I have to admit I haven't seen the 07 Hairspray in quite a while. Maybe I should give it another try.

Oh no I think Hairspray is considered good and popular! I just happen to have seen it after the original and that was probably a mistake because the original is soooo good! According to Wikipedia the 88 version is a musical though lol. Part of these discussions have to be how things stack up to the original, right?

I looooove the 80s John Waters film so I am with you in that Travolta just brings up all of the rage. I don't know that I'll revisit this film because there are only a few parts that make it worthwhile (Queen Latifah and Michelle Pfeiffer being big plusses) but I would love to go into why the casting of Edna Turnblad shows a spotlight on why Hollywood doesn't understand Divine, John Waters, or the transgender, cross-dressing, and drag queen communities.

Well I hope Jason takes the AV Club naming him one of the best acting performances on TV for 2016 as a good award!

I don't think the movie is going to be as bad as people are saying it is, but my discomfort sitting through those parts outweighs my love for both of those actors and any kind of redemption the movie can have for itself.

It's one of those movies where the more I think about it the stupider it becomes. Here's what I do like about it - Will Smith, Margot Robbie, Viola Davis, and Jai Cortney. That's it. I should re-arrange my order cause I think I actually liked BvS more.

Do the Spider-Mans count? There was only 10 years between the first Tobey Maguire film and the first Andrew Garfield film. 5 if we go from Spider-Man 3 to The Amazing Spider-Man. Also +1 on Eli Roth being the Literal Worst.

I don't know if this is a straight recommendation, but Nocturnal Animals fucked me up in the best way possible. Speaking about an artist's struggle with creativity, not wanting to sell themselves out and just do something for the money, and then that ultimate realization that we are just like our mothers. Shit that fucked me up. It's weird, and disturbing at times, and the whole movie starts out with imagery that'll make most of this country very uncomfortable but I understand why Tom Ford did it. It's very rare that I can sit in a theater and just say, "I fucking get all of this!!!" So yeah it's amazing but I know it's one of those movies that people are either really going to love or really going to hate. View at your own risk and don't blame me if you hate it. Oh also for a "fuck this movie" corner... Fuuuck Passengers. I haven't even seen it yet, but I was incredibly excited to finally watch it. Not anymore! I saw an article about why people are hating it so I read it, and holy shit fuck this movie.

Knowing it's fake makes those hands clapping and cheering at the end that much more hilarious lol

To celebrate the 30th anniversary of Little Shop of Horrors the staff at IMDB picked their favorite movie musicals! I hope it's not a ranked list because #5 throws me off.
