagonist of the movie, a good tagline would be: "She provides moral support...to a man with no morals." 2.) The gang talked about the scene where Jackie's singing a song, Tony motions her over, and she leaves the stage to talk to him, while the song is still being performed. Then Tony gets mad because Frank Stallone keeps looking at her from onstage. But the look on Frank's face isn't one of sexual attraction, it's more frustrated. Tony never even considered the idea that maybe Frank just wanted her to come back and finish the damn song !

    Swordfish (2001)

I remember it being a big deal that Halle Berry showed her boobs in this movie...and literally nothing else about it.

Episode 93 β€” Staying Alive: LIVE!

The instrumental version of "Far From Over" was also the theme song for NWA's Starrcade pay per views in the 80s.

Episode 93 β€” Staying Alive: LIVE!

This was glorious. I agreed with just about everything said about Tony being a horrible monster and Jackie being the true protagonist of the film. BUT, as much as I (geniunely) loved the music of Frank Stallone, Tommy Faragher's "(We Dance) So Close to the Fire" really stuck with me and I felt I had to download it after the movie was over (I know I mentioned this in the mini-sode's thread last week). Also, one of the new wave girls Tony rejects early in the movie was played by Joyce Hyser, star of the classic Just One of the Guys. EDIT: Staying Alive was on TV just last night (Movieplex, specifically), and I seriously considered watching it again, even though it was, like, 3 in the morning.

    Episode 92.5 β€” Minisode 92.5

I thought "Far From Over" was amazing from the first time I heard it in the movie to the last. I genuinely liked the entire soundtrack.

    NASIM PEDRAD!

    Episode 92.5 β€” Minisode 92.5

I just watched Staying Alive, and, other than Tony's chauvinism being off-putting as hell, I actually kind of loved it. I should tell you now that I have never seen Saturday Night Fever. But I love montages and synth-rock (downloaded Tommy Faragher's "(We Dance) So Close the Fire" after it was over), so this was right up my alley. Um...I'm sorry?
  12. I think my all-time favorite Mookie scene is the Indian man who gets turned on watching women eat mangoes. But yes, this episode was great. And I also wish Gil was on the show more. He's hilarious.

    The Identical (2014)

The people of Uproxx apparently agree with you: http://uproxx.com/filmdrunk/2014/09/royalty-free-christian-elvis-biopic-the-identical-is-the-ultimate-how-did-this-get-made-movie/

    Episode 92.5 β€” Minisode 92.5

Didn't realize people other than me thought so highly of Vampire's Kiss. Not so much a bad movie, as a deliberately weird one, which I guess falls outside of the purview of HDTGM. At any rate, I will rescind my nomination. Thank you for your time.
  15. Yeah, I'd never heard of Gourley before the Andy Daly PPP. I then went and listened to all of the Superego I could, and was amazed and delighted. I will second (or third or fourth) every recommendation to get on that stuff.

I can't remember, did they cover Vampire's Kiss? That's my Nicolas Cage nomination.
  17. I loved this episode almost as much as that one guy loves chemicals. Also, that guy should be Walter White.

    Episode 92 β€” The 1st Annual Howdies Pt. 2

Paul: This is how we DID IT. Jason: Did what? Made a baby? Paul: Yeah. Jason: Very formally. At long last, they have answered the question they've posed since the beginning: How Did This (baby) Get Made? Show's over, folks. 13 minutes in. Roll credits.
  19. Glad to hear The D giving some love to The Protomen. They are amazing. And since Festival Supreme is spooky-themed, maybe Scott will do a live performance of this:
  20. This was amazing. This show always has great people on it, but this episode's guest list is like an I4H Hall of Fame!
  21. I've only gotten through the trailer supercut, and had to pause to come on the forum and say that I am grinning from ear to ear. This is already awesome! I'm surprised they skipped "Ophelia Powers" from Catwoman in the awful names category. I remember Jason's mind in particular being boggled by that corny name. June STILL debating spaghetti robots! OH MY GOD! It sounds like Paul's "Wrap It Up" music is the sad piano theme from the Bill Bixby Incredible Hulk show.

I'd love to hear Paul Scheer on again. He did one episode a long time ago.

Episode 147 β€” Old Dread Ben

For some reason, the line "Welcome to Pitch Black's. I'm over here." made me bust out laughing.
  24. So weird the way Marissa seemed to become a different person when talking about the hit USA comedy Playing House. Also, I got kind of a Walter Matthau vibe from Dabney.
