Episode 84 — Ally McVeal

Recommended Posts

Hand back the hash browns, stow away your toboggan, put on a warm sweater and settle in for some Sklarbro Country! Cheap Seats favorite Jon Glaser is in the hot seat to reminisce about his time with Randy and Jason on Cheap Seats and reveal some of the magic behind his hilarious projects like Tiny Hands and Delocated. Quick Hits is a bit of a misnomer this week as first-timer Ken Burns sets his own pace. Finally, we close it up with Bruce Jenner who sets the story straight on his Dancing with the Stars absence. HENDERSON!

Can't wait to see Behind the Kimono, though I'm not sure if a 30-hour Ken Burns doc is enough time to cover all of Steven Seagal. Literally. Because he is a very large man.

Great show today! Definitely a treat for us Cheap Seats fans. From the "Tile Pile!" callback to Jon Glaser's interview to the teaser for next week's show, it brought back some good memories.

I agree with what you guys said about the tiny hands stuff on SNL, but the thing with Fred Armison playing twin standups in the Kings of Catchphrase Comedy sketch I totally saw as a loving parody. I doubt the average SNL viewer knows who the Sklar bros are, so I don't think the joke was to make fun of you guys the same way that the sketch made fun of Dane Cook and Larry the Cable Guy. To me, it felt like an SNL writer just snuck that in there for the comedy nerds.

This.

Thought this was a fantastic episode, and one of the better ones in recent memory (along w/ ep 83 as well). Really enjoyed the Jon Glaser segment (and hearing the Sklars noticeably crack up is always a pleasure), Bruce Jenner was decently funny, but the highlight for me was Glaser talking about the "Glass" line... and especially the short Bill Clinton voice saying the same lines. Good stuff.

It was so great to hear Jon Glaser on Sklarbro Country! He was so awesome on Cheap Seats. Of course, Beamy was classic. My favorite Beamy memory is when he was crying about his cousin, who was a goal post who got ripped down by jubilant football fans. Was his name “Posty”? “No,” said Beamy, “It was Jeff Carlyle.”

And yes, Jon was The Score Settler. But how many of us remember that he and Johnny Damon became the new hosts of Cheap Seats after Ran and Jay got booted upstairs to be PA’s on Sportscenter.

But I most fondly remember Jon as Derek St. George, the guy who got cut to make room on the Edmonton Oilers roster for Wayne Gretzky because St. George had overslept due to a new digital alarm clock! Too funny!

Well, I’d love to spend all day strolling down Memory Lane about Jon and Cheap Seats, but I am meeting some friends at P.J. McTouchdown’s for wings and brew!

Henderson!!

two moments in this episode made me say "YES, THANK YOU" out loud to my empty house.

there is NO reason for the general's penguin sidekick, and hockey live is the greatest way a human can spend 3 hours.
