Episode 64.5 — Minisode 64.5

Recommended Posts

OMG NO WAY!! It was on Netflix Instant for literal YEARS.

This is a tragedy.

I may or may not have put it in my DVD queue at #1 with the intent of sending back an unwatched DVD tomorrow so that I can get it in time to watch before this episode.

I only saw some of this movie one time when I was a kid, and when Jeffrey Jones must 'recharge' and that weird cybernetic snake thing comes out of his mouth and hooks up to the cigarette lighter I was like, "NOPE!! NOT FOR ME! TOO SCARY!!"

And I have not revisited it since.

Oh crap, maybe not. I found it earlier in a playlist and didn't actually go to any of the videos, but now I tried it so I could post the link here, and the video has been removed.

I guess Lucas said if we're going to make fun of his shitty movies, we're going to at least pay him first. Oh well, on to iTunes.

So, what's a good drinking game for this one?

Drink every time there's nekkid duck tits or scantily clad Lea Thompson on-screen.

You could also drink every time there's a registered sex offender on-screen, but Jeffrey Jones is in a good portion of the movie, so you're gonna get fucked up.

I actually am kind of hesitant to rewatch this because of Jeffrey Jones. I loved that guy as an actor (he's in so many of my favorite movies) and his gross kiddie porn issues make me retch. At least if I watch Chinatown I'm not forced to look at Roman Polanski the entire time.

Didn't he assault that girl while making Chinatown or soon thereafter?

I'm halfway through this movie and - honestly - fuck you George Lucas!

Yep. I'm really surprised this hasn't happened sooner. This movie cannot be properly described with words. Such a mix of terrible, strange, and grotesque writing/execution. It's duck-fucking bonkers.

Serious question - was Caroline in the City playing a retarded person in this movie?

I was at the live show for this, hardest I've laughed in a long time. Can't wait to relisten.

The thing about letting someone's poor choices in life alienate you from their work is it both limits your enjoyment and places disproportionate significance on an aspect of their personal life over their professional contribution to the world. That said, there's shit I categorically won't support, like as much as I love horror movies, I still won't watch Jeepers Creepers.

The creepiest this about Jeffrey Jones is - could he, as an actor, have so convincingly played a principal obsessed with and pursuing a teenage boy in Ferris Bueller's Day Off had he not those inclinations as a man?

I think that was Gene Shalit's review of Howard the Duck...

Safe to assume she's, "on the spectrum" as it were. There are so many points in this film where she just should have said, "No. I'm an adult human and this is preposterous."

EDIT: I mean both her character and Lea the person.

The guy voicing the fucking duck sounds so much like Steve Buscemi, it's off-putting. Now I keep picturing Tony Blundetto as a duck.

She probably thought she had hit the jackpot by being in a Lucas film. He was the king of the early 80s, and Star Wars already proved he had a gift for sci-fi, so she figured, "why the hell not?"

Just her luck that she would end up in, not only one of shittiest Lucas films, but one of the shittiest films of all time.

Too true, mon frere

Can we talk about what happened to her 2005-2007??? Her IMDB lists like 8 "Jane Doe" TV movies.

Never thought I'd type this - but After Earth was like Citizen Kane compared to this garbage. Garbage!!

Oh shit! Are those Lifetime Movies? I think she made another misstep in her career by being in the Beverly Hillbillies. If you look at her IMDB, that one sort of knocked her off of the big screen a long time.
