I have to add, as a wild ghost enthusiast, that the inconsistencies is actually really appropriate and most life like. Not every apparition will have the same amount of energy and will be able to communicate the same, even to someone that is considered a medium. Apparitions can make themselves known by temperature change, voice, moving objects, shadow people, or even full bodied apparitions. Now this all comes down to whether or not you really believe in this, but let's argue that you do because I know I do and once I could swear I smelled my grandmother's perfume as I walked down the hallway of a house she had never been to before she died. A friend of mine has always claimed that she is more sensitive to these things and has seen multiple full bodied apparitions, and sometimes just feels the presence rather than sees it. Once she told me she felt someone sit on her bed and lie down next to her but when she looked there was no one there. So in my opinion Cole's difference in who can communicate with him and how is rather life like based on other's irl that claim to see things themselves. Basically I think that there aren't any established rules in the movie because there aren't any in real life either.

This all just reminds me of this hilarious video Jonah Ray made when it was discovered that La La Land actually lost to Moonlight

That makes sense. I had forgotten that she had said that so that does put another question mark on top of it. Maybe, in the same vein as what I mentioned, Chazelle tried to really pass it off as this super original concept? When again Mamma Mia really leans in to what it is?

Quasar knows the way to my heart by mentioning Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, which is definitely above Singin' in the Rain for me and I really love SitR. Also I wonder if the Mamma Mia vs La La Land thing is more because Mamma Mia knows exactly what it is and never tries to be anything different. That's why I think it does better than something like Across the Universe, which I still love, because it's not once got even an ounce of pretentious nature in it. They came to have fun and sing ABBA and they don't shy away from it. But with La La Land you can tell that while Chazelle was trying to do this modern homage to Hollywood of the past, there is a lot that could be perceived as pretentious, and I hear a lot more people from LA don't like it as much as those of us from anywhere else.

No they started the "Hook 'em [Enter mascot here]" phrase but not the symbol of the longhorns because they weren't longhorns. -

Not to shit on the heavy metal fans but the University of Texas has been using that symbol to represent "Hook Em Horns" since the 1950s. -

I personally just love these kind of movies so I go in probably with a much lower bar than most people would because a good ol fashion musical like this just wins me over so fast (I did give Mamma Mia 2 a 4.5 rating after all lol) And the only thing I think is actually wrong with it is the length of the Melody. Nothing else should be touched or considered bad in my opinion. But I think that even recognizing that Gene may have been a dick and the Melody may be too long and whatever have you, this movie makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside, and no matter how bad a movie may be considered (looking at you Across the Universe) if it still makes me happier than I was before I watched it then I'm gonna give it that full star rating. Also, I'll add that before listening to today's episode there was a lot of stuff I didn't know about. I had no idea the songs came before the story.

I think it's hard to be the one man out in any direction tbh. It was honestly difficult for me to be the one person that loves Titanic still in a sea of people being like nope lol.

The preview completely ruins the surprise but seeing the transition from Singin In The Rain to Umbrella is absolutely worth the watch.

I couldn't agree more. To me, it feels like it goes on for so long that you've just watched an entirely new movie, which you pretty much do, but it's not like the tl'dr version it's the actual movie. It also kinda bugs me that it suddenly becomes modern 1950s looking. To me, that would be like if The Nice Guys, set in 1970s LA, suddenly had a 2017 dream sequence, which would completely kill the vibe for me. I absolutely LOVE it on it's own merit, because it's a gorgeous sequence and displays so many amazing things at once, but I'm not entirely convinced it belongs in this specific movie. That being said, I have no idea what they could've done any differently.

I don't want to actually kill Donald. I've just had such a situation for Gene Kelly for decades now.
-
Fuck - Debbie Reynolds Marry - Gene Kelly Kill - Donald O'Conner (also because he's the only one left sorry lol)

I honestly can't wait to read it! Michiel and Lily did such a fantastic job that I'm genuinely like "I need more of Juliet and Dawsey wtf." Do you know if that series can be found online anywhere? Like Sara I discovered him from Orphan Black so before that my knowledge is slim to none. -

There's absolutely no requirement to watch or participate every week in order to join our rotation. I certainly haven't been able to make it through every week but you bet I'm gonna make everyone else watch Josie and The Pussycats lol! But that's still totally fair and your decision so if you ever change your mind let us know! -

Is HDTGM just doing live episodes now?
taylor anne photo replied to Thrillhouse88's topic in How Did This Get Made?
Yeah, all of them are performers first and foremost. When they started this podcast it was just for the three of them (and the guest), but now they're so popular that they are really performing for all of us. Of course they wouldn't be doing it if they didn't still want to do it for themselves but now that they can sell out shows in 5 minutes why not continue to do sold out shows? -

Lol! I recognize that was a rush job, and that it looked better during his Incinerator, BUT it still actually takes time to even rush through something and that was a lot of eyeshadow there, my love.
