    Episode 189.5 - Minisode 189.5

Rob Cohen's becoming a favorite of the podcast. Stealth, The Boy Next Door, almost had a DragonHeart episode, and now this. The Skulls, xXx, and even the original Fast and Furious would all be solid options for their next foray into Rob Cohen's work.

    Dark Crimes (2018)

Thats the funniest thing about this movie, because its so bland and by the books his measured performance does significantly more to harm the movie. If his performance were a bit more unhinged it might have made some people able to enjoy it on a greater level. Now imagine him playing a character like James Mcavoy in Split and I think it'd be a much greater display of his talents.

    Eragon (2006)

Robert Carlyle was the only one who legit gave it his all in this. They didn't deserve the amount of effort he put into this movie. Malkovich was being much more honest in how much he really felt like trying.

    The Thirteenth Floor (1999)

Yea i'm going all in, the plot of this movie is significantly better in terms of concept than the Matrix. Its basically the plot of the Rick and Morty episode where they go into the micro universe that powers his spaceship and discovering they've also created their own micro universe.

    Dark Crimes (2018)

I'd love to see him in some different roles, I just think he bit off more than he could chew with both a humorless role and an accent. Also he's such a dynamic presence it almost just feels like a waste to have him in such a restrained role. They could have swapped him with anyone else and it really wouldn't have changed the movie in any significant way. I'd like to see him in a role like Robin Williams character in One Hour Photo. Which I thought was fantastic. It was a really dark and tense movie that really benefited from Williams manic energy. I think if he does decide to pivot and start doing some different roles I think they should still acknowledge and play on his strengths as an actor.

    Mom and Dad (2017)

Watched this last night and enjoyed it, the scoring and soundtrack choices especially in the first half were so crazy that they were starting to make me feel insane which I think was his intention so bravo.

    The 6th Day (2000)

Biggest bummer about the ending was how the completely threw away all the legitimate points that the villain and Robert Duvall made about cloning and turned him into some unhinged lunatic obsessed with immortality.

    Blank Check (1994)

He buys that mansion for 250k which even when adjusted for inflation is still some of the biggest horseshit in the entire movie. And that includes a grown FBI agent telling a fucking ten year old to call her in eight years.

    Dark Crimes (2018)

His marriage to Jenny Mccarthy did him no favors. His art isnt amazing but he is clearly having fun which is what id rather he be doing than bothering to star in garbage movies like this. If he wants to star in something dramatic it needs to be something that fits him rather than trying to shoehorn himself into something. Adam Sandler is by no means someone I look as a go to dramatic actor but he was great in Punch Drunk Love and Reign Over Me. Carrey needs to find projects that fit him more rather than trying to just become some gritty actor that he's never been nor will be.

    Dark Crimes (2018)

He clearly went through a mid life crisis a few years back with the whole creepy video he made about Emma Stone. It's cool he's trying his hand at some more dramatic roles but he's never really shown an ability to do so. Truman Show and The Majestic were both good movies, Truman Show in particular I think is my favorite movie of his. But neither were too demanding in terms of emotional range. I never saw Number 23 or whatever that movie was called, but I know it got a pretty overwhelming negative response as well. I do legitimately love the paintings he's been doing recently though.

    A Gnome Named Gnorm (1990)

Bump this was one of those movies that they played on HBO far too many times so I've probably seen this like ten times depressingly enough.

    Episode 188.5 - Minisode 188.5

Cannot believe that this was well received when it first came out. 72% on Rotten Tomatoes is insanely high for this movie. I would have been much more on board for this movie if Jude Law and Angelina Jolie as the mains. Gwyneth and Jude didn't have nearly enough chemistry to hold this movie up.

    Show Dogs (2018)

Yea if you're making a garbage movie about a dog show, I'm pretty sure you're almost required to make that terrible joke. I'm almost entirely sure nobody involved in this movie was aiming to normalize pedophilia in any way.

The Man in The Iron Mask (1998)

I hadn't even thought of that before but now that you bring it up I'm really bummed they didn't make everyone speak in a French accent.

Wishmaster 2: Evil Never Dies (1999)

God how did I confuse those two he was also the bad guy in another HDTGM contender Low down dirty shame.

The Man in The Iron Mask (1998)

I think Gerard Depardieu will go down as the ugliest musketeer in cinematic history.

    Stay Tuned (1992)

The big set pieces like where they're in the French revolution, or the Dwaynes Underworld show aren't nearly as good as all the little snippets of shows that the kids watch.

    Man's Best Friend (1993)

Canine Unit Joint Operations? Yea I suppose that's a logical direction to head in Why not just remake this?

    The Sorcerer's Apprentice (2010)

There's already a topic for this one the but the dude spelled Sorcerer incorrectly. That being said, how in the hell could they cover Season of The Witch before this movie. Nicolas Cage's character in this movie is meant to be Yen Sid from Fantasia. Whether this movie is supposed to be either the sequel or prequel to Fantasia remains to be seen.

    Eragon (2006)

After skipping DragonHeart, maybe they should do this one instead. It feels far more deserving.

    Wishmaster (1997)

This and the sequel are both great.

    Stay Tuned (1992)

I'd love it if they covered this movie.

Bump, both this and the original are both very fun movies.

    Man's Best Friend (1993)

Bump for this movie which I guarentee was sold to studio executives as "Cujo meets Terminator".
