EPISODE 102 — Joe Wengert Again, Our Close Friend

Recommended Posts

I keep meaning to listen to doughboys but always forget!!! I am a former fattie on the straight and narrow so it makes me scared I might relapse! You wouldn't advise a former weed addict to listen to Talking About Weed Too Much With Doug would you???? But then I love Mike Mitchell so this is a real struggle.

When are we having that New England Earwolf meetup? I saw a guy with a comedy bang bang t shirt at Oddball fest so they are out there.

Anyone listen to the Bone Zone? I am totally going to the live taping they are doing in Boston 10/10 in my Randy Liedtke Slumberjack T Shirt!!!!!!

Doughboys is so great Muffie. People with food guilt tend to be the ones that really get into it based off my experience. Although it is fun to play along at home.

I also don't listen to the Bone Zone cause they called the best boys 'bitches' and 'fucking losers' and 'fucking idiots.' but the guy Chelsea Peretti gives so many shouts out to can't be all bad

doughboys is a good podcast because Nick Wiger is the only comedian working today with sincere opinions about the Nintendo 64 game Banjo-Kazooie

I like how Mitch is half-seriously feuding with like, 40% of their guests.

Spoilers for last week's Doughboys!

The revelation that Nick seriously considered doing tickle porn was a twist that has made me see him in a whole new light.

Speaking of opinions and benson, I don't mind telling you that I find Doug Benson to be one of the most inexplicably unfunny comedians out there. He just depresses me. A 50 year old man whose material is based entirely around pot is more sad than funny. Not just pot--the very idea of pot cracks him up. HOWEVER. The Leonard Maltin game is a work of genius and I play it with friends all the time. So I am forever indebted to him for his service to our country.

I get what you mean, I've never seen his stand-up, but his podcasts are pretty great and he's a good host. I was also shocked when I first found out his age

Anybody here listen to Ronna & Berverly? I used to absolutely love that podcast, but after 50 or so episodes I got kind of bored of it and stopped listening

people are old y'all. PFFT is mid-40's (2nd 'f' is for fuckin'), Marcaroni Maroni is 50+, ScottyBingBongs is 44. Shit, I'm not much younger than that. Everyone is old to someone. Everyone is almost 50. EVERYONE IS ALMOST DEAD IN RELATIVE TERMS! Get over it.

Here's my rankng of the Earwolf shows I listen to:

1. I4H (Never a bad ep)

2. CBB (Some eps are ok but some have have made me laugh more than I could ever imagine)

3. UTU2TM (Would be higher if more eps)

4. HH (All the other ones have side-notes)

5. NNF (Can imagine a lot of you don't like it since it's almost the exact opposite kind of humour to HH)

6. WSG (Agree with what's been said, a lot of ok but some great)

7. Who Charted (Gotten bored with it recently but still enjoyable)

8. HDTGM (Love Zouks and June, Paul Scheer's ok, I feel like I should like it more than I do)

I've only listened a bit to Womp It Up and Spont, wasn't able to get into them but I'll have to try again

I love making lists

I don't mind the live eps (when the audio is fine). I think they have a great energy. What I hate are the dumb audience "questions". The ultimate circle jerk of hipster comedy nerds vying for podcast immortality....and failing.

I asked a question at the live Furious 7 episode........ :(

Not gonna lie, I actually feel really embarrassed now.

Does everyone hold this opinion about the audience questions?

Another thing about Benson, his ever continuing obsession with doing the "my wife" bit is painfully unfunny

I forgot to say; Not really. There are an unusually high number of douchey people trying to be funny at way funnier people during the HDTGM Q's, which is funny to me because Paul and Jason usually give them the smack down.

But you were very charming and I thought that whole sequence was v funny (as Danny would say).

I fixed your list. I knew what you meant, but some of the people around here feel very strongly about Hollywood Handbook, they might not realize it was in error.
