    The Visitor (1979)

This is obviously the best Jesus and Commander Yahweh fighting Sateen with birds while Sam Peckinpah performs abortions on Lance Henriksen's devil basketball baby in the hopes that Glenn Ford and Shelly Winters save the Earth from a pong playing, ice skating killer child who does gymnastics after shooting her mom. Totally avilable on You Tube in like 12 parts.

    Android (1982)

Strange Doctor (Klaus Kinsky) and his android assistant Max (Don Keith Opper: also stars in Critters) on a secret remote space lab, get paid a visit by 3 criminals on the run. (One of the criminals is played by Brie Howard.) Max is discovering his sexuality and just wants a girlfriend. When things don't go his way, he gets upset and starts killing people. Klaus Kinski is being Klaus Kinski and D.K.O. is super creepy.

    Slipstream (1989)

Ten reasons why Slipstream (1989) is perfect for this podcast: An absolutely nonsensical premise: In the future, the jet stream has descended to ground level and eroded away all civilization, forcing people to live in caves and fly planes instead of driving cars. Mark Hamill in his first role as a villain - a sadistic, angry bounty hunter/police officer(?) in a post-apocalyptic future Bob Peck (the raptor guy from Jurassic Park) as a poetic, well-dressed android on the run Robbie Coltrane (Hagrid) as the leader of a cult that worships the jet stream (it gets better, but no Spoilers) Bill Paxton's incredulous overacting as a horny, ne'er-do-well sky cowboy in what I believe to be the only possible final installment of a Twister trilogy So much budget spent on the cast that the special effects are on the level of Superman IV or Masters of the Universe. This movie could have been made by a gang of bored 12-year-olds in Montana. A convoluted history, involving producer Gary Kurtz (Star Wars and Empire Strikes Back) trying to recreate the success of his previous films, like the Dark Crystal and American Graffiti Intense biplane chases and fight sequences on top of airplanes Ben Kingsley - seriously, what in the fuck? And, if that wasn't enough, you're not going to make it out of the trailer with any reservations: I found this gem in a DVD set of about 70 public domain scifi films. I selected it randomly as the first one I watched. Oh my god, am I glad I did. This film is right up your ally, folks. p.s. Despite all the nonsense and ridiculous plot, some of the acting is truly well-done, as if they thought of this as a spiritual successor to 1982's android hit, Blade Runner. The budding villainous Mark Hamill is a delight to watch.
  4. Cheesy low budget Sci-Fi that you know meant well - I have two candidates: Starcrossed where young James Spader plays a good guy??? who helps a pretty young alien escape from laser shooting twins who blow up his convertible. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0090066/ Starlight where Rae Dawn Chong is a crystal loving new age alien searching for her sensitive new age flute playing guy on the planet earth. Willie Nelson has a supporting role and provides some of the soundtrack. Sci-Fi set to country music interwoven with new age imagery, I can only imagine what they were smoking. http://www.imdb.com/...ref_=fn_al_tt_1 Described as "jaw-droppingly awful", a "celluloid atrocity", and liable to tempt "a Buddhist nun ... to nuke the nearest whale", it may have been the very nadir of Willy's career."

    Mindwarp

I strongly feel that the 1992 sci-fi movie Mindwarp would be an excellent candidate for the HDTGM treatment. It actually had the potential to be an interesting, though provoking, entertaining movie, and the presence of Bruce Campbell (post Evil Deads) and Angus Scrimm means it wasn't a totally "off-the-map" release. But wow, it just ends up being pretty insane. Blood drinking, near-incest, a strange mute kid covered in cold-sores, demon leeches, Matrix-esque plot elements, slight nudity, underground mutants who mine garbage (for some reason?), ridiculously dated looking (even for 1992) technology, highly amateur philosophy, and one of the most god-awfully terrible, drawn out "twist" endings of all time (seriously terrible ending). There's so much to make fun of (including a lot of the acting performances.) Yet, probably enough interesting pieces of plot to actually spur some conversation. And it is sort of fun to watch, overall. It's streaming on Amazon (for rent): http://www.amazon.com/Mindwarp-Bruce-Campbell/dp/B004AGKTL0 Even if it never makes it to HDTGM, fans of the podcast are probably the types who would enjoy (making fun of) this movie. Check it out!
