I think David is gettig really annoyed at being interrupted and ignored constantly.

Kyles niece would make a funny guest on an episode about being a child.

 

Sascha delivers facts in a way that sounds more like a highschooler delivering a hastily written report to their class than a lavishly educated history expert. I have no idea if what she's saying is true but I believed it all.

Yep. I was disappointed when David asked if Sascha knew much about the '80s, and she enthusiastically replied that it's the subject of her thesis, then there was no follow-up (aside from the funny AIDS riff). It wasn't even a particularly long episode, but I guess it's understandable given that this was apparently the back end of a double recording session.

Side note, if anyone is interested in the time period covered in this episode (and beyond), "Oliver Stone's Untold History of the United States" is a pretty interesting series.

Well...the wave of feminism that grew even stronger in the early 1970s definitely had already begun to express itself in the 1960s, in the wake of Friedan's THE FEMININE MYSTIQUE (and its bestselling status), the Civil Rights Movement, the varying degrees of counterculture, the AntiWar movement, the sexual revolution (to its varying degrees of existence)--and of course the amount of unconscious and not so much sexism in each of these movements...and the emerging lesbian as well gay male rights movements, with the Daughters of Bilitis standing side by side with the Matachine Society...

I would like to give a big salute to Kyle for going to Iraq to entertain the troops. What a wonderfully selfless thing to do for people who are themselves doing something amazingly selfless on behalf of us all. Kyle is an amazing talent and a wonderful guy.

 

I love all of the hatch-dwellers so much. The PBO podcast is a joy in my life.
