Episode 163 - Yassir Lester, Our Close Friend

Recommended Posts

Hey guys! I edited this down so anyone can quickly and easily relive the tale of Sean's telephone adventure. Why not give it a try?

I was also v mad while listening to this because it was too short. Henry, please edit again to make longer. Maybe Sean finds fourth kite.

P.s. Hey isn't it funny that Sean was looking for a kite but found another fun thing in the sky (God) instead?

Hi, Silvrwoman, sorry for the shortness of the video, but I obviously don't have enough time on my hands to make it longer. ;) Also, I enjoy your forum posts and you should do more of them!

Best part: Vinnie Jones and that amazing ad they did for an amazing product. Everyone should buy them. Not necessarily even that brand. Just buy any kind you want

I know it's all fun and goofs, but I'll never put my blessings on a "suck it, Chanson" post. I live too close to that guy, and he's bigger than me.

Chanson doesnt have to get down there if he doesnt want imo. I keep seeing people complaining about the first post not taking to opportunity to invite him to do so however, so I extended the invitation because I thought it was a memetic gag specific to this microcosm of the interwebnets. I would never insist upon Chanson's participation in such an intimate act against his will, I'm not some sort of lunatic. I usually do like his posts, so he can make his own decisions.

I was under the impression those comments all had something to do with a delicious rainbow lollipop? If not, I take back everything nice I've ever said about you guys because Chanson is my friend

I know we're all real big on being sweet sweeties around during here, and a lot of you are outstanding sweeties, not just Henry and silvr, as has been pointed out.

This isn't one of those posts.

I had an opportunity to watch Don't Think Twice last night, finally, because as I learned when I tried to go see it at the theatre, Mike birbiglia took the movie on a tour of like 30 screenings or whatever, so I had to wait until I could stream it, joker style, for free.

So I watched the movie, spoilers follow.

It was garbage. In a cast of characters in which I'm a huge fan of at least three of them, I couldn't connect to a single one of them. From the first moment it started off with this reel of old school 1950s improv which you couldn't even hear over Gillian Jacobs doing this horrible narration of the start of improv and then a garbled version of the 'rules' of it. It then followed with a pretty trite story where their theatre is closing down, Chris Gethard's dad gets into a motorcycle accident, Keegan Michael Key gets the job at Weekend Live, and Mike Birbiglia is a washed up asshole who fucks his improv students while Kate migucchi(sp) is just so friggin quirky. It quickly derails from even being about comedians and just being about living in new York, which is what everything anyone from new York makes is about it seems. That kind of spirals and the one rich chick also ends up getting a job at weekend live, and keegan ultimately proves he isn't that great at his job by stealing a scene from the group (named the commune as if the message wasn't blatant enough) and writing it as a scene for himself. It then sheds it's central premise of being grounded in reality by having Chris gethards dad die, leaving him with enough money to open up his own improv theatre in Philadelphia. Yay everyone. The one good thing was they actually weren't that bad when they were doing real improv scenes. I'm sorry if anyone is offended by me laying out the whole movie, but honestly none of you should see it, and Mike birbiglia if you are reading this you should have just been happy with the 3 hour long specials you got because you really aren't that funny.

TL;DR Don't Think Twice is 90 odd minutes of new York people Jerking each other off so much it borders on pornographic

Thank you CiscoKid. There was a time in my life where I had considered seeing the movie, but now that I know what I know, I will not - not ever.

I thought it was kinda strange that we are being asked to vote for next year's best podcast. But you know what? I do already know what it's gonna be.

Solid intro. Great ads. Killer digeridoo. Cody straight up defeated them all with his logical refusal to answer questions. The rest of the show was just Yassir and the boys trying to recover from having their asses handed to them
