"The Informers" came and went pretty quickly in 2009, but it's toward the top of my list of favorite guilty pleasure movies. First of all, it's dealing with a very serious topic (the AIDS epidemic in the 1980's), it's based on a Brett Easton Ellis book, and it's got an all star cast (Billy Bob Thorton, Kim Basinger, Mickey Rourke, Winnona Ryder, etc.) doing that "Crash" thing where various seemingly unrelated plotlines converge at the end. But it does not gel at all and what you get is essentially the "Showgirls" of the aughts that's not only set in the 1980's but really goes well out of its way to remind you, at every turn, that it's set in the 80's with the some of the most hilarious on-the-nose music cues ever. It's beautifully shot with beautiful people (not all of whom are great actors) just being generally horrible to each other. It was basically disowned by Ellis, who was mad because they took out his vampire subplot (the vampire by the way was supposed to be played by Brandon Routh). If you have a Netflix account, you can see for yourself right now since it's available on Watch Instantly. With a 13% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, I humbly submit "The Informers."

Please do an episode on Biggles. It's insane, complete nonsense and thinks it's cool as shit (it's not). Logic goes to die in this movie and I'd like to hear you talk about it. Especially June, as there is a lot of flying in it. By the way the trailer makes the action look fast but in the movie it drags on and on, such as the scene where they blow up a radar dish. I grew a full beard in the time that took. Thanks, SG Ps. I think it was Peter Cushing's final film, which is a shame.

Ok, so this is a already-shot 1980s action comedy throwback that is currently in the midst of a Kickstarter campaign to cover post-production costs. It seems to be currently funded at the moment, so HUZZAH to them. It's about a Kung-Fu-fighting cop who goes back in time to kill Hitler but Vikings interrupt him or something. Anyway, watch the trailer because it is magical and ridiculous. http://www.kickstart...gfury/kung-fury This version of the film is only 30 minutes long, so it probably would be a poor choice for an actual episode, BUT the writer/director/star seems to be an interesting fellow (since he did get this made, at least for the most part) and has a charming Swedish accent, so I think he'd make an excellent guest on the show. The movie seems to be in the mode of Miami Connection, but on more restricted funds, so it'd be interesting to hear how such low-budget films get done and what makes things like Sharknado or Birdemic terrible but Miami Connection worth watching. Cross-promotional opportunities abound.
