  1. The Empty Man made me do it... The first night you hear him. The second night you see him. The third night he finds you. Boom! Studios & HBO presents...The Empty Man........ The start of the film is terrifying & semi-intriguing. Four backpackers in Bhutan stumble upon a cave where a large God-like skeleton died meditating, one gets transfixed & put into a catatonic state. During the night, he whispers to his wife, I'm not going to lie, the concept is there and The Empty Man had me curious from the beginning to end. But in the end, I felt it was a waste of 2 hours. Although after a day of reflection, I'm still thinking about it & conjuring new interpretations. I don't think I can ever unsee this movie, which could be a good thing or a bad thing. Roger Ebert said, "The Empty Man draws comparisons to junky studio fare like The Bye Bye Man and Slender Man but this is a far more ambitious and accomplished piece of work than its reputation." There was a doll-like 18-year-old Only Fans girl with a bowl haircut and a ton of unnecessary flashbacks, but it was real creepy & there were beautifully shot sequences. I want to give credit to a lot of the actors that had me & discredit to a couple as well. You'll see... I think this film could possibly be a cult classic someday, pun intended. Love you all. kelkel
  2. Hi guys! So this is my first time making a topic I hope that I did right. So I'm up next after @WatchOutForSnakes on the Musical Monday rotation and I have a few ideas but so far nothing I want to do is streaming for free. I wanted to ask if you would be ok with renting a movie? I would be willing to pay someone to get it to Rabbit( because I don't know how to) if need be. If that's too much trouble I can pick something else. I'm just trying to get ready in time because I always forget until that Monday. Both ideas are two of my favorite classic films and I think we should have fun with either but I have some others as well I can look for!
  3. Hi there! My name is Adam, and I'm a writer/director in Vancouver BC. A few years ago I was listening to the Phantom episode of HDTGM, when Jason referred to a scene as "recon the movie." Or maybe it was "reconnaissance the movie"? Either way, I thought it was a funny idea, so I wrote a script, and we found a parking lot, and it's an actual movie that you can hold in your hands (if you download it and then hold your laptop or whatever...) Point is, we're nobody so nobody's seen it. So we'd like for YOU to see it! It's called The Reconnaissance of Josie Laurene and it's literally one character sitting in a parking lot for an hour! But a fun hour...? And look, a trailer! If you're so inclined, follow this here link , click on the purchase button, and use code "howdidthisgetmade" at checkout to receive all of the movie for non of the money! Thanks everyone! Adam

    Troop Beverly Hills (1989)

Lets face it. Shelley Long taking over her daughters Beverly Hill's girl scout (or whatever) troop only to show them the merits of being a housewife is GARBAGE. Who thought this would be a good movie? I remember this movie playing on tv in the 90's when I was a kid and thinking it was terrible even then.

    Bula Quo! (2013)

Status Quo goes to Fiji and gets caught up with a mercifulness gangster, played by Jon Lovitz. Will the gang Lovitz?
  6. Hey, guys! As Paul mentioned on today's minisode, How Did This Get Made is looking for a new logo, and YOU could be the one to design it! HDTGM fans have made some amazing t-shirt designs and fan art in the past, so we know you're up for the challenge. As you know the current logo are Paul, June, and Jason's faces photoshopped onto the Junior movie poster. What will the new logo be? Make one, post it here, and we'll find out! We can't wait to see 'em!

    Say It Isn't So (2001)

I'll come out and admit this right now: I haven't watched this film and, according to the box office report on the wikipedia page, no one else did, either. However, I was looking through the recently added to Netflix list and this movie happened to be on it, so I decided to look into it. The main premise, the premise the movie sells itself on, is that two people meet, fall in love, have sex, then find out they might be siblings. And it just gets crazier from there. There are random twists, stupid character choices, and all the incest humor you never asked for. It seems like a remarkably bad movie and, now that it's on Netflix, it seems like the perfect time to give it watch.
  8. Ta da! I made y'all a theme song exploring the question Would it Have Been Better If Nic Cage Was In It? Other HDTGMadmen, please feel free to boogie this up thru remixes and what not. DONT CYBER BULLY ME. PAUL WHERE IS JUNE!?!?! ps i love the show.

    Crossroads

Another bad pop star movie. 14% on Rotten Tomatoes
  10. I haven't seen this one since I was real little but one of you during this episode were making fun of Joan Cusack's response to Robin Williams's smoking suit with "That's funny." I was at work yesterday when I had an epiphony. I had heard that similar line before but in a different film, which one of you mentioned in the podcast: Good Morning Vietnam. Check out the scene here: Next-level bonkers. Sorry, not a correction or ommission but I HAD to bring this up.
  11. Hello People of Earth and welcome to How Did this Get Made the podcast where we try and make sense of the movies that make no sense, I am joined as always by Jason Mantzoukas and June Diane Raphael.
  12. Hard Ticket to Hawaii (1987) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0093146/ Starring: Ronn Moss (Hot Child in the City) Written and Directed by: Andy Sidaris (Picasso Trigger, Savage Beach, Guns, and so many more) Synopsis: "Two drug enforcement agents are killed on a private Hawaiian island. Trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PCM6HCTJeRU Cult Gold. So bad it's good. Christmas in Connecticut (1992) http://www.imdb.com/...ref_=fn_al_tt_2 Starring: Dyan Cannon (That Darn Cat , Kangaroo Jack....ALSO was married to Cary Grant) Kris Kristofferson (A Star Is Born, Payback) Tony Curtis (Some Like It Hot) Written by: Aileen Hamilton (Christmas in Connecticut 1945) Lionel Houser (Christmas in Connecticut 1945) Adele Comandini (Christmas in Connecticut 1945) Janet Brownell (Eloise at the Plaza, 12 Dates of Christmas) Directed by: ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER (c'mon..) Only Elizabeth can't cook, and trying to keep Jefferson and the viewing public from finding out on a live show may be a little difficult."
