EPISODE 108.5 — Minisode 108.5
Ofcoursemyhorse replied to JulyDiaz's topic in How Did This Get Made?
I've posted this before but Patrice O'neal flipping on face/off is one of the best things ever. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Z9SozBAV3E -
It was also scored by Buckethead.

This would be a fucking amazing movie for them to cover. Terrible greenscreen, Baboon Lizards, some of the worst science babble (fucking timewaves) i've heard in a long time, and alot of otherwise decent actors in roles im sure they all regret. The shot of Ed Burns love interest in the movie turning into a catfish hybrid is among the more magical moments in film history.

Lets not forget it was Oliver Platt who was cast as the most popular wrestler, love me some Oliver Platt but never has someone been further from being able to portray an intimidating physical presence. Also whose decision was it to make Joey Pants dress like a Native American for the whole movie?
-
This really is a fucking strange movie, the ending is so weird and uncomfortable on top of everything else that leads up to it.
-
This movie is fucking dumb, but I love Parker Posey in it. I think everyone but Wesley Snipes had a fucking blast filming this dud.
-
This movie is right in this podcasts wheelhouse. A drama that fails on all levels and everyone is a fucking lunatic. Including teenage Vader, who nearly becomes a prostitute for some weed.

It's amazing he got accolades for this role. He's such an insufferable shit for the majority of the movie. And that he "wins" the movie by threatening the neighbor as the dude who was blowing him is fucking bananas.
-
Its a fun movie, Cage clearly had a good time with the role. I always used to mix up this with One Good Cop with Michael Keaton.

Just rewatched this movie in the morning to see if it was as crazy as I remembered, and it did not disappoint. Theres so much crazy shit in this movie. So just Anakins plot alone is worthy of an entire podcasts discussion. His introduction in this movie is waking up from sleep and within ten seconds he is huffing and asphyxiating himself in his closet. The mom says nothing about it even after walking in with her two younger sons. Cut to him at high school. The girl hes interested in is apparently dating a pimp who wants to add Anakin to his stable of he-bitches. And she seems to be totally fine with all of this. I really cant even begin to explain all the goddamn insanity but this movie would be perfect for the podcast.

Kevin Kline does a great job with what he has to work with and his character is somewhat sane despite his whole illness hiding thing. Hayden is a fucking loon in this movie. He lives in a mansion and with parents who care about him. Cut to him huffing and trying to hang himself in his closet. All the drama in this movie is always inexplicable and out of nowhere. The ending is pretty goddamn nuts too.

The biggest bummer about them not doing their own movies are the on-set stories they could share. This movies biggest problem is that its a buddy comedy and Michael Cera and Jack Black have next to no chemistry. Which is a shame because June was great in it. Lets be fair though, at least this movie isnt Your Highness.

While I agree that end battle with the two larger spiders was pretty insane, this is a great movie.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=moUb8DSgdp0 There really was an era of some fucking terrible Martin Lawerence movies.

Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead (1991)

Guys lets be real, this is a fucking terrible movie. That being said I dont think its a great fit for the podcast just for the fact that alot of what makes it terrible is the era it came out of. -

Who cares, a bad movie is a bad movie. If theyre going to critically discuss other peoples movies, they can like June would say "Be a man" and turn the criticisms toward their own terrible movies every once in a while. And to be fair they have a couple times, The Love Guru had Rob Huebel, Jack Frost had PFT and a bunch of Mr. Show people in it albeit in tiny fucking roles.

What's The Worst That Could Happen?

Poor Danny Devito, squandered in shit movies for a decade before ending up Its Always Sunny to remind people that he was still that same hilarious curmudgeon from Taxi. -
I just hope beyond hope that this movie is at least on their radar. I feel like they would like this more than they did Junior at the very least.

Bump. If they ever do a Billy Crystal movie they really need to start with this crazy shit.

My english teacher was friends with a guy who was hired to write the sequel but it fizzled when Mayall decided he was too old to the play the role again.

I love that the movie ends with John Ritter dumping his movie/real wife in favor of a sociopathic ginger.

Mrs. Winterbourne (1996)

This would be a good one for the podcast. The guy who directed also did Milk Money, Marci X and Made in America, which are all worthy in their own way as well.
