    Episode 148 — Wipeout!

I can't join in the unanimous praise for the entire episode, because the interminable "Beav Talk" bit just seemed to run itself into the ground – but from Wipeout! onward, this is probably my favourite episode since Dogpocalypse. I'm obviously a sucker for the world-building episodes. If this is groggy, overworked, frazzled Scott, I'd like to keep 'im this way.

    Stats?

Is there any public data on which Earwolf podcasts are most downloaded? Which episodes of which 'casts have had been the most popular?

Episode 66 — Get Up On This

Awesome ep, but any conversation about of early, seminal white rappers that does not draw heavily on MC 900 Foot Jesus is a conversation wasted.

Episode 147 — Raisin Norman Bates

I have to admit I had my doubts about how Proops would fit into the show vibe -- his Smartest Man vibe is fun, but kind of aloof and caustic -- but he was awesome. I've started to mentally rate CBB guests not by how funny they are but by how game they are -- I enjoy CBB so much more when there's a guest that embraces the improv/games and runs with it. Proops fucking owned it on this podcast. I nearly died when the he suddenly became the gruff (but loveable) police chief.
  5. Too many podcasts, too little time -- but I was so blown away by Tig Notaro on CBB last week that Blastoff has moved from a get-around-to podcast to a must-hear podcast. What do you regular listeners recommend as a quick best-of? Is there a particular episode that really sells the show perfectly, or should I just listen to the first one and see if it clicks?
  6. That was a riff on Charlie Chan, though, which was hardly a super-enlightened character in the first place, so it gets a bit swampy to be down on Sellers for caricaturing a caricature.

Episode 140 — Ron Swanson Off

Jesus Christ, man, this is all he has now. Do you really want to take it away?

    Episode 142 — Popcorn.com

I'm not a Jesus Christ person, myself, but where would you rather we give unsolicited opinions about this podcast? Should we all convene in the Amazon reviews for Van Halen's "Balance" and talk about Comedy Bang Bang there? And -- unsolicited? This is the forum set up by Comedy Bang Bang in which to discuss Comedy Bang Bang. How in God's name (Jesus Christ people might have some valuable input here) is anything in this forum unsolicited? If you don't want to participate in a conversation about what we liked and didn't like about the podcast, you can always feel free to not read this forum. If you have something intelligent to contribute to the conversation, by all means, jump in. But telling us we don't have the right to express an opinion in a forum created exclusively for us to express our opinions is hilariously inane.

    Episode 8 — Analyze Phish Episode 4

Phish is now growing on me, thanks to this podcast, but I can't help but feel the band would be even better if they gave more respect and acknowledgement to their lighting designer. I'm sure that this unsung hero puts in countless hours of toil to really give concertgoers an experience unique to Phish shows, and if he were only more lauded, this could only inspire the band to even greater heights. It's a shame that the lighting designer, whoever he is, works in obscurity. Shall nobody shine a light on him? Is he not -- in fact -- a figure that one might even consider the fifth member of the band, when you really think about it?
  10. Especially appropriate if Play, of Kid n' Play, is on the podcast, accompanied by his good lady wife.

    Episode 143 — Grammy Spectacular

I have become a person who laughs out loud and claps his hands when he sees that Weird Al is on CBB this week, before even downloading it. At my desk. That is who I am now.

    Episode 13 — Crank 2: High Voltage

Jesus, the "can't touch the ground" idea is genius.
  13. I'm a Canadian, so I shop on Amazon.ca; when I click through your affiliate link, Amazon.com auto-detects my location and gives me a banner to click through to Amazon.ca. Do you know if your affiliate kickback still applies if I follow that path before purchasing stuff?

    Episode 142 — Popcorn.com

Coming at this as somebody that hasn't had much exposure to Tim & Eric to begin with, I thought they were fine off the top, and I was enjoying the escalation of popcorn.com. The Dr. Brunner/T&E mix, though -- I agree that it was oil and water, with Brunner left to flail for a lot of it. I actually got excited when Would You Rather? was announced, because that's where mismatched guests often start to shine despite being a bad pairing -- the OTT personality takes the scenarios in increasingly bizarre directions, while the more low-key guests either play straight men or get some great comedy pulls in the other direction. So I was pretty disappointed – actually, I was a bit pissed off – when the main guests totally fucked off on it. The guests that have blown my mind in the past are those that I haven't at all expected to be game, but turned out to be up for anything – Jon Hamm is amazing, and hell, Matthew Sweet wasn't exactly Don Rickles, but he was game. Tim and Eric are not game at all for anything, and I get a kind of petulant-child feeling from the "either we're driving the bus or we're taking our ball and going home" mentality. So yeah. I'm now less inclined to see Billion Dollar Movie than I was before. I was actually curious about it off the top, semi-sold during all the popcorn.com stuff, but by the end of the episode, my position had shifted to "ehh, fuck those guys." I guess I'm too old to find the too-cool-for-school pose intriguing any more.

    Episode 141 — Ladies Night

Yeah, I could have done with twice as much Tig and half as much Shouty Ladies Shouting. The "we talk a lot and talk over people and never stop talking" schtick works well at 200% (Huell Howser springs to mind) or at 20% (Bob Ducca), but just being garden-variety annoying results in... just being annoying. As with all comedy, YMMV -- I can see that other folks, like Chase Roper, dig their style a bit more. On the other hand, they, and Bro, are the only CBB characters I actively don't like, which speaks pretty damn well for the show overall.
