EPISODE 109.5 — MINISODE 109.5
Elektra Boogaloo replied to JulyDiaz's topic in How Did This Get Made?
I didn't know there was a documentary until this minisode. I just finished watching it. My mind is blown. It was like one crazy guy wanted to make a movie and he ended up with the craziest cast of dumdums (tm Jason) then got fired and was replaced with some rando who hated everything about it. And there's also a part about some woman's pubic hair growing up all over her body? WHAT IS HAPPENING? I remember seeing this movie in theaters (don't judge, Val Kilmer was hot back then) and being so confused. So now I think there needs to be an ep about Island of Dr. Moreau and one about Lost Soul (the documentary). There's a lot to cover. I mean, the director claims he used witchcraft to get Marlon Brando to take the part. That is an actual thing he bellieves. -
EPISODE 109.5 — MINISODE 109.5

I want to propose another theory. FACE/OFF's Castor was the greatest character ever created in the history of time. A time traveller goes back to ancient Greece and tells this story. Then Suzanne Collins names her characters after the myth, because she's got all those mythological references. But what she doesn't know is that she's actually named her characters after Nicolas Cage (and the other guy) who were the inspiration for the myth. And when Nicolas Cage dies he wil literally ascend to the constellation named after Castor and Pollux (Gemini, the Twins) and become a LITERAL Hollywood star. -
Episode 109 - FACE OFF: LIVE!

I was just about to come here and say this. I have a friend who is a US Marshall and sometimes he guards "Ruthie." She likes to go to classical music concerts. I love this movie. But now that you point out how creepy-touchy the "face waterfall" is, I can't see it as sweet. I bet he did that to Scarlett Johansson at the Oscars. I love Randall Park's Scientology observations. I bet L. Ron Hubbard wrote the first draft of this. That's why the science is so glossed over in just a few seconds. -
EPISODE 108 — Con Air LIVE!

I do enjoy this movie. But it doesn't make sense. Check out this aerial view of Las Vegas: You can see the airport, the Strip, and the less populated areas around. I remember going to Las Vegas shortly after I saw it. (Actually, I think I saw it on the plane to Las Vegas, but that can't be right. They wouldn't show a plane crashing movie on a plane? Would they?) And the airport is SO CLOSE to the strip. Anyway, my whole group stood at the airport, looked over at the strip. Looked at open desert nearby and was deeply confused. They say it's because they're running out of fuel that they have to land on the strip. While I don't know how to fly a plane, if you were running out of fuel in a car, you could still turn the wheel to veer in a different direction. Even if the ONE MILE to the airport was too far to travel. They could've landed in the desert. Or at least somewhere less populated. I maintain that Swamp Thing purposefully murdered all those people. -
EPISODE 107 — Lake Placid: LIVE!

I hate to disagree with Jason, but he is pronouncing Reese's Pieces wrong. As evidence, I present the famous Reese's Pieces . HB Reese was the creator of the Reese's peanut butter cup, and the pieces line seems named specifically to rhyme with Reese's. I know several people who pronounce it the way Jason does (peee-ceees) and I would love to know how and why this developed. It seems to be a regional thing. There was a BuzzFeed article about it recently. -
EPISODE 106 — Deep Blue Sea: LIVE!

I love that it says Samuel L. Jackson was offered the part of Preacher (who was not originally supposed to have such a big role) and he was like, "Hell, no, I'm not gonna play Chef from SOUTH PARK." And then Renny Harlin created a cooler role for him. I guess that explains the Ronny Cox mystery. His character must've been in charge before SLJ's was created. I would pay good money to see the awkward moment when he showed up to set to discover his part was completely erased. -
Truth!! Next year's Howdies should have a category "best actress trying to make a terrible comedy work" or something with nominees Emma Thompson and Dolly Parton. Small nitpick: Emma wrote Sense and Sensibility not Pride and Prejudice.

Episode 96.5 — Minisode 96.5

I LOLed at Jason telling June about the sushi in drug stores in NYC. I live here and everyone I've spoken to about it is baffled by this phenomena. They added sandwiches and more lunch stuff to Duane Reades (which is owned by Walgreens) and there is indeed sushi. I remember telling my friend "I'M HUNGRY NOT INSANE." And FIVE HOURS at the dinner table over liver? That is bananas. Epic battle of wills! My parents would've given up after 10 minutes and just ate my portion. I agree with darlarosa, more food talk in the minsodes.
