I would've even taken a phone call over that shit tbh. Also, he said he closed the bank account. Does this mean that he is cutting her off? So she's just left penniless cause clearly we all know she really couldn't get a job except the camp in Ohio so this motherfucker just writes her a letter saying oh I'm leaving and btw you have no money. I hope she gets some sweet sweet alimony. -

I still stand by my statement that Jeremy Jordan has zero charm. (Sorry Sara) I already forgot the lyrics to his song as he was writing, so what did the letter say? -

That last song though was Jamie at the end and Cathy at the beginning so it doesn't actually align with how Cathy was also feeling. I think obviously she was blind sided by the whole endeavor but we don't see the Cathy that is at that same spot as Jamie is in the timeline so it throws everything off. In fact I took that part to be like Jamie was singing goodbye to the Cathy he had actually fallen in love with because that was the woman he had been missing, but this memory of her then wasn't going to change his mind about staying because she wasn't that woman anymore. This movie was made in 2014 (15?) so I kinda disagree with you that it was a product of its time. The play sure because it was made in the early 2000s and supposedly starts this romance in the 90s, but this movie could've adjusted things for creative license about the times to really play that this was a true romance that fell apart for no other reason than they just weren't a good match, but they didn't. And I think if I had even seen this 5 years ago I would've felt the same way about Jamie because after everything he still is the one who cheats on her with MULTIPLE women and yells constantly at Cathy for not being what he wants her to be, and that shit didn't fly with me even back then. I might have excused the party fight because still part of me is like idk it's just a party so like who really cares, but then the other part of me is like no she's just supposed to go and watch him be fawned over by people who can't even be bothered to remember his wife's name so she's stuck alone at the bar where she recognizes she drinks too much for the wrong reasons. Fuck that let her stay home! -

He didn't even stay for that one performance in Ohio! During that song she was singing about how she thinks he'll like the show and that he's laughing and she's smiling so they'll be okay because he went there for her, but then he says oh actually I can't stay tonight and she's like YOU MOTHERFUCKER. I completely agree that I think regardless of success he is not a good dude. Resisting Temptation didn't seem to be about how all the women noticed him now that he was successful, it was about how all the women noticed him now that he was married. So it was like once that wedding happened for him he was like oh gdi what did I do. -

I do wish they had shown more of her being terrible or something to make us not think that it's all on Jamie, which at the point this movie ends - it's totally all on Jamie. Because even before he cheats on her the things that he claims are wrong about her (not giving him enough space, not going to his parties) are all just surface level and absolutely his problems. I can't pin point a single thing that Cathy does to warrant such bitterness from him and that's really frustrating. -

I didn't hate Jamie right off the bat either, but I thought he was a gd weirdo cause he kept bringing up his mom while in the throws of passion lol. -

Damn y'all went to two pages quick. This movie was kinda a mess for me. I loved parts of it, mainly Anna's songs, and then hated everything else. Jaime was the worst and Jeremy wasn't charming enough in the least to make up for his terribleness. And it's so obvious that the movie wants us to go into it thinking this was a two way street cause the tag line is literally, "There are two sides to every love story." That's such bull shit because Anna does nothing wrong this whole movie and like it's her jealousy and bitterness that he gets super successful that causes her to push his dumbass away? Nah, fam. That's lame. I was hella confused by the timeline until it got pointed out to me what it was supposed to be and then it made sense, but like unless people go in knowing that it's not well set out and that middle part, that according to CakeBug is supposed to be the most heartbreaking climax of this story, turns into a puddle of confusion. I honestly hope Cathy moves on and finds someone that actually deserves her soon after this ends cause she was so much better than Jaime. -
Musical Mondays Week 57 Preview (Taylor Anne’s 4th Pick)

Donde está el conejo? -
No, I heard that was the shit's team himself so that's why he got to put his side of it on the Hulu one, but I'm thinking the team at FuckJerry wanted to distance themselves from him as much as possible so they made their version and it's really really damning of him. Although I would say rightfully so. But at the end they literally have the director of that big promotional video that first came out saying, "You wouldn't put the blame of a faulty BMW engine on the guys that made the commercial," so they are really going hard on the "not our fault!" lol.

Every single one has a bias towards it no matter what that's for sure. That being said the new FYRE doc on Netflix was pretty amazing despite the marketing team that marketed the shit out of the fest being behind it.

I completely understand you're argument. I just think it's dismissive and literally the problem as to why these movies don't get taken seriously lol.

Musical Mondays Week 57 Preview (Taylor Anne’s 4th Pick)

This is my actual dream. -
Then you don't understand why I said it. I said that because it's absolutely something that would be nominated but it gets tossed aside because the superhero aspect makes it "sillier," and I think that's damaging and absolutely incorrect.
-
See, this is why I mentioned Winter Soldier, because I definitely don't think that BP should've been the first one to be recognized on this level. I still think it does deserve it, but to me Winter Soldier should've been the one to open many more doors for the comic book movie in this era because I genuinely thought it was the best of that year. Simply because if you take out all of the Captain America aspect to it and look at the core of it, it's a great great political thriller with a great great believable villain. Even Logan should've been nominated before this. Dark Knight should've been nominated before this.
-
Lots of these I haven't seen but Sorry to Bother You, Leave No Trace, and Skate Kitchen are absolutely in my top ten as well. Like first of all there are two blank slates for movies to get added because they only nominated 8, so we could add two in that were left out, but I'm still staying on my hill that Black Panther absolutely deserved to be nominated alongside all of those lol. But I also didn't see Bohemian Rhapsody (on principle) nor Vice, nor BlackkKlansman, nor The Favourite, nor Green Book, and to me a lot of that has to do with availability near me vs price of the theaters they did show at and I think that itself is kinda an issue. Although according to one of my best friend's she is pissed that Vice is getting any love cause she hated it and even though she liked Green Book she didn't think it was Best Picture worthy at all.
-
I just would argue against things like Vice and Bohemian Rhapsody before I would remove Black Panther.
-
BP was definitely in my top 10 of the year but my goodness I had so many completely ignored movies in there as well. I'm mostly angry about the lack of love for Hereditary, and more importantly, Toni Fuckin' Collette.

I haven't seen RBG yet but you're actually the first person I've ever seen say even anything remotely negative about it so idk about that. Also have to disagree with you about it not being that much different than half of the MCU. I wish it wasn't the first to be nominated though, but I still would have nominated it. I think Winter Soldier is actually the perfect MCU film and that should have been recognized as a brilliant political thriller but it took the cultural landscape that was Black Panther for them to start taking these movies seriously. Actually, Logan's nom last year for best screenplay might have even opened the door for this.
