If you guys want to yell about "Iron Fist" some more, Lewis Tan is on They Call Us Bruce. I think we all agreed that his "drunken master" fight scene was one of the best in the series. His dad is Philip Tan who is an actor and stunt choreographer who worked on SURF NINJAS, TANGO AND CASH, CRANK: HIGH VOLTAGE. Does that make him a HDTGM all star? ETA: Love their stories about the filming of various RUSH HOUR movies. And now I want HDTGM to cover "No Retreat, No Surrender"!

Bill O'Reilly made a racist comment about Congress Woman Maxine Waters' "wig" and my first reaction was to come here and ask if June thought it was a wig. Because it looked like real hair to me.

I laughed out loud. I think the IF people think that they DID cast him for his acting. They heard GoT was a good show so they assumed anyone on it would be good? Maybe? But I've seen episodes of Power Rangers with better fights than "Iron Fist" had. I was really expecting some sweet martial arts moves. Young Seagal or current Seagal? Ah fuck, both sound better than Finn Jones. I think we know who'd make the best Iron Fist though. The handsomest man in the world! THE DEFENDERS recently wrapped filming. Doug Petrie and Marco Ramirez, who did "Daredevil" season 2, are the creative team. They said the other showrunners had "input on how their characters would act" but here's hoping that the Iron Fist guy was ignored.

This is the BAD movie podcast so we're talking about the BAD NETFLIX SHOW. Duh. ... also I found myself not really feeling LEGION due to a recent mental hospital stay. I only watched one episode.

EDITED: OR maybe it's a Jacob's Ladder tv series. Danny actually dies in the plane crash and this is his fever dream about what his future would've been. He was clearly a messed up kid. That's why we have to keep seeing the same goddamn shots of the snow all the time.

As someone who hasn't read IRON FIST comics, just Power Man and Luke Cage, I was surprised by that too. I don't think Kwanten is too old--he is the same age as Mike Colter. I was actually worried when Finn Jones was cast because he's more than a decade younger than Mike Colter. I can't really see them as best buds. Which would suck. (Imagine if he has more chemistry with Charlie Cox and Jessica and Luke are forced to name their baby Mattelle? I'd riot.) Anyway, I don't have anything to say about BODY PARTS, haha. When they're going through this week's thread for C&O, they will have a lot of Iron Fist corrections...

I'm only six episodes in, but there are some good moments followed by like the rest of the episode being about the difficulties of running a big company? Like I am supposed to feel bad that they are getting sued by someone with cancer because their chemical plants might have caused it? I would've loved to see the Tournament where Danny becomes the Iron Fist, and then only to have him sent back to NY to fight the Hand. It's like the QUEST, I guess. You were promised BLOODSPORT and got a lot of weird other serious stuff. (Except even French Clown Van Damme is at least on the side of the people?) I just don't think they understand the character very well. What I liked about Luke Cage and Jessica Jones was that the creators had a very specific vision of what they wanted the show to be about. Iron Fist feels more like, "Ah fuck I guess we gotta do Iron Fist now. Anyone know who that is?" And they settled on a guy who had read one arc or something. It's not even really fun bad. Although I'm excited that Cameron says it gets WORSE.

Not related to this ep, but if anyone is interested I've been recapping "Iron Fist" over on my tumblr. I've been thinking about this podcast a lot. Right from the jump with Finn Jones' feet (and Jason's rant about not wanting to see people's feet from TMNT2). Iron Fist's training (minor spoilers?) was literally him being beaten by sticks! I was like, "Someone listened to the Bloodsport ep!"

This is truly a movie to watch with your mom. Thank your mom for the answers.

Oh and I wanted to say re: the Amazon price of "Surf Ninjas" novelizations going up. It might not be that they have actually increased in value so much as Amazon has had more people searching for them (because of the podcast) and thus raised the prices. I know they often will charge you more for a product you had searched previously than something you never looked at before. I am sure the prices will go down again.

What if all the HDTGM fictional vaguely Asian nations are really one nation? Like THE PHANTOM used to protect Bengala, but he didn't have a son so Raul Julia was able to take over and call it Shadaloo. Then JCVD showed up an liberated the place, but installed some kind of puppet dictator who was Johnny and Adam's dad. Except Leslie Nielsen wanted to bring things back to the Shadaloo days, which is why he has to have weird outfits.

I was not at all sad when my girl X-23 killed her. But it did not make sense in the movie. ETA: Goddamnit, Fister! Stop gif-ing faster than I can!

I tweeted to Nicole Byer and said she had more chemistry with Ernie Reyes Jr than Kelly Hu did and she faved it. So I'm happy about that. DYING to know her take on TMNT Secret of the Ooze now though. We need to redo that episode with Nicole and Tatiana Maslany. Hopefully they will not do racist accents. I only know Kelly Hu from X2: X-Men United. I have a correction/omission from that film. Since--full disclosure--I did not watch this one. She plays Lady Deathstrike who is a villain in the comics. But in the film it is shown that she is under mind control by William Stryker. There is even a scene where she seems to not want to do what he says and he forcibly pulls her head down (in a very rape-y way!) Later, Scott/Cyclops is under the same mind control and Jean basically yells "fight it" at him and he is straight up fine and back to normal really quickly. Except when Wolverine fights Kelly Hu's character, he straight up murders her. AND IT IS A CHEER MOMENT IN THE FILM. What the fuck, Bryan Singer?

And I believe you all THINK there was one with Ice Cube, but I also kind of think it might be a giant hoax. I also seem to have forgotten the first one. I know there was Samuel L.
