Episode 146.5 - Minisode 146.5

I would still watch it, though. Cause there's honestly nothing like watching a silent film. They're so special! The makeup and prosthetics they did are outstanding and the way they manipulate the atmosphere and having his shadow alone be incredibly creepy really sets the whole tone. Basically don't watch it thinking it'll scare you but for the history of horror. -

I haven't seen Herzog's Nosferatu but I have seen the original from 1922 and I have to say it actually made me laugh out loud. I can appreciate the movie for what it is but after seeing so many decades of films past the silent era that have legitimately scared the shit out of me this movie was just funny. There's literally a five minute scene of him running through the town carrying his own coffin and that paired with how fast the film actually runs in silent movies just made everything so silly. I loved it. -

Yeah I saw that low star rating on Netflix and knew I was in for a disaster and I was right. I wanted to watch it to knock out another film for my 52 Films by Women challenge as well but ooo howdy it was rough. I completely agree with you that I appreciated the thought behind it but it would have been so much better if maybe even that main girl who was Natasha Lyonne's daughter in the movie hadn't participated in laughing and poking fun at the others. Also the whole thing with the graphics emulating the stuff on their phone didn't translate until they had to spell it out for the audience in the very last scene. I thought the adult cast was so good and so underused that I wondered if maybe they were all friends with the director and wanted to help her with a passion project. I mean Natasha Lyonne, Taryn Manning, and Lydia Hearst are all in only one scene each with maybe an average of 3 lines. Boooooo! -

The only rewatches I usually do this time of year are Rocky Horror and Hocus Pocus. Everything else I try to watch new. Haven't had as much time this month to knock out as many horror movies as I wanted but I did watch these this month: The Girl on the Train, The Sisterhood of Night, #Horror, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, It Follows, Hamilton's America, Carrie (also a rewatch). Which one of these is so not like the others? -
Is this considered the Halloween episode? Was this even considered a horror movie?

Okay no offense, but I'm not going to read most of this cause you started pointing out the differences and I just said I didn't care to have all of that sitting in my brain.

OH MY GOD HOW DID I FORGET THAT! Best moment in the history of that whole show!

I think your easy option is my main option due to comic things I've heard. I've chosen not to read the comics until the show is completed because I really want to enjoy the show without all the knowledge already sitting in my brain, which is hard to stay away from considering the internet, but if they don't go that route to keep things different I do have another opinion on who it could be. I didn't hear about more than one death in that specific scene but I did hear about more than one death in the episode itself. No matter what I'm going to be a sobbing mess I can already feel it.

I think he's hinting that it's in The Walking Dead but now I'm trying to remember who the hell in season 6 almost got their dick bit off... Also I digress but I am never going to be emotionally prepared for that premiere on Sunday.

I just realized that I had always confused the story of how he wrote Dreamcatcher with Kingdom Hospital even though he just adapted the latter for TV. So every time I saw this joke I was thinking Kingdom Hospital lol. Whoops. Although it isn't as bad of a stretch as I thought after looking up the plot again cause one of the main characters does get admitted to the hospital after a severe road accident.

I think that his point, and mine, is that the movie doesn't set it up this way. I don't get the sense that these guys are just having a difficult time fitting in. When you have 4 incredibly good looking white dudes who have supernatural powers and they still act like dicks, it's hard to get that feeling like you're supposed to feel bad for them.

I have a ton of questions about this movie. I feel like I should start this off with I've only seen this movie once and I was super stoned while watching it and this was like 4 years ago and I've never seen it again. The whole time my friends and I were looking at each other like, "Is this the weed or is this movie terribly ridiculous?" So I'm glad to hear the movie was just terribly ridiculous. Also that was really good weed. Anyway, my understanding of this whole plot is that Duddits chose those four guys because they were like really amazing dudes who stood up to bullies and protected those in need like a mentally handicapped kid. But it really sounds that may not even be the case because they all turned out to be the biggest d-bags around. Or is that why? Like I'm genuinely confused why Duddits started to basically brand these four douchebags to be the saviors of this world. So if that is the case and they were really awesome guys as kids, why did they turn into the worst people? Why do they show Thomas Jane as a horrible therapist who makes fun of his patients? Or Timothy Olyphant as a mega creep that uses his powers to hit on women? Or Jason Lee becomes a drug addict/alcoholic? How come these fuckers get these awesome powers and are friends with Duddits and save the world? Nothing about them is likable and therefore I truly don't give a shit about any of them soooo what's the point? Aren't the heroes supposed to be the ones you cheer for? Y'all I just have so many questions.

I re-listened to the Drive Angry episode today as well, and holy shit this podcast has simultaneously changed and not changed so much. Remember way back when they tried to keep the episodes to only ~35 minutes!? I think about how they stuffed the entire plots of Season of the Witch, Drive Angry, and fuckin' Last Airbender into only that amount of time plus the little side discussions they would have (like June's Life Lessons! I miss that!), and it blows my mind that now they still can't even fit every crazy ass thing from these movies into ~90 minutes. This post is basically pointless, but just calling out that I'm so incredibly happy that the gang has stuck with this spectacular podcast for 6 years now!

I got a twitter notification earlier that said, "Lin-Manuel Miranda, Chelsea Peretti, and 5 others just liked Stephen King's tweet," and my first thought was, "OH MY GOD PLEASE TELL ME HE LISTENED TO HOW DID THIS GET MADE" But no, he just praised Michelle Obama, which is also cool.

I think they just use glamouring in that context because that's how True Blood used it, and I'm pretty sure Jason has admitted he's watched True Blood lol. All of the different vampire lore using the same terms for different meanings is frustrating as all fuck. -
