TimThompson 22 Posted April 4, 2012 29% on Rotten Tomatoes...Box Office Yield: 6.9M Â This movie has a lot of zany unbelieveable action that could be fun for the show. It's bad...there's no mistaking that, but there are a couple of wild parts that leave you ponderous. Â There's also a character who'd I'd describe as a 'broke-ass Jack Black'...His acting style is delivered with the intensity of a bucking bronco, coupled with all the hilarity of a really long funeral procession. Â For good HDTGM measure, the very song the movie is titled after is not even played during this movie...HDTGM? Wien 401 Posted April 4, 2012 I tried watching this on Netflix Instant, but it was too awful for me to sit through. I stopped and started it like 4 times. Share this post Link to post
TimThompson 22 Posted April 4, 2012 You need to 'Put some relish on your hawt dawg!'. Â Supposedly that means you need to live it up a little...one of the numerous terribly delivered lines by the Bo-Bo Jack Black. Share this post Link to post
Shannon 2953 Posted April 4, 2012 This poor movie... Â It would be really interesting especially if they found someone who was involved with the movie, (I vote Chris Pratt!!) because from what I gathered, it was originally a completely different movie but it tested badly and had to be redone. I think I heard there was a lot of cocaine in the orignal script. Â It's so obvious when watching it that there is a lot missing from the movie. And the plot line is so similar to "Can't Hardly Wait" except they're all adults so it's actually just sad. 1 Share this post Link to post
Wien 401 Posted April 5, 2012 The poster for this alone brings my piss to a boil. Â 1 Share this post Link to post

I think I heard there was a lot of cocaine in the orignal script. Â Ooh, yes. Topher Grace claims that the cocaine use is what kept the movie on the shelf for 4 years. Â I repeat: This movie was made in 2007, and it took four years for the studio to finally release it. That's twice as long as "Pluto Nash." Â Also, on the topic of how the song is never played in the movie, the weird thing is that it's not even the original title of the movie. Its working titles were "Young Americans" and "Kids in America..." neither one of which appears on the soundtrack, either (according to the semi-reliable IMDb). Share this post Link to post
Quasar Sniffer 4174 Posted April 6, 2012 This movie is the result of unfortunate meddling and holdover from the studio, but the cast is good enough that I don't think it ever descends into HDTGM territory. However, if one of the castmembers is willing to come on the podcast and talk about it honestly, then I'd love for that to happen. Â Although, it would almost be better to call that episode "How Did This NOT Get Made." Share this post Link to post

However, if one of the castmembers is willing to come on the podcast and talk about it honestly, then I'd love for that to happen.  Although, it would almost be better to call that episode "How Did This NOT Get Made."  Well, you'd be wrong...You know how I know 'Take Me Home Tonight' is a great, bad movie candidate...  It has Demetri Martin in it.  Although a great comic & funny man, his silver screen pursuits have blown up in his face. Every movie he's played in has been a bust at the box office. Poor bastard must have PTSD from all the celluloid shrapnel he's taken.   Dating back to 'Analyze That' in 2002 to present day:  2002 - 'Analyze That': http://boxofficemojo...analyzethat.htm 2008 - 'The Rocker': http://boxofficemojo.../?id=rocker.htm 2009 - 'Taking Woodstock': http://boxofficemojo...ngwoodstock.htm 2011 - 'Take Me Home Tonight': http://boxofficemojo...america2011.htm  Demetri Martin: http://www.imdb.com/...m1336595/#Actor Share this post Link to post
Quasar Sniffer 4174 Posted April 8, 2012 Those movies might all be a combination of unfortunate to watch and poor/horrendous flops, but he he got a laugh from me every time he... well, did anything in 'Take Me Home Tonight.' Â And, to be fair, if Ang Lee offers an actor/comedian a lead roll in a movie, it's not like that performer is likely to turn it down. There are reasons beyond Demetri Martin for the failure of Taking Woodstock, or any of these movies. Share this post Link to post
Nasher 29 Posted April 9, 2012 I like how that poster names the two people i painfully recognize but fails to name the two i don't.. Have to assume thats because their names wouldn't sell the movie.. so it seems odd that they take up 50% of the space. Share this post Link to post
TimThompson 22 Posted April 16, 2012 Gotta good feeling that this movie will be the focus for this week's episode. Â Â Off topic, it's been a while since they've done a movie that's still in theaters. Â It'll probably be a movie that's in theaters now that I think about it...but the week after has 'Take Me Home Tonight' written all over it. Share this post Link to post
