  1. We need one for Christmas 2015! Leykis is still my favorite episode, I must have listened to that 4 or 5 times, but Santa and Ho-Ho are the ones who definitely need more episodes. I could listen to hours of this shit. My favorite things in no particular order: Santa defending children, Santa getting philosophical about his place in the universe, Ho-Ho's gossip segment and of course the call-ins. I'm still not sure if there's sexual tension between Santa and Ho-Ho but it seemed like Lapkus was trying to create it... Blow-blow! I know there's more I'm just not thinking of right now, so I'll definitely be going for another listen sometime soon.
  2. I decided to check Earwolf before I fall asleep, and sure enough I find this... The episode hasn't even been posted yet, but reading this made me feel a decent amount of Christmas joy. I've only been this excited after reading a description for an episode a few times in my entire career as a podcast listener. My full review is forthcoming.

  4. The first movie is one of my favorite childhood movies without a doubt, and that love definitely carried over to the sequel. It was kinda bittersweet revisiting TMNT 2 as an adult for the first time because I noticed so many problems and it really ruined the nostalgia for me. On the other hand, it was a very interesting experience, definitely augmented by the podcast, and I'm actually hoping for many more episodes like this (where it's a movie I loved as a kid). I'm now wondering if Ghostbusters 2 and Back to the Future 2 have withstood the test of time, because I know those movies have their fair share of haters. I even enjoyed the sequels to Aladdin and Neverending Story, although in both cases I only liked the 2nd ones and the 3rd ones really sucked. I'm seeing a pattern here: TMNT, BttF, Aladdin and Neverending Story all had really, really shitty 3rd movies, although I'm sure an argument can be made that the 2nd ones were horrible too. I have some weird, pointless thinking to do while I go over some of my other childhood favorites... Also, since they predicted the forums would be lit up with comments about Pally's Asian accent: it was one of my favorite parts of the whole episode, especially when he brought his son into the running joke (also bonus points for the 9/11 jokes). People are offended way too fucking easily these days, like the uproar and outrage about the pachycephalosaurus shortened to "pachy" in Jurassic World, or feminists demanding that people snap their fingers instead of clapping because clapping can trigger anxiety. Must be my white male heteronormative cisgender privilege talking.

    EPISODE 357 — Modern Anti-Comedy

  7. This is unrelated to the podcast, and I may be biased because of my Earwolf love, but LL was by far one of the best parts of Jurassic World. Considering the movie didn't "wow" me very much, I can only assume the box office numbers are exclusively because of Lauren's character. The fans demand a sequel (or prequel) starring her and Jake Johnson.

    EPISODE 356 — Heynong Man

There are many parts of this episode that I really enjoyed, but this is the one I came here to comment on. There was something about their combined incredulity that really made me laugh, shutting down so many Classic Scott Moments before they even had a chance to simmer and/or stew. Mantzoukas is a great co-host and truly would make a great successor to Scott in the event of his untimely death, which is apparently pretty soon, as long as the J-Man agrees to play along with every bit and jump on every single possible pun. He seems to share a similar good memory and sensibility with Scott, he just chooses the dark side (or maybe he's the good guy?) when it comes to each potential moment for a joke.

Episode 62 — Serious or Sarcastic?

I know a place where no one's lost, I know a place where no one cries, Crying at all is not allowed, Not in my castle on a cloud.
  11. I didn't even think of that, but I'm right there with you. I love Dune, the novels and the movie (and miniseries), so I agree with you 100%. That would be one of the best things ever.

    EPISODE 112 — Jupiter Ascending

I knew this was a great HDTGM movie from the moment I saw it, actually I had the thought before even watching it. Sci-fi is by far my favorite genre, and this movie almost made me want to reconsider.
  13. My disappointment that this wasn't a Victor & Tiny episode dissolved pretty quickly once it got going. Brendon Small and LL are a great team! I still have high hopes for a future Victor & Tiny appearance. Also a conspiracy podcast starring a certain former governor would be a dream come true...

    Episode BO2013.1 — Best of 2013 Pt 1

A clammy apprehension seizes me as I relisten to another Best-Ofs episode; am I truly controlling anything? In the dark, through the wall, I hear a cry and the unmistakable sound of the breaking of a human toe.

    EPISODE 355 — Kid Detectives

I'm a bit disappointed that Vivian (Lauren's character from Jurassic World) isn't the first raptor who learns how to talk, and then develops a taboo dinosaur + man relationship with Chris Pratt. I'm sure the movie will still be OK, I guess. Great episode though, I can't believe it's LL's first time! The chemistry between her and Middleditch was amazing both in and out of character. I had this exact same thought after listening to the 6th anniversary show!
