This film was directed by Vincent Perez, whose acting resume has at least two (possibly three films) that would be ripe for HDTGM; Queen of the Damned, the Crow: City of Angels, and I Dreamed of Africa (this is the possible one as I literally don't remember anything about this except the title and it was Kim Basinger's first film after winning an Oscar).

Jodie Foster and Lindsey Lohan and Fred Savage and Charlie Schlatter and Steve Martin and Lily Tomlin and Rachel McAdams and Rob Schnider and...I could go on and on and on.
ÂI want to see the Body Swap survivor support group film.
I have to C&O your post real quick because that Freaky Friday is iconic for my generation and it was most definitely Jamie Lee Curtis.

My dad died while in high school and about 3-4 months later (I went through a big haze the semester following and can't keep track of what happened when) I was really depressed and a friend asked what was wrong and I obviously replied, "I'm just really sad about my dad," and she said, "Hasn't it been long enough?" (I now can't even remember the exact quote but I definitely remember thinking "she's right I should shut up about it." IT WAS ONLY 3-4 MONTHS LATER.)
Your son has way better friends lol.

I agree with you up to a point. I did see Spotlight first and this absolutely had me wanting to rewatch it, because I could see the influence this movie had on those creators, however I would think that they both could stand the test of time and live on the AFI in harmony with one another. I know that we have obvious limited space, but if we can have a million Scorsese or Spielberg films, then I think having both All The President's Men and Spotlight can be possible.

I would love for Cam to read this book only now and see how he feels.

My mom told me she caught it on TCM recently and said she fell asleep at some point cause she was too bored.

My theater laughed a lot! I laughed at that line too! There were a couple of points where people even laughed (like when Elizabeth Moss's tether was reacting to seeing her husband die) that I actually was like lord this isn't funny to me cause it's like making me really uncomfortable.
But I think the biggest laughs were for Tim because his slapstick was really on point and that NWA drop when Elizabeth tried to ask Alexa to call the police. I was totally expecting The Police to then play but NWA's "Fuck The Police" was even better and our theater lost it.

Well shit looks like Disney+ is listening to us at least a bit!

Aside from the class themes, I think the movie is also about faith and free will. Are we really in control of the decisions we make? Do we make a choice between good and evil? or is that just the situation t hat is thrust upon us. If the tethered can learn to be like regular people in society, then we, too (as Red did) can be turned evil, embittered, and revengeful if put in the right circumstances.Â
Man, I could've sworn she just said they were created by "someone" so it was like an understood thing in this world whoever that "someone" was was supposed to be The Creator or whatever. Almost like all of Earth was supposed to be this experiment from the point of creation, and it automatically didn't work but wasn't fully abandoned.
Guess I just need to see it again

5 minutes ago, EvRobert said:Matt Fraction's run was so good. I heard about Sex Criminals on the I Sell Comics podcast and then sought out Fractions run after reading it. Just a great book that should have been the tie in to the Netflix world and the MCU
I was the opposite! I came to Sex Criminals via my love for his Hawkeye run! Also I have to thank him for then introducing me to his wife Kelly Sue DeConnick who wrote Captain Marvel's run at the same time which is what made me fall in love with her and was the big basis for this movie! You can even see Kelly Sue in the subway scene when Carol gets off the train and walks by a lot of people that are like, "Uhhh," and there's this woman with a flash of bright cherry red hair and I remember thinking, "Goodness that looks like Kelly Su- HOLY SHIT THAT'S KELLY SUE!"

I'm not gonna lie.... all of my memory except for that final scene at sunrise is in b&w but that can't be possible if I remember her green dress and those red and oranges at the end...

Just now, tomspanks said:Was everyone's '37 version on Amazon Prime a colorized version? It looked weird to me, like the worst Snapchat filter ever. I wish I had seen the b&w version instead.
Oh I thought it was always in color. My Amazon trivia said that it was the very first color movie to be nominated for Best Picture.

20 minutes ago, EvRobert said:Wasn't that when Ike Permulter was being cheap with the pocketbook? I remember Mickey Rourke, coming off of The Wrestler, being offered scale and Terrance Howard wanting more money so they replaced him.
Not to excuse that behavior or the lack of a BW movie. Personally I would have put it after The Avengers as part of Phase 3 or whatever, people really wanted that Black Widow movie that explained the relationship between her and Clint. That was a Marvel "misstep" (in that they were focused on their plans and phases and, in my opinion, not listening to the fans and what they wanted).I can't comment on the details tbh, but I do remember them being like lol no Terrence Howard.
A post-Avengers prequel movie set in Budapest with Black Widow and Hawkeye would have literally been the PERFECT opportunity to set those two characters up for something solo down the line, and with the amount of fanfic I read about said setting I am deep into the Clintasha ship hole lmao.
Also, doing that could have possibly set up an amazing Matt Fraction written Netflix mini-series about Clint recovering from the brainwashing in his apartment in Brooklyn and then having to fight the Russian mafia because he's a good person at heart that refuses to see them fuck over everyone that lives in his building. (Can you tell I'm ignoring that dumb family Whedon pointlessly threw in lol.)
-
Oh also true story: I got THIS FUCKING CLOSE to having Bradley Cooper sign my Guardians of the Galaxy poster because I snuck into the American Sniper premiere (it was held here because the real family is from here) and he fuckin stopped right at the girl beside me and then left and I was like "Bradley!" and he turned around and said sorry that he really had to go and I swear y'all those eyes struck me right in the soul that's how blue they actually are.

14 hours ago, Cameron H. said:My vibe, not necessarily in terms of music style or personality, was he was, like, Eddie Vedder levels of famous. Pretty big and respected, but of the old guard. The thing is, I know of Eddie Vedder. If you showed me a picture of Eddie Vedder with Pearl Jam, Iâd be like, âThatâs the guy.â But if Eddie Vedder walked up to me on the street, I wouldnât have a clue who he was. Iâm certain some people would, but not at the âOMG youâre Jackson Maine!â level depicted in the movie.
I think there are very few musicians most people would know on sight. I donât see Jackson Maine having the crossover appeal to become a household name/face.
I think it depends on the people doing the spotting to be honest. Also I'm a terrible person to have this conversation with because my college roommate and her now husband would call me the IMDB robot when we would watch movies together because I can recognize everyone and tell you what it is I recognize them from. Then last night I went to my mom's to watch the NCAA final (so mad) and I heard a story I had never heard before where I found out that my dad recognized Victor Wong in a restaurant here in Dallas out of nowhere and he was so delighted by it that they got to sit down with him and have a really lovely conversation. Apparently it's a genetic thing that has now caused me to be able to spot anyone. I've also once spotted our very own Paul Scheer on the streets of Austin just as I happened to walk by him once in 2010, and that was before this podcast!
Point being, I could probably spot Eddie Vedder in a bar and I would probably be that person to pick out Jackson Maine as well lmao.

I can buy it when the first guy says it right before sacrificing himself into the ocean, but a couple of the others just do it because they're horny and it's cheesy.
(Unsure when Bradley says it.)
The first dude says it after their first night together tho too. This isn't something the remakes invented lol.
