I’m so glad @grudlian and @AlmostAGhost enjoyed Rockula so much! It warms my heart that I could bring so joy into your lives!

I dunno but number one has to be Rockula Also wouldn't mind if they dove into some old Lifetime Movie Network ones, like the classic cheese ones from the '90s like Mother May I Sleep With Danger or Friends 'Til The End Oh I once watched a Spanish Fast and the Furious ripoff called Combustion which was pretty terrible if they want to branch out into foreign films. that would be a good one

If Anita tells Maria about the Jets basically trying to rape her, then yeah she probably forgives her. It's very possible Chino would have shot Tony regardless. I agree with Cameron's take on Romeo & Juliet. The real point of the play is not about those two being in "real" love, it's about how the stupid family feud meant they couldn't deal with their lustful teenage feelings in a healthy way and caused a lot of unnecessary death. West Side Story extends that message to modern American racism and gang culture.

I mean anything with Tori Spelling is a yes! Not to date myself but I would love for them to do the cheesy great Original Disney Channel Movies from the 90's and early 2000's like Smart House, The Luck Of The Irish or The 13th Year about that boy mermaid. I know I got drunk and found one with a young Katherine Heigl where she and her younger sister switch bodies and its... Something. They have a scene where the older sister in younger sister's body goes to school dressed as a dominatrix and puts on a show at lunch which is uncomfortable as fuck.

Blank Check was what I assumed was the best plan for adult life. I was a very dumb child who dreamed of committing fraud because of this movie.

I have the same interpretation of R+J as just some hormonally charged, melodramatic teenagers, and not love at first sight (not that I think such a thing exists). I agree that WSS has a more believable love story. They meet at the dance, and then just make plans to meet at her shop, not to get married. Sure, they have the symbolic wedding, but I took that as just youthful playfulness confessing their feelings for each other, but I never understood it that they were already ready to live together and make babies. Here's a question - does Maria forgive Anita for lying to Doc and Tony that Maria was dead? What happens with their relationship?

Rockula is definitely in my top 5. My number 1 is No Retreat, No Surrender. I waver on Heartbeeps. It definitely is terrible enough and would be a good episode but watching it is awful. So awful it made me kind of physically uncomfortable watching it.

Yeah, R&J is just a mess of dysfunction. I’ve never really taken them to be “in love” either. Not only was Romeo hung up on Rosalind, but Juliet was being forced to marry the much older Paris. Juliet serves as a rebound for Romeo, and Romeo is an “out” for Juliet. Like, I think they were attracted to each other, but the only way their love would ever actually be “eternal” is through death. I always quietly chuckle when people hold R&J up as romantic ideals. Like I said previously, I think it’s more about squandered youth - dying young - over something stupid (e.g. a family feud, a gang rivalry) I think WSS sells Tony and Maria’s love a little better, to be honest. Sure, they’re being a bit naive, but I think that’s okay when you are first falling in love - or at least it should be. Cutting out the Rosalind character also helps sell the audience on Tony’s feelings for Maria; and Chino never really feels like as much of an issue for Maria as Paris does for Juliet.

Sycasey responded to that more thoroughly than I could have. Arglebargle's post left me assuming they were arguing there was some hidden metaphor that only Jews would recognize. I mean, it's a character named Ryan, played by Matt Damon. It was some real Charles Kinbote/exiled king of Zembla-reading of Pale Fire type there, but with uncomfortable amounts of anti-semitism. Though, for all I know, maybe Spielberg pissed off some Russian oligarchs and this was a bot. Or maybe Netflix hired the same PR firm Facebook hired in response to the whole Oscars stuff.

Lol - yeah, that’s cool. Here are my first five off the top of my head: 1) The Core 2) Blank Check 3) Live a Little, Love a Little (or some other Elvis movie) 4) Monkeybone 5) Town & Country

Can *I* say Queen of the Dammed? Because it must be talked about! I don't really have a top five but I do have a number one and that is Showgirls. I find new movies I want them to cover every so often but Showgirls has been my constant. WE HAVE TO TALK ABOUT THIS BONKERS FILM!

Here’s a question we haven’t asked in a long awhile: what are the top five movies you hope HDTGM will cover in the future? I think they’ve done a bunch of mine, so I’ll have to think about it myself... (Taylor’s not allowed to say Queen of the Damned )

I am SO excited for Monday! I had so much fun I can't wait to hear what everyone thinks.

I would consider Tony seeking out Chino to be suicide. I also think of Maria’s fate as a kind of metaphorical suicide. She’s not really going to “live” anymore, if you know what I mean. (I love Annie, too!)
