OoofMaGOOF 348 Posted May 26, 2015 Only 20 minutes in and have to finish it today, but it's so hilarious how clunky the action is. It's like they have that thing going on where they rolled, said action, and everyone went at it (like normal). Except in editing, they didn't cut the part where they were set before action. So it cuts, and it's Arnie standing there awkwardly, and then and he'll run equally awkwardly with a giant plank of wood and just knock guys into the water. What a gem. Share this post Link to post
culture_dump 21 Posted May 26, 2015 Loved every minute of watching this. I really hope they discuss the hot dog vendor chasing the guy with the half eaten hot dog in an effort to ensure he gets his Sauerkraut. Everything about the chase scene made no sense but that was the icing on the cake. Share this post Link to post

Everything about the chase scene made no sense but that was the icing on the cake. That was definitely next-level bonkers. Not to mention that those two were on foot and basically kept up with a chase involving a horse-drawn 'chariot' and a car. 1 Share this post Link to post
Redofthewolves 2 Posted May 26, 2015 It's Greek. Like Zouks. To he fair, I couldn't tell if it was Greek or Italian, just like this movie could decide whether it wanted to use the Greek gods or the Roman versions. 1 Share this post Link to post
MelissaBecker 79 Posted May 26, 2015 I really hope that Zouks is there for this episode. An episode focusing on the Greek pantheon (which are then randomly called by their Roman names sometimes) needs to have him there. Because remember how annoyed he got at Zeus in Xanadu? I also want basically the whole movie as a series of gifs. Pretzi's face needs to be all my gifs in the future. Also the old ladies on the airplane. Also the fight scenes where people just fall down when the punch is nowhere near them. 1 Share this post Link to post

OoofMaGOOF 348 Posted May 26, 2015 Yipes that was one horribly directed movie! And the editing was just...weird. But it was enjoyable, in its own way. Good? No. Enjoyable? Yes. So whacky to me it cut back and forth between the streets of NYC and a total "fish out of water" situation, and a theatrical (like play theatrical) set with people walking around in togas and speaking like they're in Shakespeare. 1 Share this post Link to post
OoofMaGOOF 348 Posted May 26, 2015 Here's one to get you started... I've watched that scene twice now (I watched the first 20 minutes, then had to watch a couple days later and just started over) and the second time I saw it, the thought of him waving all friendly to those women as he flew by just cracked me the hell up for some reason. And can we talk about her hat?! 1 Share this post Link to post

Yeah, I think I had to break it up into three viewings. It was good, but every so often I would pause thinking I had been watching for an hour and only 30 mins had passed. As far as the Olympians go...not so much "theatrical" for me. More like watching a porn where all the sex had been edited out. 1 Share this post Link to post
Lando 2019 Posted May 26, 2015 I feel like if this movie had been made in the 80s or 90s there would have been a wacky gay overtone to Pretzie. Also, is anyone shocked to hear the audible car noise in the background of the Mt. Olympus scenes? 1 Share this post Link to post

If so, I think I may have completely misread this movie... 1 Share this post Link to post
Kickpuncher 5012 Posted May 26, 2015 Here's one to get you started... I feel like Arnold Stang (Pretzie) saw that scene and made it his personal mission to out-cartoon that woman. 2 Share this post Link to post
Lando 2019 Posted May 27, 2015 Are you suggesting there weren't wacky gay overtones? If so, I think I may have completely misread this movie... Point taken, it is hard to argue that taking home a big half naked muscly guy is a totally heterosexual move. Although I think in the 80s or 90s it would be more overt and he would be over the top (ala Cleavon Little in Once Bitten) and there definitely would be a gag about someone trying to hit on Herc and he naively not understanding. 1 Share this post Link to post

Oh, I agree with you. It would have been much more overt (offensive) in the 80's and 90's. What we did get though was a three minute montage of Pretzie lovingly and wistfully remembering all the hijinks that Hercules got in to during his visit--including, apparently, moments he wasn't even present for..? I mean, I wasn't paying too much attention during the bear fight scene, but was Pretzie hiding in the bushes or something? I wouldn't put it past him. Oh Pretzie--you truly are a treasure of cinema. 3 Share this post Link to post
taylor anne photo 11311 Posted May 27, 2015 I'm about half way through this movie now and I am so angry that this is happening to me. I tweeted at them all and told them I would tell them all my secrets if they just stopped the torture! I might have to go watch The Room just to actually enjoy life again. 1 Share this post Link to post

Also, is anyone shocked to hear the audible car noise in the background of the Mt. Olympus scenes? Ahhhhh yes another horrible editing problem-TERRIBLE sound editing. Car noise in one shot, then a reverse shot, car noise is gone. The editing in this movie just dreadful... Share this post Link to post
Joven 373 Posted May 27, 2015 My favorite part about the car noises it they were most prevalent immediately after Hera/Juno/whatever said to Zeus how revoltingly noisy the Earth is and how peaceful Olympus is. 1 Share this post Link to post
Sievers 233 Posted May 27, 2015 I really hope they all watched the Arhnold dub, it makes a huge difference. This movie was always on my watch list growing up with Arnold but I had never got around to it. So glad I finally got to it at age 33, Amazing! The dubbed version makes it a whole lot less fun since the world knows Arnold's voice so well. 1 Share this post Link to post
