I feel like James Woods and Baldwin probably developed arthritis problems from all the high fives they did on set from all the "nailing it" they thought they were doing. I really do think they both firmly had the idea in mind that they were going to go ahead and do all the drugs they possibly could and make up as much of their own dialogue as Carpenter would allow.
