Lauren Lapkus is in Jurassic World and I want to talk about it

Owen and Vivian (?) share a quick moment as they enter the restricted zone. Will their forbidden love find a way to thrive beyond the confines of the park walls?

    Episode 98.5 — Minisode 98.5

Paul really made me laugh during this minisode, but when he said "funny money" I could only think of one thing: https://www.youtube....h?v=fGCmAM6Oafc

I hope as more info is available it's posted in this forum. I still think there's a good chance that she's the voice of a raptor named Vivian.

Episode 324 — Golden Duchess Cruise Lines

@ Sly and Duck, I love when anybody dives in and doesn't even think about how deep they're swimming. Some first-timers epitomize this. Alex Borstein, Tears for Fears, Natasha Lyonne and Dane Cook are all great examples of recent first-timers, although Dane Cook is a little too WTF with Marc Maron until Neil Campbell's character arrives. Completely off-topic, but Chris Kattan was a bit too WTF on the Hooray Show too, or maybe it's just a bit, I don't know.

Episode 324 — Golden Duchess Cruise Lines

I had no idea that Stephanie Allynne was dating Tig, but that is genuinely surprising! when I just read that, I had a mind-blown moment. I know it sounds so stupid, but one of the only reasons I'd like to live in the LA area is to see a bunch of these shows... I look at the tickets for Largo and I curse my existence, but I'll make it there someday soon... Also, a little bit off-topic but still in the wheelhouse, how the fuck do people even get tickets to Thrilling Adventure Hour? Does it usually require murder?

Episode 324 — Golden Duchess Cruise Lines

Sorry for the double post, but yeah... As a heterosexual male, I have to say, I do find Lauren very cute (on many more levels than her physical appearance) but I think I've commented more on Paul F. Tompkins' appearance than anyone else's. The man is dapper and handsome, a great sense of style, and he eye-fucks the camera whenever it's in the studio. I just don't think there's anything wrong with commenting on physical appearance. You know who else I think is really cute? Alex Borstein. Her voice, her face, her style; it just gets me in a certain way, in much the same way that PFT does. They are charming, they have a certain aura about them that invites affection. If you think I somehow objectify or belittle Borstein because of that, you are dead wrong. I recognize the disparities between males and females and I try to do my bit in fighting them too, but do you think I'm going to allow that affect the way I feel about a female comedian? If a comedian is "cute" or "sexy" or anything, does that have to affect how much I respect their talent and their comedy? Somebody already said, very succinctly, that talent (and of course respect) and attractiveness are not at all mutually exclusive. I may not know what I'm talking about at all, but if anything I'd say the people who freak out about calling Lauren cute are the ones who are sexist. Why don't we all just live in reality, speak from our hearts, and see where that gets us? Honesty is the best policy, and in all honesty, Lauren (her face, her voice, her comedy, her style) is CUTE. I am of course using the definition that she is pleasing, delightful, keen, clever and pretty. If that's sexist and that's the kind of thing somebody could get warned or banned for, then ban me right now. That's fucking bullshit. Lauren is cute. PFT is cute. Scott is cute as fuck. What's the problem? Please don't say that it's because there are more comments about female guests/hosts than male guests/hosts, because you're barking up a statistical tree. If these forums were populated by a majority of heterosexual females, then the comments would be different. As someone who wakes up to multiple posts of ripped male bodies and "happy ____day" posts from females on Facebook, I can tell you, it's a matter of social circles and not some kind of dark patriarchal cloud looming over society, although I know that shit exists too. Let's just try to keep it a bit lighter in these comedy podcast forums, because after all, these are comedy podcast forums. TL;DR: You are not a horrible person, nor a brainless misogynist, for thinking Lauren Lapkus is cute. PFT is cute too.

