The misogyny of Valerian, how to socially distance a date, and more on this week’s mini-sode! Paul offers advice as he opens up the Paul Help Line, goes through Corrections and Omissions for Valerian, and June stops by to talk about how The Jane Club is staying connected with its community during this time. Plus, find out which movie will be covered next week! Subscribe to Unspooled with Paul Scheer and Amy Nicholson here: http://www.earwolf.com/show/unspooled/ Check out The Jane Club over at www.janeclub.com Check out new HDTGM merch over at https://www.teepubli…wdidthisgetmade Where to Find Jason, June & Paul: @PaulScheer on Instagram & Twitter @Junediane on IG and @MsJuneDiane on Twitter OH MAN! Adam Scott is coming back. I love mocking Vin Diesel (anyone see the video of him at the ENDGAME premiere? I think he was very high.) Scared to watch Bloodshot. I am a little bit familiar with the comic book character but not with the movie. Paul also mentioned they had a backlog of eps. What are those? Should I watch one of those? I really don’t want to watch TRANSFORMERS. I feel like we are negotiating with terrorists!!!

Where is the Paul pretends to be Oprah nominations? Is that somewhere else?

Episode 238.5 — Prequel to 239
Elektra Boogaloo replied to muttnik's topic in How Did This Get Made?
I completely disagree but don’t really want to fight about it. I was one of those nerds who was unhappy with the series from the beginning and has passionate opinions about the erasure of Arianne Martell. Anyway, bad movies! -
Oh okay! I was just thinking, “Poor Codi. This is too long.”
-
Wow we gotta put these nominations in one post. For “The Secret” the “scientific research” (already nominated for the best use of google) moment is about 16 minutes in. I would also like to add a June is Not Having it nomination for this one. About 1 hour 12 minutes in she just keeps saying “no” to Jason’s setup of the film. “I have said no to this.”

I will say I don’t think the HP books are as flawlessly executed as Jason thinks they are (maybe we gotta get DanRad back on the show) but they are very good and something I recommend as comfort reading. JKR reminds me so much of Hermione when she is mad. She goes scary places. Anyway, I look forward to future articles about George RR Martin’s “petty” revenges on the show runners. -
Damnit, well there was definitely a Boston live episode where Jason mocked them. Gotta find that on then.
-
I like this idea. Gonna probably have to talk about “The Covenant” and the mA geography battle. I have another nomination. Best second opinion song at live episode. “The Great Wall,” second song beginning at 1 hour, six minutes in. “Circle of Life” parody sung by Fiona.

“Space Jam”, 27 minutes in. We are living in a post-Monstars victory. How Did We Get Sheer ”Space Jam, 1 hr 10 min. Tasmanian Devil college dorm

Episode 238 — Bloodshot (w/ Adam Scott)
Elektra Boogaloo replied to Wil Dride's topic in How Did This Get Made?
There is an Animal Planet show called “Too Cute” about baby animals that might be what you are looking for. I have only seen some episodes. https://www.animalplanet.com/tv-shows/too-cute/ i also liked the Disney+ series called “Pick of the Litter” that is about puppies training to be guide dogs for the blind. -
Yes! Then the Country Bears talk can go in there too instead of tangent, and tangent can be reserved for truly bizarre stories.

Episode 238 — Bloodshot (w/ Adam Scott)
Elektra Boogaloo replied to Wil Dride's topic in How Did This Get Made?
I did not watch this movie. My understanding of Bloodshot from the comics was that he was brought back from the dead and now was really impossible to stop. And he had red eyes. That's all I remember. When they were talking about the wife and how it would be more interesting if they hadn't been married and it made me think of X-MEN ORIGINS WOLVERINE where it turns out Silverfox was not killed by Sabertooth and she had been manipulating Wolverine all along. And then I thought, "is this a WORSE version of that movie? Because that is famously the worst Wolverine film." So they took a comic book character, the plot to Wolverine, added in the scientist from IRON MAN 3 and were like "we did it! It's great!" (I am now obligated by feminism to point out Guy Pearce was not supposed to be the villain of IM3. Disney corporate objected to the original plan of having the female scientist--Maya Hansen--be the villain saying they wouldn't sell toys or some nonsense. So they demanded it be rewritten. An I rewatched it recently and the theme of hiding behind a fake male villain, the Mandarin, and being the puppet master would've been so much more interesting if it was a woman because she felt she couldn't get ahead in tech another way. So we were robbed.) -
I may have dreamed up a new category last night. What do you guys think? Best Paul Aggressively Mispronunciation Ron Silva from “Timecop” (time code needed, was this also “balcony monsters?”) Louise Guzman from “Teen Witch” (time code needed) Snake Plisten from “Escape from LA” (time code needed) oh fuck I had another eta: Vanilla Frog from “Simply Irresistible”? (It was fog as we established in the mini.)

Nomination for Best One Liner (?) - Paul Scheer, “My Stepmother is an Alien”, “Put her in a bra.”
-
I am going to nominate “Hobbs and Shaw: Live” for best second opinions song because it makes me laugh when she keeps going even though Paul thought she was done. 1 hour 20 minutes in. Singer is named Stacey.

Episode 237.5 — Prequel to 238

Unrelated to this episode, I found this trending on YouTube and thought of you guys. -
Best Use of Google “The Country Bears” 32 minutes in, begins with “I would love to have one if these County Bear heads in the Wall...” Best Tangent, “The Country Bears” 1 hour 11 min in, “Will frosted tips come back?” and discussion of 90s style. question about the best second opinion category. I think there is a very funny bit here about Friday Night Family Night in these second opinions, but the opinion itself isn’t that funny. Would that count? Or are we looking more for really weird second opinions?

Episode 237.5 — Prequel to 238
Elektra Boogaloo replied to Elektra Boogaloo's topic in How Did This Get Made?
To be fair, BLOODSHOT did terribly at the box office partly because of the pandemic—movie theaters closed. Maybe they are just trying to help Vin and the studio out? (As someone who works in media I felt obligated to say that content creators are hurting right now, and I am thinking of buying EMMA partly because it’s box office was decimated. But I still will probably not buy BLOODSHOT. It wouldn’t cost me $20 in theaters even. Plus I just looked it up and it was pretty close to breaking even on its budget. So it’s fine.) -
Episode 237.5 — Prequel to 238

Thanks for the video, @DrGuts1003. I didn't realize this was $20. I may just watch this and read the Wikipedia synopsis. It's not like I actually enjoy Vin Diesel movies. I mostly enjoy how much the "family" does. So. Does anyone else think Vin Diesel is pissed he only voices Groot in the MCU? Because for years he has been talking about being Black Bolt and I am convinced he is the only one who wants this. (Especially since an INHUMANS TV show with this character came out and he didn't play that character.) And BLOODSHOT was supposed to launch a Valiant Comics Cinematic Universe. Haha. -
In the Little Italy episode. June's not having it moment is at 15 minutes, 30 seconds in about. Gish and Gertz is also in this episode. I don't know what to nominate that for. Spinoff? If anyone wants to do a supercut, I would suggest all the times "I can talk about [X] for [one hour, the whole podcast, forever, etc]."

I miss Jessica St Clair. -
“Alyssa Milano pants” happens a little before the 60 min mark for “Double Dragon.” what episode is is the faberge egg talk with Jessica St. Clair? That’s got to be best tangent, right? Another idea: have Marcus Lemonis on and pitch him AirBuds.

How could I have forgotten it the first time around?? I feel bad that I am mostly coming up with those and not the categories Paul posted. LOL.
