I wanna poll everyone on how they feel about Gus and Lorelei's relationship. Cause sure, I'm sure that Lorelei really does love him, that's not the issue I have, but I do have an issue with how little he trusts her! If there is such little trust on whether she's gonna cheat or not then this fuckin marriage is not going to last. I love the ending speech she gives his father cause she's like "please stop acting like he's not marrying me for my looks" but this whole movie is based on his distrust of her as a person, and that just gives me a sour taste in my mouth.

What I think saves this little disservice is that Lorelei mentions a lot how easily Dorothy falls in love with any dude that's tall, dark, and handsome.

The downside to this movie is that a lot of things don't get their full proper scenes but rather exposition in lines in a different scene. So you don't really get to see Gus asking Dorothy to go in his place she's just suddenly there and he reminds her that she's only there to watch Lorelei's behavior. The same things happen with Dorothy and Malone's relationship because you actually only see them interact together twice and one of those times Dorothy explains what he said to her the night before to charm her so much. It's really a disservice to the plot cause I would have actually loved to watch Dorothy fully fall for this dude and vice versa played out before us. But it's already a pretty long movie so they probably had to make those hard cuts when filming.

They weren't actually going there to work and that all happened after Gus cut them off financially. So they had to find jobs in order to get money and housing. Before that they solely relied on his line of credit to provide them with everything they needed.

They even mentioned that 4 dudes were the rowing team, right??? WHAT IS THE TRUTH

I am inclined to agree with you based on songs alone but I think the fact that Jane sings "Is Anyone Here For Love?" surrounded by the Olympians made that whole thing iconic.

Shit I didn't know that either! But the dubbing is really well done cause the way she forms her lips is exactly how you would need to do it in order to get those vowels out in that high of a tone. I did find out that Jane was dubbed in both of the duets with Marilyn which made me REALLY sad because I had always marveled at how amazing it was that their voices blended together so nicely! "When Love Goes Wrong" is genuinely one of the top numbers in this and I think those harmonies are just stellar!

For sure because apparently in the book he is a man trying to win her affections during the whole trip. What I loved about that little plot line though was that she wasn't trying to cheat on Gus by looking up a rich bachelor or anything, she genuinely just wanted to set her best friend up with someone that could provide a nice lifestyle.

I have to admit the way the kid delivered that line had me genuinely laughing though lol. Like when he told Dorothy he was old enough to appreciate a beautiful woman lol.

My love for Marilyn aside I genuinely think this moment is the greatest gift to cinema and people everywhere.

I know people who do that with their SO in this year of 2017 and it definitely wigs me out. Like I had a discussion about why I disliked it and my friend was like, "I don't see it any differently than someone saying 'babe' or 'baby,'" and I was like noooo it's so different ahhhhh grossss.

I think I may have an answer for this. So this was originally a book written in 1925 and the whole book is narrated through Lorelei's eyes. I read online that it's complete with any spelling and grammatical errors that the character would actually make and that delights me. So I believe that since we get more of Dorothy in this movie then the title becomes more confusing. Also it was first made into a Broadway musical in 1949 starring Carol Channing, and they never ONCE considered her to adapt the role for the film. The role of Lorelei was first offered to Betty Grable but since Marilyn was extremely desirable and 10 year younger they cast her instead, planning on keeping Betty and casting her as Dorothy, but the studio decided that two blondes would be competing and "borrowed" Jane Russel from a different studio and cast her in the role. AKA the best decision they could have ever made.

Yahoo posted this article after Ghostbusters came out last summer and it perfectly highlights why I think Chris Hemsworth is fucking brilliant in that role. Also it's so insulting to everyone who went through Sandy & Katrina when they say this is a "once in a lifetime" storm. (100,000 people who evacuated from New Orleans to Houston stayed so I can't even imagine what they're going through.)