Episode 324 — Golden Duchess Cruise Lines

I finished the episode since my last post, and this is another one for the record books. 2015 is off to an insane start! The Tears for Fears episode was one of my favorites of all-time, and this one was all around great too. I honestly can't believe that somebody made a forum topic about how Scott has been unfunny lately, because I think it's the exact opposite: Scott just seems more on his game than ever. I think he's leaning more into the love it or hate it kind of character, but I could be wrong... I just feel like if you love his shtick, he's delivering more than ever, and if you don't like that kind of thing, then (taking a note from Scott on how he treats new listeners who don't like his intros): go fuck yourself. Has anyone from LA seen Wild Horses live, and if so, can you tell us about your experience? They seem like an improv group that would be amazing to see. The only thing I've seen of Stephanie Allynne away from Earwolf was her role in that amazing UCB Master Class thing on YouTube, but she strikes me as insanely funny and genuine, in much the same way that Lauren does. I think all four of them are amazing, but those two just kill me. I'm too lazy to grab a link right now, which says alot about how pathetic I am because it's just a few clicks, but I really recommend watching the UCB Master Class stuff. Matt Besser is so perfect playing a version of himself as a teacher, I'm surprised videos like these aren't more of a thing. Paul Rust is also one of the best parts of those videos, his "character" is so fucking amazing, really worth watching for any Earwolf fan. Back to this episode: rambling insanity may sound like it has negative connotations, but I don't mean it that way at all. This episode became rambling insanity, "heavy saturation" I guess is what Scott and others call it, but it was right in the zone that I like my CBB to be in. Definitely a C+, and also I don't know if any of the Cody stuff is a bit (I doubt it is at all), but man it's so funny. Brett, and now Cody, have really become a part of why I love Earwolf podcasts.

So... We've come to a point now where a guy needs to apologize, and could get banned from the site, for calling a female guest cute? Thanks Obama. Great episode so far!

Cyber Monday Sale in the Earwolf Store!!!

Pretty sweet! I wish I could order some CBB pint glasses in time for Christmas, but I'll settle for an Earwolf shirt or two and the CBB 2014 Live bundle.

List of Scott's Frequently Repeated Phrases

"Oranges, The New Black." Although he was corrected by Natasha Lyonne, so now I know the actual title is "Oranges, The New Blacks." "First time listeners may be wondering..." (or some variation of that). I had another one but now I completely forget it... I caught it during YouTube Phenomahna so I'll have to go back and find it and then edit this in a few minutes. EDIT: It was "We'll get to you in a second..." but somebody already posted it here.

Episode 28 — The Hooray Show

Yeah, I don't know how sarcastic it was supposed to be in terms of playing off of old shtick, but I thought that bit was amazing. Legitimately funny, without any irony, although I'm sure it's done with quite a bit of irony... Which I guess makes it even better. This was a great podcast and I'll definitely listen to more, so hopefully Earwolf picks it up. It sounds like Horatio is set up to do it either way, so I'll listen to it either way too. If they can somehow make it a mix of real, surprisingly deep SNL (or other inside) stories, hilarious bits, and Horatio being himself in between, I will listen to every episode.

Episode 28 — The Hooray Show

It took me longer than I'd like to admit to get the title "Hooray Show" but I'll admit it anyways. This episode was 40 minutes well spent! I thought Horatio seemed pretty unhinged (in a great way) on his most recent CBB appearance, and now that I'm listening to this it gives me a very similar feeling. It's great that it can bounce around so much and I actually like the cuts between bits; it's a bit different from what I'm used to but the frenetic style actually really works for me.

Episode 323 — Pie Quiz with Tears for Fears

"ER at the end? What is this, NBC Thursday nights in the 90's?" This is a line I will never forget and one of my favorite things Scott has ever said. For the record, I would've definitely voted for this episode for the Best-Ofs. Tears for Fears is now my favorite musical guest, they didn't seem like first-timers at all and they were way funnier than I could have expected. Reggie was amazing and so was the Pie Minister, and it's funny because I'm definitely a cake guy myself, but Roland's point about pies allowing for meat is very true, and very English. This was an all-around great episode and as others mentioned, Reggie's performance at the end was insane. I give this episode 4.5 out of 5 meatpies, deducting 0.5 pies because I'm hungry and also because I was still hoping for Cake Boss to pop in, right up until the end. Any suggestions for characteristics that the Pie Minister should have in a cartoon version of that dastardly villain? All I have right now is "shifty eyes."

    Episode 322 — YouTube Phenomahna

Has anyone else ever been afflicted with treadwood? I know this serious medical condition all too well. Also, I agree that it was very difficult to vote for the best-ofs. After going down the list, I had 21 checked off. I had quite a few Sophie's Choices to make, although we know how derivative that film is of the great Der Kaukasische Kreidekreis, which itself comes from the 14th-century Chinese work 灰闌記, or Circle of Chalk.

Episode 92 — Eat Over There

Two heaters in a row. R&B are performing a B&E on my heart. A bit of a sidenote: Matt Besser, outside of the UCB community, is hugely underrated. He is brilliant and I recommend that anyone interested in comedy pick up the UCB manual, even if you don't plan to ever perform comedy. Maybe he's not underrated, just underused; I think he deserves a way bigger role, like maybe as an asssshole boss or cool dad, in some huge project. Make him the fucking mayor in the new all-female Ghostbusters, I don't know. I'm saying this as someone who, when my friend Andrew G showed me AssssCat, wondered "who the fuck is this guy?" Matt Besser is the kind of comedian who grows on you quickly, and once you're in that vortex you can't really go back. If Scott is the den mother of comedy, then Matt is the improv alpha male. Sorry to Asssskiss like this, but it's how I really feel. I'd love an opportunity to interview Matt Besser, not even on any recording... I'd just love to chat with the guy for a couple of hours. And typing this just gave me a quick thought: interviewing Ronna and Beverly would be comedy heaven for me. This is completely unrelated but I know Ronna and Beverly are in the same circles as these amazing comedians, so here's an interview with two ladies who really gave me some great insights into performing comedy:

Episode 231 — This Is Not Me, This Is Them

Re-listening tonight, still one of my favorite episodes of Comedy Dang Dick. There's just something about Paul and Jesse in this episode, and the way it all meshes with Kumail, that is just comedy gold. This is probably my fifth time listening, maybe fourth or sixth. Scott is constantly on-point, the guests are great... Just an all-around exemplary episode of Comedy Chun-Li. Very special thanks to James Adomian for the priceless entertainment, and the fact that he has outdone himself since this episode, most notably in Shed Busting.

Episode 91.5 — Ghost of Bob Odenkirk

I'm squinting, and now hesitating to even make this comment, but here it goes. I got out of bed, naked, to stumble to my computer and say: this is easily one of the best episodes I've ever listened to. I'm only 19 minutes in, and Bob has meshed with the ladies so well that this is one for the record books. I love Harris and PFT, Jeff Garlin, Paget Brewster, so many great episodes... But already this one is in my top 5, easily. Please have him back after or during the first season of Better Call Saul, this episode so far has been amazing. Anyone who may be reading this, especially the ladies themselves, please note: I am fully naked and when I stand up to meander back to my bed, my bare ass is going to peel off of this chair. Goodnight!

Episode 91.5 — Ghost of Bob Odenkirk

Haven't listened yet, just got home from a Halloween party... This is the perfect thing to smoke a bowl to and fall slowly asleep. I haven't been this excited to listen to an episode of Ron & Bev for awhile. The last time I heard Bob Odernkirk, it was during that Speakeasy episode with Scott as the guest, where Bob showed up just to do a quick voiceover for only about 5 seconds of the interview, making it look like Scott did an impression of him. Even though you don't see Bob, I know he was there, because there's no way Scott's impression was that dead-on. "heeeey buddy..."

    Earwolf/VPN?

How about a Pay-What-You-Want model, where we can buy high quality downloads right from the Earwolf store? It seems to be a popular and successful way to monetize certain things; the first ones that come to mind are Louis CK's album from a few years ago, Radiohead's album from just before that, and the website Humble Bundle which allows buyers to pay what they want for video game bundles and give a portion of their payment to charity and/or "keeping the lights on." Maybe it's just me, but for me I'd definitely buy every episode of Comedy Bean Bag, and most episodes of my other favorite podcasts. With the PWYW formula, it creates many smaller transactions where we're able to donate a bit directly to Earwolf, which is a great incentive to pay more than the minimum each time. I think if listeners know there's a video version of what they're listening to, especially for some of their favorite episodes, they'll feel like they need to see it too. Many people will want to watch them, and when they do they'll want to pay more than the minimum because this way they get to directly contribute to Earwolf and/or charities of Earwolf's choice. At least that's what one would hope! I'm pretty positive you guys would have already thought about this and discussed it, I just want to put it out there that I think it would be a really effective, potentially hugely successful way to monetize the videos. I think having small preview videos along with the audio podcasts will get pretty much every fan into it, and once they're into it I think they'll be committed. I hope there's a way to make it worth it, because the videos that are already out there are amazing. Thanks for the responses! Also, I know some friends of Earwolf have actually had their comedy featured in a Humble Bundle in the past, and they've plugged it on some episodes of Comedy Bing Bong! So there's already a connection to that world, and Earwolf could have their videos featured in bundles like that too.
